Blacklisted

Post by J.D. »

A day or two ago I suddenly lost the ability to post on these boards on my cell phone via Tapatalk. It says my IP is blacklisted (I'm using 3G, not my Wi-fi connection). I can post to GT and other forums on Tapatalk no problem so it seems to be an OO specific issue. I can post on my desktop computer at home no problem (which I'm actually doing right now).

Not sure if this has to do with the new server move but if I provide the blacklisted IP can this be fixed? Many thanks.

Sure PM it over to me and I will have a look.. What kind of a message did you get? The issue could be that your IP is in a DNSBL list, which we check before anyone posts.

Woah, now it works and I was just testing so I could get the error message to PM you. Whatever you did, thanks!

Hrmm wonder if the dnsbl is broken; if you get the error again let me know via pm.

I had this error occasionally on Tapatalk before the move. A disconnect/reconnect to the network should reset the IP out of a blacklisted block.

I also am getting a Blacklisted return when posting from my phone or tablet. Went to airplane mode on both, but still the same issue (wi-fi and 3G)

I am blacklisted from my phone on wifi at least. I don't like it. :)
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

Rebooted my cable modem, will check again. So far only tapatalk is busted on my wifi for both phone and tablet (didn't try phone on 3g yet).

It's an issue with Tapatalk trying to stop spammers. But of course, the dynamic assignment of IP addresses, especially for mobile devices using 3/4G makes them ripe targets for spammers. What I normally do is go to the More function on the post I want to reply to, hit Open in Safari, then post the reply through the standard web interface.

Oh, I definitely understand why it's happening, it's just annoying... (and still happening, FP  )

I turned off dnsbl checking on the plugin. If there's a big jump in spam bots I'm going to have to turn it back on.

Curiously enough, when I tried to edit this post, I got the same error, but replies work fine. The edit was to state that the blacklist checker only listed about 5 of the 30 or so as having my IP blocked, so maybe there is some middle ground if it's possible to comment out some of the blacklists... Just thinking at least.

Test edit 12-20

Someone messaged me and indicated that the atlbl dns blacklist is out of operation and causing some problems. Removed it from the dnsbl list, let me know if tapatalk is any better as a result.
