Welcome Back - Please read

Post by FishPants »

There's obviously been an outage, and essentially it ends up that our hosting provider is an alleged borderline criminal who ripped off the datacenter he was renting space from, and did a midnight move to some other location.

Downside outside of that, is they "misplaced" our server -- so we are in a new home, with a new provider who's been around for a long time (and isn't in the business of screwing people). So with that being said, there's a few things I want everyone to be aware of:

1. If there are any problems with broken links, server error messages, performance etc please post them in this thread where I will keep a running tally of problems to fix in the first post (and cross them out when they are resolved).
2. Our costs are now a bit higher than before (previously $70/mth, now closer to $100 a month with tax). If you guys can keep buying through that Amazon link, it would really help.

I think it's pretty clear there's support here for more direct financial support if it becomes necessary.

Just let us know and throw up a paypal link.

That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons bring us some web forums whereupon we can gather.

Thanks for all the hard work, Fishpants.

Think what I'm going to do is treat OO as if there was a yearly membership, self imposed. My dues are going to start this month. Thank you for taking the time to create and manage and pay for and care for and having such a great name FishPants!

YAY!!!!
Thank you Fish Pants! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Even though I've mostly been a lurker for several months now, when OO isn't here I really feel it's absence.
I sooooooo missed you guys, and even though GT was kind enough to let us hang out there - it's not the same (no offense, naed, farley, Ron and other GT-ers).

I am curious if the Amazon orders have been enough each month to cover your costs? I order a lot off Amazon. But it would not take much to cover the year if several of us kicked in a little extra.

Thanks for getting us back up and running, Fishpants! I'm not complaining, just curious - did we end up losing content back to July sometime, or were you able to rescue a more current image?

Also, I get a Mysql error when I try to post to the Cryptic Neverwinter thread in PG Games:
General Error

I'm curious too. I've bought some expensive stuff on Amazon lately through the link but I don't know if you're getting $$ or not. Also I'm glad OO is back.

Thanks muchly to FishPants (and Rip for his part in the vigil of the WHT thread) for all the hard work to keep us afloat.

Losing the SQL config developed after years of fine-tuning, and having to start from scratch with a vanilla config has to be a serious pain in the arse. But at least we are now VD-free.

I need to start using that link more. I could fund OO for a year based on my Amazon purchases alone probably. I would say we do 90% of our non grocery shopping there.

I added a smilie pack (Click on the "View more smilies" link) when you make a post.. I've never done it before and didn't realize it just added them all without letting you select.. so umm there's a lot, and I spent awhile deleting a lot of the crap that was in there.
