It's been four years since Yankeeman posted?

Post by Fireball »

That's just wild to me. I would have sworn he was still active here.

No content here, just a bit of surprise. Does anyone know if he's okay?

Zarathud: The sad thing is that Barak Obama is a very intelligent and articulate person, even when you disagree with his views it's clear that he's very thoughtful. I would have loved to see Obama in a real debate.
Me: Wait 12 years, when he runs for president. :-)

He had some bad blood going on and quietly became scarce. He was pretty young and coming to his own around the time he left 84-08 = 24 years of age. Growing away from things and toward other things at that is common. I'd try PMing him to see if he still uses the same email address or checking on one of his gamer IDs.

Four years ago was the last time the Yankees won the World Series.

Also, I thought he was back. But that's probably from last time. When I go and look I there was a posting gap of over a year from Mar 18, 2008 to Oct 7, 2009 too so I'm probably think of the previous return in 2009.

I believe YM's brother got himself banned for repeated self-immolation on the forums. Not sure if that's tied to YM's disappearance or not (I seem to recall he stuck around for at least a while after that), but it's possible it played a role. Or he just decided to stop posting here for whatever reason.

He (jb) posted for awhile on GT but I think he got himself banned there, too.

Self imposed exile three years ago.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

jblank was a big lesson to me in how different people can be on forums vs. "in person", or at least close to in person. While he did seem quite easy-to-anger and quick to feel persecuted on the forums, I played a few online games with him with voice chat and he was super humble and absurdly polite.

And somehow for all this time I never realized the connection between him and Yankee.

He's doing ok. I'm FB friends with him and he posts there occasionally.
