I'm doing some stuff on the server, so if it stops responding, or sending off the odd error don't be alarmed.. It's just me one handed server admining... Doing some testing on board software upgrades etc, but at times I will need to pull a snapshot from here which may bog things down.

Clearly what I was doing today caused it.. just not sure what.. I took a mysqldump of the site as a precaution (!!) before I did anything, then was poking around in other databases unrelated to this place. Not sure how that hosed the DB here, and logs weren't helpful.

Anyways a restore seemed to have chased the board goblins away. But come August, my wife and kids are away on a fabulous trip -- I'll be upgrading the board and sulking with my labradors (they sulk all the time).

Nah I'm glad you did.. I turned off the admin block, board came up -- I saw topics and moved on. Never ran into that before when you click a topic title and it tells you it doesn't exist anymore (yet the database showed all the posts/data). Weird.

FYI, the search function seems to be off. A search for "Trump" only turns up five results, for example. Or maybe I've woken up in an alternate universe where Donald Trump doesn't exist?

Sadly no. Wonder if the search wordlist is borked, I can recreate that.

Deleted the index and recreating it.. Not sure why the database and board are so out of sync. It's going to take a few days to do this, so bear with me.

221 posts per second are being indexed.. I'm not doing the public math on what that means overall time wise, but I'd guess at least 6-8 hours.

We are about halfway now. I think it varies depending on how big the posts are and other load on the system. DB process is chewing up CPU which is good, means it's working -- and most of the DB is held in RAM so it can't get much faster than it is.
