D-Day Dice Kickstarter

I've been watching this game in development for quite a while now on BGG, and thought it might be of interest to some of the board game faithful here. The Kickstarter effort is going great for the guy wanting to publish the game, and for each new milestone reached, he keeps adding on extra items to the game order.

Here's the link to the Kickstarter...

Here's a link to the BGG page for the game...

Link to free trial version of the game...

Description of the game from BGG...
Omaha Beach, June 6th, 1944. As the American troops land in Normandy, a German machine gun nest is killing them like flies...

You must do something!

In D-Day Dice, players are soldiers trying to organize improvised units for an attack against the machine gun nest. Each player starts the game with a unit of a few soldiers and nothing else. As the game progresses, he will collect resources and advance on the beach, sector by sector, as his unit grows stronger and deadlier. He will succeed... or die trying.

D-Day Dice is a multiplayer co-op game, where all players play their turn simultaneously and must help each other in order to stay alive. It also includes solitaire optional rules.

Although built around dice rolling, this game is about resource management (soldiers, specialists, items and courage) and knowing when to move your unit. Resources are kept from turn to turn, so the players can plan ahead (and help each other out).

The Free Trial Version of the game includes 2 Battle Maps ("Exercise Tiger" and "Omaha Beach"). The commercial version will include 8 of them (and a lot more features).
This game really looks and feels great. I'm really excited about getting this...it seems to be in the same vein of Elder Sign and the like, where you do lots of dice rolling and work together to storm the beaches at Normandy! Hope this interests a few of you, and that a few of you buy in, because I'm hoping the designer makes the last stretch goal for the Kickstarter, which is being the most funded Kickstarter board game ever. If he reaches that goal, there's going to be an extra gift thrown in for all purchasers. So yeah, I had an ulterior motive posting this. So sue me. :)

I was part of the Eaten By Zombies! project on Kickstarter and was checking up on it one day when I stumbled across D-Day Dice and decided to support that. And before I could get away, ended up helping out on the Miskatonic School for Girls Deck Building Game as well.

I have a friend that was really into the free version - he printed up his own cards and some type of magnet-based system to track resources. I think he also had custom dice made -- again, all for the free version. He was on the fence about investing in this, but after seeing how popular it was, he couldn't resist.

This one has now surpassed the highest paying kickstarter game ever, and so he's added the a new stretch reward to the package, a cloth carrying bag for the game. It's been fascinating to watch this thing grow!

And the game has just passed $85K in Kickstarter signups, and they've added another reward...now the game will come in a tin box for anyone that subscribes to the kickstarter. So...for a $35 dollar investment, you get...

The base game
Dice pouches and the Distinguished Service pack when the project started.
The Badges mini-expansion
The 2 Kickstarter inspired cards (K gun and Pledge ribbon)
The alternative machine gun fire dice
2 extra maps
Another pair of Kickstarter inspired cards
A CANVAS BAG to hold everything in
and now a tin game box

Insane.

I've been following this for a while now, so I signed up for the "Line for Life" deal and I'm glad I did. There are so many bonuses for signing up it's crazy and they keep adding them as they hit new milestones. If you're even somewhat interested in the game you should take a look at it before the deadline.

I'm in for a "Line for Life" too. hanging out for the first bits to arrive (which, however long it takes, will be too long..)

Yeah, I jumped onto a Line for Life subscription as well. I got into the first one, so that was good timing. It is amazing watching the numbers grow on this, I just hope that they guy running it has done his math right and isn't overextending himself with all of the freebies...

While I don't have the scratch to fully commit to that level of support, I did decide to join in at a basic level. I mean, at this point how can you miss out on being part of history? ;)

If things continue at the current pace, this game should crack the $100K mark today. Amazing...

I tried but my work firewall interceded when it was passing me back to the kickstarter site after clicking OK on the amazon payment. No idea if I am in or not or out $35 or not. Will have to remember to check when I get home. I have this fear amazon took my money but failed to tell kickstarter about it.

If you are logged into Kickstarter, you should see a green "You're a backer!" badge on the front page of the D-Day dice game if it went through OK.

And a special set of dice as the reward. And they are closing in on the top game Kickstarter, which was a video game. They're at $102K right now, and are aiming at @$106K, with 7 days to go. :horse:

Passed the 9th gift threshold without even slowing down to say howdy. BTW my transaction yesterday did go through, it just took an hour or so to show up.

It's trying to suck me in as well. I have resisted. I am concurrently resisting this and Steam Sales. When I get paid, I need to make sure I dump all of my disposable income into something else and make it non disposable quickly.

And that's usually what I do with extra money. At present rate, I'll be at zero equity in about three years.

$118,460 pledged of $13,000 goal

3 days left and last gift will be for hitting 130k, I'm not sure they are going to make it, but it's been fun to watch.

I'm so torn. I have no set gaming group, it wouldn't fly at the family gatherings due to setting, I'm not sold on the mechanics, yet I keep coming back to it...

I suppose if I just waffle for a few more days, the decision will be made for me.

PC, XBox, PS3. The idea of pulling out a boardgame for solo play is a foreign concept to me.

It's actually kind of fun. You can have analog enjoyment in life as well as digital. Grab a beer, sit down at the kitchen table and play. If it helps, pretend you're Amish.

And the Kickstarter for this one just rolled over $130K with ~39 hours to go, bringing it to 10x it's funding goal, and giving us the last reward for the Kickstarter. Man, this has been fun to watch! I don't even really care about another reward at this point, I was just pulling for it to hit $130K. Be interesting to see what it tops out at.
