Games Finished 2012 - a statistical analysis

Post by Hipolito »

To have fun with numbers and research, and to help myself learn Excel, I took the data we put into the Games Finished 2012 thread and saw what interesting statistics I could get from it.

Number of active participants in the thread: 25
Number of different game titles completed: 162
Number of completions reported: 221
(Multiple completions of a single game by a single person were counted as only one completion.)

Really cool, and it has inspired me to be more diligent about updating this year's list.

Thanks for putting this together - really interesting!

One thing that surprises me is the Playstation/Xbox 360 ratio, I always thought that there are way more Xbox users than PS3 users ...

Maybe the xbox users are all like me and switched to steam as their primary gaming platform. I'd have to look at the actual games to come up with a real explanation.

Cool Stats! But I need a reminder to update my list before the end of the year. I had another five or six that didn't get on.
Jesus said, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body."[Matt 10:28] God can totally destroy us.

Jesus also said, "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”[John 6:40] Eternal life is conditional.

His disciple John wrote, "Whoever has the Son has eternal life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life. [1 John 5:12] Eternal life is optional.

That could be part of it. Another reason is that PlayStation may have had more exclusives. Of the games we completed, the XBox 360 had only 2 exclusives while the PlayStation 3 had 5.

Why is it every year we hear the PC gaming market is dying, yet the most finished games wind up being on the PC??
