Everything fits into the "standard" Plano red box, except for the pilot cards. I cut out the plastic surrounding the Shuttle, because I'm afraid those wings are fragile. I cut a notch in the wide bay divider to hold the Falcon's nose in place during transport.

My list:

4 X-Wings
2 Y-Wings
2 B-Wings
2 A-Wings
1 Falcon
1 Hawk

5 Tie Fighters
2 Tie Advanced
3 Tie Interceptors
2 Tie Bombers
1 Firespray
1 Shuttle

With just Wave 1 and Wave 2, I had enough for a 5-6 player game. Now, I can set up a 6-10 player game at Octocon, which would take forever. Instead, I'll set up two 4 player games.

1/4" x 1 1/4" Zinc Fender Washers fit very nicely to weight down the bottom of the bases. The Loctite Brush-on Super Glue makes it really easy since they attach almost instantly.

Hmm...you may be able to pick up TIE Interceptors used if the new Wave is going to run slightly different ships but in 2-packs with "better" elite pilots. I could go up to 4, but there's no sense in 5.

That's what copiers and laminators are for. I have multiple TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors but only one of each other expansion. Granted, I don't play "competitively" but I'm fairly certain the local game shop lets you use copies provided it's not blatant. No way in the world I'm buying multiple Firesprays for more Stealth devices, etc.

I do plan on playing competitively, and will need actual cards :(

Well I've actually played 4 or 5 games in the last two weeks. I bought my brother a core set for his birthday and he is hooked now, and unfortunately better at the game than I am. In fact I only won 1 of the five. Perhaps the reason for that though is because I have been doing my best to try new lists and finding good combinations.

I have determined that I have absolutely no idea how to use the lambda shuttle. I've used it in two different lists and I cannot figure out how to make it worthwhile. Sure I have used some interesting combinations such as Colonel Jendon with advanced sensors, weapons engineer, and ST-321 is pretty useful, but it also costs 35 points without even including any weapons to make it worthwhile. I feel like it needs the engine upgrade to make it more maneuverable to overcome its extremely limited dial. At that point you are at 39 points without a weapon still. That's 3 other base ships so... not sure if that pay-off is worth it. Or maybe I'm just not skilled enough to use the shuttle.

I actually think the HWK 290 is much more effective than the lambda. For one it is cheap. Secondly it has a turret which greatly increases it's value. I find it a bit more useful than the Y-wing at this point so I really actually like it quite a bit, although I have not won with it yet. I'm sure I will find better uses for it.

I'm wondering now if FFG is actually going to release any other ships along with the imperial aces. It seems like they may not be. I think all of the previous waves have been announced all at once so it may just be a one off here. They already said the big ships are not wave 4, is this wave 4 then? Are more ships going to be announced along with it? Or is wave 4 still to come? It will be interesting to see.

Yeah sorry my post wasn't very clear, I know the big ships are not wave 4, I was more speculating about the imperial aces. Are they wave 4, part of wave 4, or is wave 4 yet to come?

Man, I keep playing with the idea of getting in on Star Trek: Attack Wing for some starship fun similar to what you guys are doing. But then I realize I'm a man with no concept of self control and that would end badly for me.

Played a 3 player 75 point free for all game on Saturday. My sister had the B-Wing and Chewie. Her boyfriend ran the Slave 1 and TIE Bomber. I ran the shuttle as Squad Leader with 2 TIE Interceptors. We decided to slow down the Heavy Lasers on Slave 1 which resulted in the Falcon blowing up one of my TIEs. The Falcon got a sweet crit that took out the TIE Bomber's Advanced Torpedo after it missed with missiles. But I kept plinking away at the Falcon until its hull was messed up, until the Falcon ran away into Slave 1's blind spot. The bombers took out my last Interceptor as I moved to break up the big ship duel. I played the role of spoiler, destroying the Falcon but lining up to smash into 2 asteroids with the limited maneuver dial on the shuttle -- which took out my last 2 hull points. Slave 1 mopped up after the TIE Bomber died.

Fun and playing with 7 ships went by reasonably quickly.

Do I get a second red Plano box or try to figure out a whole new storage system? Decisions, decisions.

I don't think anyone was surprised by the inclusion of the TIE Defender and the Z-95 Headhunter in this wave. Those were pretty much a given, but it's still awesome to see that Fantasy Flight Games agree with the players. :)

The E-Wing was probably the most predictable of the Rebel ships possible to add as a second, but the TIE Phantom came out of the blue for me. I was expecting something like the Assault Boat.

After the last wave I finally just went with battlefoam. Expensive but now I can just keep expanding it. My current case has room for several waves of ships including the big ships. Half of my case is pluck foam now but when there are enough ships I will probably do another custom foam sheet to fit the big ships and the new waves.

That won't happen unless they make a spin-off of X-Wing. The cloud car isn't space capable and would be crushed by any of the ships available so far. At this point I wouldn't be surprised to actually see a spin-off though, focusing on ground battles. Then you could have AT-AT Walkers against snowspeeders, for example.

FFG has released great information regarding the huge ships the last two weeks, lots of great information to get an idea of how they are going to work and change gameplay:

Tantive IV

Rebel Transport

Great stuff on there including new move templates etc. Both ships are also now "at the factory" which means they are actually one stop closer to being in my hands!

Damn if this game doesn't make me want to hurl all my money at them.

Have they hinted at what other large ships are going to be coming to the game? A frigate would be awesome but I think that's probably what, twice the size of these two ships?

And to counter the Imperial Aces you have the Rebel Aces Expansion Pack coming in the future.

I was rather impressed by Keyan Farlander's special ability:
Similarly, the tremendously skilled B-wing pilot, Keyan Farlander, enters the game with a potent ability of his own. Any time he attacks, he may remove a stress token in order to change all of his results to results. This not only allows him to convert a detrimental effect into a positive attack modification; it also permits him to perform stressful red maneuvers with impunity. If he chose, Keyan Farlander could potentially perform the difficult Koiogran-turn maneuver every round.

The imperial aces pack has my friend actually excited by the game. He wants to run a squadron that's a bunch of emperor's guard in red interceptors, and a shuttle. This way, he can play as though he's escorting around the emperor, or one of his many body doubles (or clones). :P

He's probably going to find someplace or someone online that is selling just the red tie interceptors.

Good way to get the Emperor killed. The Shuttle is terrible. But maybe that's because I keep running into asteroids with it.

FFG lists the Rebel transport as now shipping to stores. Glad I'm not seeing my MERCS:Recon pledge for a while since I pre-ordered this a while back.

I just called to get my order split since I originally had Tantive IV and rebel transport on the same order for free shipping. But who knows when the tantive will get released and I really want my Transport so I just put up the extra shipping money on the news of them shipping to stores. Looks like by 2 weeks the transport should be in my hands! That was much faster on the boat than normal.

Well, is in stores to be exact.

Just got word that the Rebel Transport is hitting stores, or at least at the distributors. One of my local shops has a weird situation where they're like a distributor and get stuff early.

Looking forward to impressions. I didn't split my pre-order so they'll probably hold the transport until the corvette becomes available which is fine for me since I'll live vicariously through the session reports on BGG. And I need to find space to put both ships.

My group got lucky and for some reason a regular had a 6'x3' starfield painted board. Not sure what other space games use that exact table size, since he just today got into X-Wing.

Where did you get a 6'x3' mat? I've been pretty happy with my 3'x3' from GF9 and would like something similar to that.

Edit: Nevermind. I just saw your post on BGG asking this very question. :D

I got a pretty nice 4x6 star field from Banners on the Cheap. It's printed on vinyl, like signs, but it looks really good on the table. I had a good star field image that I got...somewhere. Don't remember where. But it looks good with a bunch of X-Wings and TIE Fighters on it. There were probably some pictures from OctoCon with it in use. I'll see if I can't find them. And if anyone wants the star field that I used, PM me and I'll get it to you.
