In other news, it's here!

I've been wanting to run an instance of Robo Rally for awhile now, but have been unable to since I don't currently own the game. So I've slowly pieced together a turn generating tool in my spare time over the past couple of months.

I'm planning to run our next game using this tool. If you get a chance or are just curious, please take a look at the tool and fool around with it. I'd be grateful for any input or reports of any bugs that are found.

My primary goals for this tool:
  • allow anyone to moderate an instance of the game
  • make it as painless and fast as possible to moderate the game
Here is a brief feature list:
  • Select and arrange game boards
  • Manage the bots and cards
  • Produce player turn PM text
  • Store player turn notes
  • Produce game board images for each game turn / phase
I consider the tool nearly feature-complete. This is some of what I still intend to add:
  • 20 / 26 boards need their nodes "adjusted"
  • construct bbcode for phase reports
  • misc option chits (Buzz Bomb, Mines, etc.)

FYI - I found some bugs with the tool involving drawing multi-board maps that I ought to have cleared up some time tonight.

Hands are out.

Due to the possible start of a local Pathfinder gaming group, processing may be shifted to Thursdays rather than (usually) Wednesdays.

I dropped the location of the other bridge chit on the uppermost right board, which was laid down on Turn 13, phase 2 . I will correct it on the boards for the turn processing going forward.

- generate partial bbcode for Phase processing results
- support for flags higher than 4

At the deadline, only 4 hands had been received. One of the two had been picked up, so I requested clarification as to whether I had missed or deleted the reply.

Given the pending OOtage for maintenance, processing will be performed over the weekend.

I love the color you add to the game with these descriptions.


For the converter - I assume that "explode for 2 damage" means that the adjacent squares take 1 damage?

Given that it specifies explosive damage, We'll go with that interpretation. The manual also states that if sacrifices to prevent a point of damage, it will deal a point of damage per counter on it.

Are the blank boards on page one gone? New question, what happens if I enter the orange teleporter and the destination is covered with a bridge? I'm assuming nothing and that this question has already been answered, but I'm feeling lazy.

Nothing will happen. Both ends of the portal are closed due to the bridge laying over top of it.

  • improved game file load times - more noticeable late-game
  • save files compressed
All old save files are incompatible. I don't expect this to be a problem since we haven't actually started using it yet.

Zoom Bot struggles to get up the ramp, but comes up just a wee bit short, slding back down the ramp.
Twonky drops a load ... of high explosives... on the flag, rotates to the right, and clears a counter to run clear of his mine, immediately replacing the chit. He backs up two squares, hits the oil slick when he tries to stop and slides backward a third square.

How is Twonky taking damage to replace those chits? I thought he only got chits when he would take a point of damage. :?

Hammer Bot likes the water so much that he drives back into it, a little slowly after all the previous surging.
Twonky uses his coverter chip, backing up two squares, then immediately replaces it by doing the Timewarp ... I mean rotating to the right.

Another tiny update to the tool.


v0.9.0.32 (12 Mb)
delta v0.9.0.31 to v0.9.0.32 (483 kb)
  • bot archive locations properly propagate between phases and turns
  • pasting text into Notes or Player Name will not trigger the 'paste program' logic
