Re: BSG Boardgame Gameplay - Game resuming?

Post by Turtle »

After a while of putting this off, I wanted to see if anyone was interested in finishing up this game?

If anyone can't, for any reason, we can always have someone else step in and take his spot.

I'm using VASSAL now to manage the card decks, which was the most tedious and time consuming part of running this.

I would need a full recap as I have no idea where I was or what cards I had, etc.

That's three, just need to hear from the others. We'll wait a while then those who don't respond or can't rejoin we'll look for a replacement.

Got everyone's cards sorted out and will do a full status update and everyone's hands and other elements when the game gets back underway.

Just seeing if the others will respond.

I'll probably post the call to fill any player slots for those who haven't responded this weekend.

... Maybe we should start over from the point right after loyalty cards were dealt.

Then would I get to help the humans several times before getting airlocked too?

I wouldn't mind completely restarting the game with everyone playing the same characters. Its been so long since we stopped playing I'm having difficulty remember what happened. Of course, how the game gets run is up to Turtle.

I can restart the whole thing if people want. Make a new thread, call for new players to fill slots, new characters, loyalties, etc.

Considering how much some of you have learned about the game, restarting with new cylons might make things even more interesting from the beginning.

However, I'll wait until Sunday to make any big decisions or call a vote. It'd be nice to finish this one up since we've already come so far.

If you restart I'd be up for joining (assuming there's an open slot). But of course if you want to resume the old game that's cool too.

So far...

Responded and are up for playing again:
Scoop
Remus
Chaosraven
Stessier
Grundebegriff

Haven't responded:
Lars
docD

Potential replacements:
El Guapo

On Sunday, I'll call it and take any replacements. Then we vote to decide whether to finish up this game, or start over. Once the vote is done, I'll start sending out the relevant information, either everyone's status and cards, or the selection order for new characters.

If we take replacements I think starting over would probably be better.

Which is not to say I don't want replacements, I fine whatever way we go, replace/no replace start over/continue all are fine with me.

The advantages to starting over:

1. It'll acknowledge that the aborted game was a trial run for many players, which it was.
2. It'll pose fresh, new, exciting challenges since there'll be no history.
3. It'll seem less like going through the motions just to satisfy a completist mentality (which, fwiw, I share but am willing to suppress for the greater good).

FWIW I don't see myself reading through 41 thread pages, so if we continue and I'm a replacement I'd probably need a summary. :)

Alright! It's Sunday.

Looks like I'll be taking El Guapo and Zurai as replacements.

Now the big question I put to everyone is: Start over or continue?

Game Crisis: All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.
Players Vote
Pass: Restart the BSG Forum Game from Character Selection.
Fail: Resume from the current turn.

Gah. As a revealed Cylon any cards I add are not going to help pass but I think we should restart.

That's 4 out of 7 to restart. If it's good enough for major league sports, it's good enough for me, unless anyone has an objection?

Look for a new thread tonight. I'll randomly determine who gets to choose characters, then the player order, then hand out loyalty cards. Do you guys want to keep your current characters, I can give priority to the original players who want to keep their old character.

It will be 7 players again, 6 Human/Hidden Cylons to start and 1 Cylon Leader.

Restart! I actually know how to play now!! And I've won once!!!

Be sure Unagi ends up between Chaos and I in the turn order. All of this has happened before...

Restarting would definitely be preferable to me, as it'd be difficult to take over a character mid-game.

So you are saying we should airlock Chaosraven right away and then torment you with how much you help pre-sleeper phase as we run away with the game?

Okay, here's the list of players.

I'll need all returning players to post to let me know if they want to keep their current characters, or change characters. Since you guys braved the first game, but sadly didn't get to finish it, I feel it's only right you get keep your characters.

Once you decide whether or not to keep your character, I'll randomly generate who chooses their character first and so on. Once characters are chosen, I'll start a new thread for the game with the turn order, and we'll start.

Returning Players:
Scoop - Baltar
Remus - Boomer
Chaosraven
Stessier
Grundebegriff - Roslin

Replacements
El Guapo
Zurai

Any time the Humans win it is running away with it. That is their entire goal, to run away. :P

I'll stay Boomer.
