Future GMed boardgames, interest?

Post by Turtle »

Just posting to see if people are interested in playing a play by post, GMed version of the Arkham Horror. It's an even bigger game than Battlestar Galactica, and won't start until that PBP game is finished, but checking now enables me to start the preparation for it early since I'll need to whip up quite a few custom graphics to help everyone stay on track. The good thing is I'll be able to play as well.

There's also less direct player interaction and interrupts, making it easier to use in a play by post format for the players, since a turn can be resolved in 2-3 posts between the player and GM.

I'm also looking to do A Game of Thrones game as well, along with a 10 player version of Battlestar Galactica, but that's all after I finish the current game.

Someone (Spacelord?) started one before and I was enjoying that so I'll play. Of course I'm pretty much a game whore so I'll play anything.

I'd love to but I already know I'd slow a game like this down, so no. :(

Is it complicated? I have no idea what that game is honestly...
But if a complete n00b can play I'd be interested :)

I'd love to. I own the board game and a few expansions, but me and my circle of friends don't get to play it often (I'm a board game whore, so we are always playing something different).

What he said. I was really digging it before when we started it and was saddened when it stopped.

Can you guys do me a favor? I'm still creating the pieces I need for a giant Arkham Horror game once my BSG game is over. I'm wondering what screen resolution everyone views the forum at and if there are any issues, even small annoyances, when viewing the maps and components for my current two games being run.

At work, I am forced to develop in 1024*768. At home it 1280*1024. I prefer the bigimg tags, which I can then pull up separately and browse at my leisure, which lessens any irritations that I might have with larger graphics.

I only have a 1280x1024 maximum resolution on my monitor. Anything hugely larger than that would be somewhat irritating to navigate. On the other hand, I don't recall needing to consider the entire map all at once very often when I played in the abortive Arkham Horror game a couple years ago, so it wouldn't be as big a problem there as in a game like, say, Runewars.

And I'd totally be in for an Arkham Horror game, for the record.

I've lurked for awhile and never properly signed up (until now  )

I've played AH exactly once before and had a great time, if you start one up and don't mind a newcomer I'd love to join.

Though I read somewhere that your friend with the AH stuff has moved and that your preoccupied with Runewars on top of BSG, I was wondering whether AH is still in the pipeline?

AH will likely happen after I finish both Runewars and BSG. I think my players are realizing it was a bad idea for me to do both at the same time. ;)

Yeah, one at a time will probably be better but I am enjoying the hell out of both games. Runewars is about to get REAL interesting.

heh, I just wandered to this forum with the notion of running a GMd Arkham Horror to see if anyone else was already doing it.

So, count me as interested. And, if you end up with too many interested players, I'd be happy to do a second game to handle the excess :)

It might be particularly interesting if we used identical GOOs and maybe even characters to see which group fares better

In if there's room, I only have the basic box, and have only played a couple of single player run-throughs, but I'd love to try it out.

There's no problem if you want to run an AH game. Mine is nowhere near complete, I was actually looking at using flash to deal with some issues with how many boards and components there were.
