The Meal's 2010 Hold 'Em Tournament Hand 59

Post by The Meal »

As discussed and recruited here.

Game Play
  1. My judgment supercedes any and all rules.
  2. All actions take place in this thread (unless OO croaks, in which case we move to email).
  3. All discussion of the tournament takes place in this thread (not on the phone, via PMs, emails, face-to-face, etc.). Do not edit posts in which betting (or calling, or raising, or checking, or folding) action has taken place. (link)
  4. Betting actions should be stated unambiguously: Call, Raise to/by <amount>, Check, Fold, Bet <amount>.
  5. Raise <amount> will be treated exactly the same as Raise by <amount>, just like in a brick-and-mortar casino.
  6. All actions take place in turn. Out-of-turn actions are not necessarily binding (especially if cards have not yet been shown), depending on my ruling.
  7. Contact the next player (or me) via Private Message (PM) after you've taken action. This helps the game flow at its maximum pace. Don't count on receiving PMs to know you're on the clock, keep checking the thread.
  8. Take action within 24 hours of the previous action or you may be skipped over (checked/folded as appropriate).
  9. Feel free to contact (PM) me to schedule out-of-turn actions, including stepping away from the table. Announce your triumphant return to the table directly.
  10. Timing out twice consecutively will result in being set as away from the table.
  11. Displaying graphics for cards ( :As: ) is considered to be showing your cards. One cannot "show" an incorrect card, and if caught I will correct what was shown. Words typed (Ace of Spades) is considered table conversation and will not be corrected if deceitful.
  12. All hands participating in a showdown will be shown.
  13. The winning player will receive $100, second place $60, and and third place $40 (4 buy-ins, 2 buy-ins, and 1 buy-in of profit).
  14. Blind levels will go up every 35 "clicks." Each hand increments the click counter by the number of players in the tournament at the time the hand is dealt.
  15. Everyone begins with 200 chips.
  16. The structure is as follows:
    1. Blind Level. SB/BB (no antes)
    2. 1/2
    3. 2/4
    4. 3/6
    5. 5/10
    6. 7/14
    7. 10/20
    8. 15/30
    9. 20/40
    10. 25/50
    11. 35/70
    12. 50/100
    13. 75/150
      any additional: +25/+50
  17. A bet may be of any size between the big blind and your entire stack. There is no requirement for a bet to be a multiple of the big blind.
  18. (Non all-in) raises must be of a size between that of the action taken ahead of you to the size of the second-largest stack among active players. There are three types of actions taken ahead of you:
    1. there is a bet (note, the big blind is considered a bet) with or without calls following,
    2. there has been a bet and a raise (again, with or without intervening calls between you and the raiser), and
    3. there has been a bet, a raise, and any number of raises to follow (possibly followed by callers).
The minimum amount you can raise BY is, in the case of a., the size of the bet; in the case of b. the amount of the raise BY, and in the case of c. the amount of the most recent raise BY. Note that raises TO must include the total number of chips involved in calling all raises.
  19. Attempts to put chips in the pot (via a declared "bet" after a bet has been established, or by declaring a raise) at half or more of a legal raise will result in a minimum raise. Attempts to put fewer than half of a legal raise into the pot will result in a call.
  20. A player may raise for less than the minimum in the case of an all-in raise. All-in raises of an amount less than the minimum raise in the previous rule do not reopen the betting for further raises by remaining active players.
  21. The "winner must show one card" rule is in effect: winner has 24 hours after they've been declared the winner to show one card in the thread. If the winner does not select a card within this time frame, I will show one of the cards that was in the winner's hand. (Winner can preselect, via PM to me, which card they'd like shown if they've made their decision prior to the end of the hand; if they end up not winning the hand, I will not show that card.)
Seating
Everyone drew a card, and players were seated in order from high-card (first hand dealer, Seat 8) to low-card (first seat to the left of the dealer, Seat 7). The following list is Seat #, Player Name, Card drawn, and their seat (using my personal naming convention) for the first hand.

Seat 1: Vorret :Qd: Under The Gun/Early Position [UTG/EP1]
Seat 2: rshetts2 :Th: Early Position [EP2]
Seat 3: pr0ner :Td: Early Middle Position [EMP]
Seat 4: noxiousdog :7s: Middle Position [MP]
Seat 5: JC Anejo :7c: Late Middle Position [LMP]
Seat 6: Isgrimnur :6d: Hijack [HJ]
Seat 7: Unagi :3s: Cut-Off [CU]
Seat 8: NinaPerdida :Ah: Button/Dealer [D]
Seat 9: Remus West :Kd: Small Blind [SB]
Seat 10: LordMortis :Kc: Big Blind [BB]

Humorous observation: RW was in Seat 9 and LM in Seat 10 in the first tournament.

Cards are out.

If you didn't receive a PM from me (or need to see it again), feel free to PM me or post in the thread.

Since this is a holiday weekend in the US, the 24-hour rule for taking action is relaxed. The 24-hour rule for showing one card (by the winner) is *not* relaxed, and if it isn't indicated in the allotted time, I will select and show one card.

Please PM the player whose action follows your and let them know the game is waiting on them.

Please make your raising/betting/checking/calling/folding intent clear.

Best luck, all!

Looks at Nina. Looks at cards. Looks back at Nina.

I was considering folding when the "bet" was 2. Thanks for removing the temptation.

Fold. LordMortis.

And he was kind enough to chase me out of about 50% of the hands I planned on seeing. I :x at the time but it worked out pretty well and gave me a chance to watch the game without losing too many chips.

It looks like chasing me out of hands might be Nina's job this time.

It's either that or no rabbit hunts at all. I think the chances of revealing hole-cards that couldn't exist doesn't really affect how rabbit hunts change strategy.

Also, NinaPerdida is on the clock for showing one card.

No worries. I've done this myself (in a pr0ner-hosted tournament), and I've seen it done many times in a live setting. It's easy enough to do.

Thanks go out to LM for pointing it out when he saw it. Hopefully everyone else at the table would have done the same if they were paying close-enough attention to have noticed it happen. We can all use as much help as we can get. :D
