Question regarding dead people.

I know only certain folks, or certain folks who have visited certain places, can resurrect people at the Temple. Can anyone carry a dead person to the Temple for one of the certain people to resurrect?

Yes. However, each player has only one inventory slot. So if you're carrying C-4 and wish to carry a body, it's necessary to leave behind the C-4. And so forth.

What if we take a dead person, skin them, and make a backpack? Do we get an extra inventory slot? ;)

Can't I just use the person as a backpack? I'm sure Chaosraven won't mind being used as storage for the C-4 no matter which orifice I shove it in.

I think my lotr game was last up; I'll dig up the info and PM it to you. Otherwise, ask stessier for the keys, it's his forum. I'm not sure it's reset.

Looks as if we're all confirmed (or disconfirmed in the case of the traitor, stessier) except Brendan. I've PM'd him to ask. Once that's cleared up, I'll send out random roles and we'll go!

Congrats on all of the above. Are you settled now on the east coast? We'll have to draw you into the next OO-fest at triggercut's place.

It appears that we have 16 confirmed players and 14 roles, so here's my proposed expansion:

I'll bump Team Evil to three persons.
I'll add one member to the Castaway team (while leaving the Candidate count at 4).
I added the extra to the Losties rather than to Team Widmore because I believe the latter has a number of advantages.

Question: Do you think it's too easy to destroy the plane? I have it as 1=damage, 2-in-a-row=destruction. I'm thinking, now that there are 5 charges of C-4 in addition to the two charges of dynamite, that it would be better to require three blasts without intervening repairs.

Does that make sense, or would blast-blast-blast without Keamy's intervention be too hard?

Another way to structure it: (a) a total of three hits, but only two of them have to be successive.

Actually, I just finished my east coast stint.

I'm back in Seattle where I have resumed actually showing up to the Office of Evil rather than just telecommuting to it.

Sadly, the emperor has kipped off to save people from deadly diseases, so we're just left with his dimmer henchman as replacement. Not sure who that'd be in Star Wars canon; were there any characters that suppressed the Empire's stock values for a decade and made woeful acquisition choices?

Three blasts seems ok but why the need for successive blasts at all?

The extra minion of evil will be Claire, and she will have a private agenda.
She is so enraged at the memory of her missing baby that she has developed a vendetta against Kate. Whenever she successfully lands in a hex, Claire will scan its other inhabitants. If she finds Kate, she'll kill her.

The extra Castaway will be Miles. Formerly a minion of Charles Widmore, he has long since thrown in his lot with the Losties. He has a special ability to discern the team alignment of one dead body in his current hex.

To give meaning to Keamy's repair power.

Otherwise, there's no difference between

BLAST--BLAST--BLAST

and

BLAST--repair!--BLAST--repair!--BLAST!

By requiring two in a row, I give Keamy a reason to bother trying to repair damage. (Widmore's team will be notified when their plane has been hit.)

Ok-- I've just made the following changes, which should mean we're good to go unless someone notices a gaping hole or flaw.

I added Claire as an evil with a vendetta against Kate, for whom she scans. Team MiB now has 3 with a likelihood of reaching 5 via conversions.
I added Miles as a Lostie with the ability to scan for the team alignment of a corpse.
There are 5 C-4 charges and there are 3 bundles of dynamite.
The plane will be destroyed if and only if (a) it has been hit at least three times, and (b) the last two times occurred in a row without an intervening repair by Keamy.

If the demolitions equipment proves grossly imbalanced by midgame, I'll make a change.

(I need to apologize to you, Grund, as I really would have liked to have reviewed the rules, etc - as you asked. I'm totally swamped at work - and still want to play, but wanted to chime in - I am woefully un-caught up on the rules, and sincerely hope I don't cheat anyone (yourself included) if I play this game a little bit 'sloppy')

(also, totally unrelated aside: One of these days, we need to play one of these Complex Rule-Sets TWICE, with the same rule-set - so that we can all see all the various ways a complex rule-set may play-out.)

(Grund, plan = plane, right?)

No problem. Catch up as you can.

Agreed. Or with minor tweakage, as with the Lord of the Rings game.
(Grund, plan = plane, right?)
Thanks.

OK-- the Island now exists, and I'm preparing roles.

didn't want to clutter the game thread, yet.

If we are in the same hex with someone, how do we communicate/coordinate with him/her/them without giving away locations if we are trying to coordinate movement? It is not like everyone knows where we are and this could unnecessarily give info away.

No PMs allowed.

All discussion and attempted coordination must take place in one of four ways:
  1. In the Widmore Forum for members of the Widmore Group
  2. By broadcasting to one's teammates from the FLAME station or by leaving an indelible message behind at the Tube Dump or the Barracks and hoping they find it.
  3. By communicating openly in the game thread.
  4. Through winks, nods, and psychic emanations.
