BSG VII -Sabotage -Game Over-Minor Victory-Humans

Post by Lassr »

Good guys

Image
Athena (good Cylon) –Each night she can scan to find Cylons.
Athena would submit a name to scan. The answer to her question will be Cylon or Human. If Athena is lynched the autopsy will show Cylon. If she finds Galen before D'Anna she will be told that she has found Galen. If she finds Galen after D'anna she will only be told she has found a Cylon.

She has the one time power to get an extra scan during the day when a Cylon target is found, to determine which Cylon was detected (may be used anytime as long as that Cylon is alive). Cylons will know they were scanned when used.

Image
Adama –scans for traitors. Found traitors are turned back into citizens. No limits on who he scans. Scanning Zarek returns "Not Traitor" as Zarek is the mastermind behind the plot and thus much better at hiding his allegiance. Traitors will know when they are turned back into citizens by Adama.

Image
Helo-He has a onetime ability to kill during the day cycle (no gun involved). His identity will be revealed.

Image
Starbuck – She can protect one person per night. If she protects a bad cylon (not Athena), She’s dead and that will override any kill selection of the Cylons. She can protect the same player more than once but NOT on consecutive nights. She may choose to protect herself or no one. Her protection carries over into the day against Doral's suicide bombing. She will know if her protection was successful.

Starbuck each night may search for the player with the gun. If she finds the player with the gun she may interrupt that player on any day if they draw the weapon to fire. If the weapon has been passed to another person at night then Starbuck cannot disarm until she finds the new player with the weapon (She may continuously check the same person if she wishes). If the weapon is passed during the day and Starbuck has identified the gun holder on a previous night, she will notice the exchange and know the identity of the new gun holder. (If the option to interrupt is available then the Moderator will e-mail Starbuck and ask if she wishes to interrupt, as the player with the gun is about to shoot, but not who he will shoot). Her identity will not be revealed. The shooter's shot is interrupted, shot is never fired. Shooter's identity remains concealed to everyone but Starbuck. Another shot attempt cannot be made until the next day.

Image
Doc Cottle –May revive a night kill the following day or a day kill the following night. One time power. His identity will not be revealed when power is used. Revived players cannot use any specials powers until the next cycle. (i.e. Revive at night, cannot use power until the day time or next night).

Good guy/potential bad guy

Image
Galen Tyrol –He is unsure of his loyalty after discovering he is a Cylon but continues to assist the humans. If he is found by Athena he will give his sidearm to another player of his choice at anytime during the game (day or night after the night found), that player then will have the ability to kill during the day cycle (does not replace the lynch). Galen will give the player the gun and they will exchange info (allowed one PM to each other). The player with the gun then may use it at anytime during the day cycle. (As a good Cylon, he will not use the sidearm, and yes he could accidentally pass it to a bad Cylon).

If found by D’Anna, he will then have the one time ability to kill during the day. He will count toward the Cylons side and have access to the forum. (If D'Anna finds him after Athena, she will just be told his role and he will not switch sides to the Cylons at this point).

If not found he counts for the human side but will not use the gun or pass the gun.

If the gun is fired, the ID of the shooter will be revealed (not their role).

Citizens – Citizens have no power other than voting.

================
Bad Guys

Image
D’Anna-each night she may research the background of a living player to determine their role If she finds Galen Tyrol before Athena, he will switch to the Cylon side.

Image
Aaron Doral – May at anytime during the day cycle use explosives to kill himself and a player of his choice but only if there is a least one lynch vote against him (votes by bad Cylons, including self, do not count)and before a majority vote is reached. If Starbuck protected Doral's target the previous night then Doral will explode but his target will be saved. Starbuck's identity will not be revealed.

Image
Simon-once during the game he may secretly administer a sedative to one of the players during the day cycle. That player is unconscious for the remainder of the day cycle and may not post, vote or use any special ability during that time. Player wakes at the start of the night cycle. If he administers the sedative at a time when the winning condition for the Cylons is at X-1 then Cylons win. (e.g. 3 good team members remaining vs 2 Bad Cylons, administer sedative then it is 2 vs 2.) Cannot sedate a fellow bad Cylon.

Image

Leoben - has a mysterious psychic connection to Starbuck but does not know her identity. Each night he may scan a human and ask if the human is Starbuck. If Starbuck is found he may once during the game psychically interrupt Starbucks protection (prevent her from protecting one night).

==============
Traitors

Image
Zarek can recruit only citizens & bad Cylons (although they will not be traitors and he will not know they are Cylons), all other specials will not become a traitor. Specials will not know an attempt to turn them was initiated. When traitor numbers (minus bad Cylons) equal remaining Cylons & humans, traitors win. Traitors will not know identities of other traitors or Zarek.

If a Cylon dies by lynch then no traitor can be recruited the following night.

Zarek gets a report each morning of number of traitors remaining (including bad cylons recruited) with names.

If Zarek dies then mutiny cannot happen and the traitors revert back to citizens. Bad Cylons continue on. (Clarification: Citizens will still think they are traitors but they will never mutiny without Zarek so they are considered citizens for game winning scenarios). A dead traitor cannot be a traitor as they would have died before the mutiny. So for a traitor to win with Zarek you must be alive.

Sequence:
1. Galen passes gun
2. Zarek Recruits
3. Leoben interrupts Starbuck
4. Starbuck searches for player with the gun.
5. Starbuck protects
6. Doc revives
7. Cylons assassinate
8. Athena scans.
9. D'Anna scans
10. Adama scans & converts
11. Leoben scans for Starbuck

Hours in the game day shift:
Day 1 -18 hours
Day 2 -18 hours
Day 3 -15 hours
Day 4+ -12 Hours

What does this mean?
Each Real day time (24 hours give or take an hour or 2) is 3 hours of game time

Translation:
Day 1 = 6 RL Days
Day 2 = 6 RL Days
Day 3 = 5 RL Days
Day 4 and on = 4 RL Days.

Weekends will be an extension of Friday or added to Monday.

So Day 1 would last 6 days plus weekends. If no lynch happens then everyone goes to bed and the night cycle starts.

Victory
Humans win by killing all the Cylons (except Athena & Galen if unconverted). Traitors are included in this victory.
Cylons win by killing enough humans to make the sides even. (Athena counts toward humans. Galen counts toward humans if unconverted).
Traitors win by recruiting enough citizens to equal the number of humans and cylons remaining. Zarek can win with the humans if he never recruits enough traitors and he is still alive in the end.

META Play: Roles assigned will be copied from the rules below and PM’ed to each player. META discussions will not be used to help establish your innocence. (i.e. guys I will be gone on vacation for a week so lynch me as I’m unpowered and it will not hurt the village). Saying you are innocent and you may lynch me is OK as long as it’s not combined with some real life event outside the game.
How people have played in the past is fair game. Mentioning when they have been online is OK. (View it as the village noticing Bob is not joining them at the table to discuss the events but Larry saw him peeking out his window).
No quoting of PMs or posts from other forums. No links to other forums. Talking about what was discussed in PMs or other forums is OK.

FAQ
redrun wrote:If gun passes during the night, when in the sequence will it pass?

If gun passes at night, will Starbuck be aware it has passed, or must she keep scanning gun owner to verify?

Starbuck doesn't protect against Zarek, right? (Looks to be right from sequence, unless last night's protection continues until she picks new protect target).

When, if during night, does Doc Cottle's revive take place? (Probably doesn't matter, but am curious).

May Simon submit order for sedative prior to start of day to take place as soon as day starts, or is he required to wait until day has started in game thread to submit the order?
Starbuck is not aware that the gun has been passed unless she scans the "known" gun carrier again and finds he no longer has the gun.
She does NOT protect against Zarek recruiting traitors.
Simon may submit the order anytime during the day and it takes affect as soon as the mod gets the PM; any delay can be viewed as Simon trying to find the right time to do it and not be noticed. :)
I will not accept Simon's order before daybreak unless Simon is going to be unavailable due to an ezmate situation; then I will allow some time to pass before actually sedating the target (I'll give the target a chance to show up within a 5 hour time frame before sedating. Once I notice the target has shown up in the thread I will issue the sedation order).

bb2112 wrote:Lassr:

If the weapon is passed during the day and Starbuck has identified the gun holder on a previous night, she will notice the exchange and know the identity of the new gun holder.

This text was under Starbuck, but seems to be in contridiction to your latest email. Just confirming: If Starbuck knows the identity of the person with the gun will Starbuck notice the passing of the gun and know the new identity or will she have to retest to find if the gun changed hands?

Thanks!
.

correct, if the gun is passed during the day. If it's passed at night then she is not witness to it and thus loses track of the gun.

Lagom Lite wrote: Lassr, is it legal for Simon to sedate one of his team-mates?
NO
Chaosraven wrote:
LASSR, will id by D'Anna suffice for Leobens 'found'? Will Starbucks claim as Starbuck in public count for 'found'?
No, Leoben must scan her to make the "connection"; he can't mess with her mind using D'Anna investigative skills or Starbuck's announcement.
Chaosraven wrote: They win as traitors if the numbers are massed.

But do they win under the following:
Zarek lives, but the Cylons are all lynched.
Yes, they are still humans just like Zarek. If Zarek dies they will not know he is dead so they will remain traitors but can only will win with the humans.
bb2112 wrote:
Lassr - would Starbuck know if she was blocked protecting someone? And if so, would she know the identity of Leoben if he used his block ability?
Yes, she will know she is blocked as she enters a dream state for the night and does nothing. She will not know Leoben's identity.

1 Year After Armageddon
Three months had passed since the last surprise appearance of a Cylon Basestar. No one believed the Cylons had given up but the extended break was a relief to many. Although everyone stayed on guard; the survivors couldn’t continue to live in the present. Their future had to be planned.
High level meeting were planned to lay out the ground work for obtaining fuel, water, and other resources for the trek to find Earth. There had to be plans made for all contingencies during their journey. The ship Zephyr was chosen for the initial meeting:

All non-essential personnel were cleared from the ship for the day of the meeting. After the last shuttle arrived, everyone headed to their rooms for a good night’s sleep before the next day’s meetings. In the middle of the night an explosion rocked the Zypher.

The ship plummeted into complete darkness before the emergency lights kicked in. Screams could be heard and some shouted, “The Cylons are attacking!”
A few minutes pass with no more explosions. “Galactica reports there are no Cylon Raiders or any other Cylon ship in the area. Galactica also reports that the explosion appeared to have come from the reactor area. We’ll send a team down to check it out.”
Everyone gathers in meeting room 1 to await the results of the damage.
Thirty minutes pass before the team returns.
“Not good. The power generators are toast. Back-ups are fine and should last for a few days if we take it easy on their usage.”
“What caused it?”
“Well, it looks like sabotage, we…”
“Sabotage?”
“Yes, we found one unexploded bomb; looks like it was meant for the reactors. We would have been frakked if that bomb had gone off. It appears the timing was wrong and the first bomb disabled the second bomb. Thank the Gods. We need to get a repair crew in here so we can restore…”
“No! No one leaves this ship and no one enters this ship until we find the saboteur. I advise everyone to get some sleep. We now have a new dilemma to solve tomorrow.”

Night
Athena-Who will you scan?
Starbuck-Will you protect?
Starbuck- Who will you search for the gun?
Adama-Who will you scan?
Doc-Will you revive the previous kill?
Cylons-Who will you kill?
D’Anna- who will you scan?
Leoben -will you interrupt Starbuck?
Leoben -who will you scan?
Zarek-Who will you recruit?
Tyrol-Will you give away the gun? (if possible)

Note:

I forgot to update the Doral rule before the game started.
but only if there is a least one lynch vote against him (votes by bad Cylons, including self, do not count).

Intention of his role is he would explode only if it looked like he may get lynched so a self vote or vote by one of his buddies would not trigger him to detonate.

Ok, that makes sense.

I saw there was no game coming up after BSG and thought, "Hey, lets make myself a target by announcing R. SCOTT III" (Coming to a forum game near year).

I did this knowing full well that it would make me the Night 0 kill. BUT, since I know I am a cylon and I won't die on Night 0 it will make me an easy Day One target.

Wow, the only question I have left is how you figured out my diabolical plan?? :|

That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

0700
The committee members entered the room to the smell of fresh Java, just what they needed after the restless night. As everyone settled in to start the first topic of the day they noticed an empty chair. “Who’s missing?” Chaosraven questions.
Bb2112 finally answers, “Looks like Remus West.”
Chaosraven stands up, “I’ll go wake him.”
A murmur starts to rise from the table; many of them have read the reports from the previous attempts by the Cylons to infiltrate the humans. Remus not showing up was not a good sign.
Chaosraven returns a few minutes later. The look on his face was all it took for people to know, “He’s dead. There’s no trauma so I’m not sure how he died but I think we know who did it. We have Cylons to find and I think you know what we have to do. Who will we test first?”
As the murmur again grew louder someone could be overheard saying, “All this has happened before, all this will happen again.”
Day
Athena- Will you scan a known Cylon?
Helo -Will you kill?
Tyrol-Will you pass/fire the gun?
Starbuck -Will you stop the shooter (if possible)?
Doral-Will you detonate your explosives (if possible)?
Simon - will you sedate?
Citizens-Who will you execute?

Day 1, my least favorite of all the days. Normally I have one or two people that I can vote for out of revenge from the last game, but nobody comes to mind right now. Maybe I'll just keep up the pressure on redrun.

Remus West - You will be missed. :(

Well, that is interesting. Was he targeted because of his aggressive play, or maybe because of his good instincts? In our last game he did call out both of the wolves. Or is there a revenge factor from either that game or the game he ran where he doomed the village, or maybe an even earlier game?

I know it is too early answer any of these questions, but they make me say hmmmmm....

Good idea. Let's keep the pressure up on a few folks and see who cracks... er, wait. I'm redrun.

Bad idea. It'll just mess the village up and distract from the bad guys. No help at all. You must be a wolf.

Oh. We're playing BSG. No wolves. Well then you must be cylon.

What? There are good cylons in this game? So, maybe this means you're good? :)

I like to call it speculation, and what else would it be at this point?

Hey, aren't you that mayor than led your village into a spectacular death? Going for a second round, hunh?

Thoughts on Tom Zarek (traitor):

20 players
5 good specials
4 evil (specials)
1 traitor (special)
10 citizens

Traitor, random chance, has about a 53% chance of recruiting each turn, however due to 'fake' recruitment of bad cylons, will think he's recruited about 73% of the time - and, in general , will probably not want to kill folks he thinks he's recruited.
Cylon lynchs cause him to lose a turn of recruitment.
Traitor(s), both original and recruited will want to lynch cylons, but not the last cylon.
Traitor(s) will want to lynch good specials.

Nothing here that is very important on turn one, but patterns to watch for later in the game.
Sufficient I am to the day.
