My season is starting off in Steelers-esque fashion!
"All I can ever think of when I see BBT is, "that guy f***ed Angelina Jolie? Seriously?" Then I wonder if Angelina ever wakes up in the middle of the night to find Brad Pitt in the shower, huddled in a corner furiously scrubbing at his d*** and going, 'I can't get the smell of Billy Bob off of this thing.' Then I try to think of something, anything, else." --Brian

"Would you go up to a girl in a bar and say 'Pardon me, miss, but before I spend a lot of time chatting you up, and buying you drinks, I'd like to know if you do anal. Because if not, that's a deal-breaker for me.'"

So much for a lockout-induced lack of practice causing a crappy week 1. 5 games with both QBs over 300 yards? The Bears scoring 30 points? Dallas losing in spectacular fashion? A record-tying 63-yard FG?

Pick of the week: NE over MIA - unanimous, ton of NE locks.

Oops of the week: KC over BUF - 3 correctly picked BUF with 0 locks, and 13 of us locked KC. Whups.

Crazy media conclusion of the week: OMG THE PACKERS ARE SO AWESOME!!! Yeah, they won. They scored a lot. Rodgers is kind of pretty good. But everyone seems to be glossing over the 34 points that they gave up, and the fact that NO was *this* close to scoring another TD that might have tied it. Where was last season's defense?

Crazy performance of the week: Tie between McNabb's 47.9 rating / 39 yards and Tom Brady's 517 yards and 4 TDs. And Ted Ginn's back-to-back kick return TDs. And the record-tying 99-yard TDs and 63-yard FG. And a bunch of other crazy stuff. It was a fun set of games.

'Saw that coming' of the week: The Colts without Manning are not very good. Also, Tony Romo is good at switching teams in the 4th quarter.

'Didn't see that coming' of the week: Me in first place. Now to start the long, slow taper to mediocrity.

Corrections to week 1 scores must be received by the kickoff of the first Week 2 game. Please verify your scores prior to Sunday's games. The pool spreadsheet is available here for review.

Picks in for week 2. Some tough choices out there.

That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

Since moving to ESPN, MNF no longer has the premium match-ups. There were a good number of uninteresting games on it last year.

Having six injuries in the same game, 4 of them to 1st round draft picks, the other two being a starting CB and a starting Safety, certainly did not help the Rams.

Only missed 2 picks this week, so far, but picked the Giants tonight over the Rams. I'd rather the Rams win, than have a 31 point week. 1 of the misses was a lock - Thanks, Kenny Britt for abusing the Ravens DBs.

yeah i locked the Ravens as well think that is my only one wrong so far.

In my other 2 weekly pools I won the pool at Veteran's club before tonight's game is played. Now I need the Giants and points tonight to win the big one at the local pub.

Week 2 turned out to be surprisingly predictable, to the point that our two co-leaders for the Top Dog award each went 15-1, missing only the Baltimore game. Congratulations to Mrs. Stinky Cheeseman, who rode her co-Top Dog status to a 4-point buffer on 1st place overall. In other news, the end times are indeed near, as Detroit is now 2-0 and nearly scored 50 points this week. Stock up on beans, bottled water, and shotgun shells.

Pick of the week: GB over CAR - Unanimous, all locked GB but two. I don't think any of us predicted a 13-0 lead by Carolina, though.

Oops of the week: Baltimore falls to TEN. How a team manages to manhandle PIT and then get manhandled by TEN the next week is beyond me. 2 picked TEN, more than half the pool locked BAL.

Crazy performance of the week: I'm going to go with the Lions winning. For the second time! And Matt Stafford continuing to impress in that he hasn't broken anything yet. Also, Cam Newton has a 2nd 400-yd game.

'Saw that coming' of the week: PIT bounced back and destroyed a crappy SEA team. Runner-up: Vick goes down, PHI instantly collapses.

'Didn't see that coming' of the week: IND scoring a bunch of points.

Corrections to week 2 scores must be received by the kickoff of the first Week 3 game. Please verify your scores prior to Sunday's games. Corrections to week 1 scores are closed. The pool spreadsheet is available here for review.

I obviously don't have the same standard for "bunch of points". 4 FGs and one junk time TD is not an impressive offensive display in my book.

Well, that was a... fun week of football. Or something. Is it Week 4 time yet? And who let Cam Newton ruin the Bears' gimme win against CAR?

Pick of the week: BAL over STL. 100% correct, bunch 'o locks.

Oops of the week: BUF over NE. 3 picked it correctly, and nearly everyone else locked it incorrectly.

Crazy performance of the week: Minnesota managing to collapse in the 2nd half for the third straight week to go 0-3 after leading at halftime in all three games. Bonus points: they are keeping the Bears out of last place.

'Saw that coming' of the week: NO scored whatever it took to win.

'Didn't see that coming' of the week: The Colts keeping it close against PIT.

Picks finally sent. 3 road locks in the early games again.

Games I have no idea how they will actually turn out

CAR @ CHI
TEN @ CLE
MIN @ KC
PIT @ HOU
and
SF @ PHI - though that's changed somewhat after going over the injury reports.

So, yes, those 5 likely will be the ones deciding things this week.

The season is a quarter of the way complete. Are you above the line?

Pick of the week: NO over JAX. Unanimous, near-unanimous lockage.

Oops of the week: SF over PHI, closely followed by CIN over BUF and KC over MIN.

Crazy performance of the week: Has to go to Aaron Rodgers. 4 TDs in the air and 2 more rushing. Honorable mentions: Calvin Johnson for continuing his 2 TD-per-game streak, the Lions coming back from down eleven touchdowns with 45 seconds left, the 5 return TD game Sunday night, the fact that the top 4 passing yardage weeks in NFL history are weeks 1-4 of this season... It's been a crazy year.

'Saw that coming' of the week: Cam Newton had another big game this week... and lost.

'Didn't see that coming' of the week: Kansas City winning. Indianapolis trying to win. San Fran winning.

Corrections to week 4 scores must be received by the kickoff of the first week 5 game. Please verify your scores prior to Sunday's games. Corrections to week 3 scores are closed.

Yeah, I'm killing it with around 13 points right now .... [cue sounds of weeping]

I wish I was doing that well.
“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” - H.L. Mencken

I'm annoyed with myself... during the pregame report I heard that Berrian and Winfield were out for MIN and foolishly changed my pick to ARI. Brought me from 17 down to 15. Ugh! Also kicking myself for my 'upset' pick of JAX. (Well, I suppose that pick did upset me)
