Well my very poor showing at the end has hopefully emboldened me to be more decisive. So IN.

I'll play, but don't put me down officially yet.

From looking back at the League Sign-up Thread, it looks like there are a few that signed up for the league that didn't play in the first game:

stessier, Lassr, Scoop, Unagi, purge

There may even be other regulars not on that list that are interested.

I'll give some of the others a chance to sign up, but you can count me in to fill in the game's roster, if these others don't fill it.

I was under the impression Purge wanted in the last game and was disappointed to miss it. Someone might want to drop a PM his way.

I'd like to play but I'm still playing the other game. I don't like to play 2 at once.

I will also volunteer to sit out if others that have not played in the first round want to play.

I suggest if there aren't enough spots left for those of that played the first game, that the mod does a random selection to see who gets the slots. :D

This issue will keep coming up everytime we start a new game. I think we should just set up a standard way of handling it. Just my humble opinion. :D

I can give up my seat if we need to.

I think maybe we give seats to those that did not play the last game first, and then the rest of us that wanted in get a random shot at the seats left.. With those willing to step aside, only added to the random group if there is space for us?

<shrug> But whatever works.

With stess, Lassr, and Unagi passing and with Scoop now signed up, it looks like there is room for me to play.

I sent a PM to purge (maybe a duplicate if others did as well), so we'll see if he wants spot 8.

That should open spot 9 for me, but keep me "tentative" until it becomes clear that no one else wants the last couple of spots.

I like Isgrimnur's priority list in the "WW Game "league"?" thread to determine how to handle games where more than 9 want to play.

It's nice to see that there's a good, healthy interest in the game.

I didn't hear back from purge on the PM I sent him (he hasn't even picked it up yet), so he must be out of pocket temporarily, but it won't be long until Game 3.

I gladly say give spot #9 to Lassr, since he missed the first game.

Ok, we're potentially full.

I've PMed Grund and Qantaga to see if either one of them wants Newcastle's slot due to semi-apathy. If either one does, we'll switch them out, and we'll be good to go!

Based on PMs and apathy, Grundbegriff is taking the final slot for newcastle.

A new thread is going up soon, with PMs to follow.

New dog.

"New" in French is complex. Normally you have "nouveau and nouvelle", masculine and feminine. However, there's also a "nouvel" (masculine), and in certain phrases left over from old French you'll find "neuf" (masculine) and "neuve" (feminine). Neufchâteau/Neufchâtel are examples of this usage.

fascinating....i was thinking....the nouveau...and thought you meant "new" but was wondering what language...ah well...education strikes again...dang it!

Would think that the neuf usage would be more germanic influenced however.

If you push back far enough-- say, to the Merovingians-- then the Franks were a Germanic tribe.
