OK can i place my supply token into my Research & training - or do i need to place 2 time tokens there...or can i place 2 time tokens there?

-doing this will gain me the information tokens right? And those are valuable due to helping me gain retail space?

Where is a copy of the rulebook? I can see SpaceLord's summaries in the thread, of course, but it'd be nice if there's a copy of the rulebook that I could print out and read leisurely. The BGG thread has a summary document but not (from what I can tell) a copy of the rulebook.

If it's here and I'm just missing it then I apologize.

I was reading through his examples for one. Then skimming through his other posts on the thread. Really kind of complicated to be honest. Just stumbling along blindfolded it feels like.

Also he has this link:

I think patience is a needed commodity here as us newbs get our feet wet & muddied.

There is also something they call "print and play" so you can get a really good idea of the game mechanics.

SpaceLord posted a link to the rulebook in his recruiting thread.

I was going to repost the link, so you don't have to click over to the recruiting thread, but the forum won't let me because I'm new here:

To use R&T, you'd place 1 disk in that spot, discard your starting Supply, and gain 3 information immediately.

As for selling goods at Retail, you'd go on the main board Factory spot:

Image

That'd cost you 2/2, and your Supply disk.

At the end of the turn, those disks move here:

Image

Remember from earlier, this a Stable year. There will be between 3 and 5 demand for goods this turn. It's pretty much a sure thing at this point that all disks placed in Retail will be sold, for between 10 and 16 dollars.

It'd be easy to automate your turn. I'll handle it, since we are on an example round anyway.

I will pay i2/$2 and discard my Supply cube to place a disk onto the first Factory space. This leaves me with 3 disks to spend this turn.

So my understanding is that we started with $7 and 7 information, amongst other things, such that having hired an employee I currently have:

$1
1 information
1 supply cube
4 time
0 Popularity (do we all start at 0?)

Also, my understanding is that during this scheduling business phase we can do either player board actions or main board actions, and that each is as follows:

Player board actions:

- Meeting Room
- Training Room
- Advertising
- R&T

Main board / city actions:

Consultants
Marketing
Retail outlets
Factory
Construction

Is that it, or am I missing anything?

So, I will use my upgraded training room to train my new employee using 1 time disk, leaving me with 3 time remaining.

You gained income of 9 bucks this turn, and started with 7 info. You paid 6/6 for the new employee, so you have 3 bucks and 1 Info left over, as well as 4 time disks.

There's another spot on the player board:

Assembly: Place 3 disks here to gain 1 Supply cube. The Remodeled Assembly requires just 2 disks.

Popularity: You're correct, we all start at 0. The player on top of the stack is "first" when they're stacked up, and we're stacked in player order for now. If anyone gains 1 or more Pop. this turn, they'll go to 1.

At the end of each turn, every player drops 1 spot in Popularity. However, since any players moving from 1 to 0 will be on top, they'll be ahead of anyone they are stacked on top of.

Good move. As mentioned earlier, there are 3 spots to potentially gain Popularity. It's more difficult, and more rewarding, to place tokens in Print and Broadcast than Advertising. GTBA's disk in Print will probably get him a bump in Pop, since it costs at least 2/2 to get a disk there later, and it's often not worth competing for this section early in the game when money, time and info resources are slim.

Outlets:

(I believe these will be called Warehouses in the final game)

Image

It's expensive to build your own products, especially as a fledgling company. That's why going to Outlets can be a great time-saver.

During the Planning phase, players may place 1 time disk onto the leftmost spot that contains a Supply cube. If they do, they pay the listed money *or* Info. Notice that the Assembly spot on each player's board costs 3 disks, and even the upgraded Assembly spot takes two disks to create a Supply cube.

During the Execute phase, they claim their Supply cubes. Note that this means that this cube cannot be used that turn.

At the end of every turn, a single Supply cube is placed onto the Outlet. So that means it’s possible that the cheapest spots may not always contain Supply cubes.

VERY quick summary of the actions and results for my benefit;

- Meeting Room - spend 1 time to get 1 info
- Training Room - spend 2 time to train 1 employee (who then gives +3 time subsequently)
- Advertising - spend 1 time to get 1 networking
- R&T - spend 1 time and 1 supply to gain 3 information
- Assembly - spend 3 disks to gain 1 supply

Main board / city actions:

Consultants - pay between $6 - $3, to hopefully get 10i once at least 1 turn has passed
Marketing - spend $1 and 1 time to place onto the marketing track, then $2/2i for broadcast, $1/1i for print, and free for networking (towards popularity).
Retail outlets - pay 1i+ OR $2+ to gain 1 supply
Factory - pay 1 time + $2 + 2i + 1 supply to produce 1 good and send to retail
Construction - pay $4 + 4i. Then later pay either $1 + 1i for a tenant improvement, OR $2 + 2i x floor # to add a new floor.

If I want to do networking, is there any reason to pay onto the marketing track, rather than do advertising on the player board? Do you get the second, free disk when you place into networking via advertising that you do via the marketing track?

There's basically 3 levels of marketing. The basic Advertising space on each player board puts 1 disk onto Networking without paying the 1/1 required to go onto the track. It also sort of discourages others from placing in the "free" spot on the left side.

As to your 2nd question, no, you don't get a 2nd disk in Networking.

Yes, looks good.

Factory goods are placed in order, during the Resolve Business phase. Consultants will pay out if existing disks are supported.

Note that putting disks on the main board does *not* prevent you from using those disks in the next round.

Newcastle will use his last two disks in Training for his new employee.

That leaves El Guapo with 2 disks, 2 Money and 0 info. You're up, EG.

Execute Agenda – Example Turn

Consulting:
There’s no disks there yet, so it will be skipped

Marketing:

Image

Here’s the current status. There’s but one decision to be made here:

Option 1: El Guapo, either place your disk in the 1 spot on the Networking space(and gain a bonus disk)
Option 2: Pay 1/1 to put that disk onto Print, along with GTBA.

Here’s what each decision would do:

Option 1: El Guapo would have 3 disks in Networking. It takes 3 disks to advance 1 spot in Pop, so these disks would give you one bump. Because you have the majority(3-0-0-0) as well, you’d get a 2nd bump. Then, all three disks would get removed, since each of them ‘participated’ in giving you a bonus.

GTBA would then resolve the Print space. In this case, he gains 1 Pop. This is because it takes 2 disks to advance 1 space. However, he still has a majority, so that 1 disk does give him and advance. Then his disk would get removed, since it gave him a bonus.

Option 2: If El Guapo paid to place his disk in Print, we’d have a more interesting scenario. Both he and GTBA would have 1 disk, so neither would have a majority. No one gains a bonus from Print, but both players’ disks stay put, to be counted again next turn. Remember that leaving disks on the main board isn’t really a penalty, since you always get your full allotment of time disks.

Then, Networking would be resolved, and El Guapo would gain 1 Pop, in a similar way to GTBA does from option 1, he has just 1 disk, but it’s the most, and that disk would be resolved.

Consequences:

Option 1:
El Guapo: 2 Pop
GTBA: 1 Pop
Newcastle: 0 Pop
SpaceLord: 0 Pop(4th place because my disk was behind Newcastle’s at game start)

Option 2:
El Guapo: 1 Pop
GTBA: 0 Pop
Newcastle: 0 Pop(3rd place because his disk was behind GTBA’s at game start)
SpaceLord: 0 Pop(4th place because my disk was behind Newcastle’s at game start)

Seems like networking's the best option. I'd be the most popular (I'm popular!) either way, it's cheaper, and if I screw GTBA he's likely to want to screw me back at some point. So...

I'll put my disk into networking (plus the bonus disk)

Marketing Bonus:

This phase is a big reason to be popular. Every turn during this phase, the players, in the new turn order, will pick a benefit from the list below. Note that the player in last place gets *NO* bonus. Which is currently me.

$2

i2

Resolve Popularity:

All disks are now removed, since all of them gave the owners Pop. Now we re-order the turn order.

New Player Order:

1st: El Guapo: 2 Pop
2nd: GTBA: 1 Pop
3rd: Newcastle: 0 Pop
4th: SpaceLord: 0 Pop

This will be the turn order for turn 2, as well as any future decisions for turn 1. A side note is that at the end of all turns, all players drop 1 Popularity, but remain in the same order.

So at the start of turn 2, El Guapo will be at 1, and everyone else will be stacked in the 0 spot.

Remodeling And You

During the Schedule Business phase, during their action, a player may choose to play i3/$3 to Remodel. This is a free action.

An example:

I want to train an employee, and have 3/3 available. I want to save a disk, so I Remodel this:

Image

To this, and discard 3/3.

Image

As part of the same action, I then place 1 disk there, saving me 1 time disk.

Note that you can Remodel any player space into a Remodeled player space, i.e. if you want more storage space for Supply cubes, turn your Meeting Room into a Supply Closet.

And finally, every Remodeled room is worth 2 Prestige Points at game end.

You got 0 info right now, heh. It's hard to get info early in the game, especially in large batches, and you only get money at the beginning of the turn.

Personally, I'd take the 2 info benefit if I were you.
