However, I don't know what I'm doing. I see Grund's excellently presented rules, but what are the mechanics of playing a Werewolf-type game on the forum?

I've played WW (once) with live people, so it was easy to maintain the flow of the game. How does that flow work here?

I've been debating on joining. Call me an illiterate slob if you must, but Shakespeare is not really my thing. Not only that, but work has been kicking my ass and I have been putting in a lot of hours. I hate budget season. But it is WW, so I've been going back and forth.

I don't know who this Shakespeare fellow is that everyone keeps mentioning. I thought we were relieving the classic board game where white was the good guys and black was the wolves. I'm not sure why Grund came up with all the funny names for the pieces, but he's got that artistic bent so I'm just rolling with it.

Grund - could I request a cliff notes on the powers in play? I'll happily read through the descriptions and such, but didnt see a easy to digest listing.

Hopefully a few more will trickle in.

Slight rule revision:
I wrote: 'If Othello scans him on a night when Cassio has successfully protected another player from an attack, Othello will detect that Cassio is a "friend"; otherwise, Cassio will look like a "foe" if Othello scans him.'
I think the odds of a genuine protection by Cassio are low enough that this would be more interesting as follows:
'If Othello scans him on or after a night when Cassio has successfully protected another player from an attack, Othello will detect that Cassio is a "friend"; otherwise, Cassio will look like a "foe" if Othello scans him.'

Rule/Power summary:

Evil:

Iago: 'zerker. Always scans as "friend".

Roderigo: Scans nightly for normals if Iago is alive. ("... is a Venetian gentleman" or "... is not a Venetian gentleman")

Potential Turncoat:

Emilia: Seeks hanky nightly. If she finds it, she'll convert from good to evil.

Good:

Othello: scans nightly for alignment ("friend" or "foe"). His scan can be mistaken: Iago will always scan as "friend", Cassio will scan as "foe" unless he has successfully guarded someone, and if Emilia is evil Desdemona will scan as "foe".

Desdemona: No powers. If lynched (day kill), then Othello (if alive) will also die.

Cassio: protect self or other; no twice in a row; must actually protect someone to save his reputation as a "friend".

i think so. I really think we're in the middle of a dry spell in terms of participation. I'd say fire the thing up and launch it!
