It does. His engine roll is 13, and everyone else is in 4th.

Done. 2 Brake WP remaining. Turn complete.

Isgrimnur (White 1): gear selection is 4th. Movement roll is 7. Movement is irrelevant, as I've shorted yet another turn.

You need to update my brake points on the chart when you have a chance...

Side note: shouldn't engine rolls be triggered by a 29 or 30 in 6th gear? It seems odd to me that (unless I'm missing some rule) you are more likely to blow your engine out at 5th gear than you are at 6th gear.

Caveat: I'm not a car guy. coop might be able to extrapolate more or tell me that I'm full of crap,

It's a 10% chance on both. You're redlining the engine at that point. From the engine's standpoint, I don't think it matters what gear that you're in.

But what I mean is that in 5th gear you trigger the roll on a 20, so you have a 1 in 20 chance on any fifth gear roll.

In 6th gear you hit it on a 30, so you have a 1 in 30 chance on any 6th gear roll.

Seems like it shouldn't be safer in 6th gear, but it is.

Your odds are off. Look at the gearing chart.

5th gear results are 11-20, 6th gear results are 21-30. In both cases, your chances are 1 in 10 to trigger the rolls.

Thanks for running this again, Issy.

Coop had a near-perfect run, didn't he? I don't think he shorted a single turn.

I was trying to think if there was a way to do it in fewer turns. It would be possible to do it with 1 less turn by skipping the pitstop, but new tires were a necessity for me and you'd need even better rolls to avoid that. I think there were 2 rolls where I had a 50% chance of shorting and maybe a couple 33% rolls. Everything just worked out for me and nothing worked out for bb so we are nicely balanced. :P

Good race, everyone.

I think I'm either getting the hang of it or this track made it much easier to avoid shorting turns. It also helps if you don't have people constantly getting in your way. ;)

Yeah, aside from all the partially or entirely exploding cars this track seemed easier somehow - I shorted maybe two turns during the race I think, and only one of those was bad luck IIRC. That could just be how the dice went this time around, though.

Thanks for running the game again, Isg.

Glad to do it. I think the lack of another straight kinda turns this into a low-gear turns track with the one 5th-6th gear straight.
