Intro -
Ok this will be a Rock & Roll themed WW. The rules are quite a bit different than our normal set. Give it a read through and let me know what you think. I’ve added some discussion bullet points. I am open to criticism and ways to make it better. I really want to try the Ying & Yang and the amulet of protection. I tried to balance this as best as possible. There are a lot of moving parts to it as well. I think it can be pulled off and I think it could be fun.If it passes muster would like to run it AFTER lassr's BSG. Just wanted to get this up.

EDIT - will add flavor that's easy. I just need to finesse rules please.

ROOCKING OUT!

Full Flavor text will be coming at game start. Keeping some hidden, just because.

Good Guys

Lead Singer (Seer) –Each night you scan one player and discover find their their true alignment.
If you find a wolf, only learn alignment not true role. If find villager – learn true role.
Will learn roles of Hipster (Wolf), Drunk, Old man, & Dire wolf.

The Lead Guitarist (Hunter)– You shred man. You have a guitar that kills. Literally. Once per game day you can smite someone with your power chords. This will out the Hunter. (Kill 1 person during day Per game).

The True Fan– (Ying & Yang- Opposite of Hipster). Have two names but don’t know roles. You know that they are the the Drunk & the wolf seer; just not sure which one. You can not state in thread you know their roles or identify them. If you state their roles the game is forfeit. If wolf seer dies & drunk dies or outs, you can then state the following day.


Roadie (Seer Body Double/ Lead singers body double.) –If scanned by team wolf, you appear to be the seer. If scanned by seer, true role is learned. Person knows their role.

Keith Richards (Drunken Lazarus)– You have found the fountain of life. Once per game, you can bring 1 person back to life once certain criteria is met. This outs you.
-Initially person is given “Villager role” however after criteria achieved, gets PM stating who their true roles is and that they are Keith Richards”.

Criteria -Power only awakens within you once 1 villager & 1 wolf has been lynched. Or three days has been passed. Whichever happens first.





TEAM EVIL (Record label/Soules Suits)

Wolf #1 Seer – Able to scan 1 person at night and learn true role except for: Roadie reads seer & Dire wolf reads villager

Wolf #2– (2 extra stealth votes). During game can place an extra vote or two on a lynch. This can be reserved as in “if X reaches n-1 or n-2 add an extra vote or two”. Only 1 hold allowed at time. Votes can be split or used together. Once used, votes are gone.

Wolf #3 – Delayed Berserker - If lynched, the wolves get two kills the following night. Think berserker, but during the night time. Wolves select whom they kill. If shot by Hunter, neutralizes his power.


Hipster – (Ying & Yang- opposite of True Fan-) You’re on team wolf. Think sorcerer like. The wolves do not know you. You do not know the wolves. You know from the start who the seer could be. Have two names, but you don’t know their roles. They could be either the Seer (Lead Singer) & Dire wolf. You can not communicate it in any way. If you do, the game is forfeited. However, if BOTH are dead you can state who they are. Counts as a wolf & if lynched shows up as wolf. If all wolves die, hipster takes over night kills.


OTHER ROLES

Old man (Dies on night X)–You’ve been rocking out since time began. You’re grandson was born when Chubby Checkers did the twist. Mick Jaggers Gramps and you go way back. You’ve been there since the birth of Rock and have followed that journey. That journey shall end soon. Enjoy the shows, one of ‘em is gonna be your last.
Hidden Role. You will die on night X (RNG 1-7). Counts as villager. Person is unaware of their role.

The unknown Prodigy – (Dire Wolf) – Hidden Role. No one knows you. Not even you. But if you had a guitar in hand, you’d shred, like big time. You’re so good, that when the bad man comes for you at night, you blow him away. He just wont what hit him.
If attacked by Wolves at night the following night Wolves do not get a kill. Wolves will submit a kill, will be told “no kill”. Will read as if they were blocked by Amulet. If lynched no power; show villager. Person given role of villager at start and does not know who they are. Counts as Villager.

Concert goers (Villagers)– Hell yeah man. You just want to tour with the band. Feeling the groove every night is what it’s all about. Selling beads and pot brownies to make the next show, just the way man. But you’re normal, got no power, just the desire to hear some righteous tunes.


THE AMULET
The original Demo (Amulet of Protection ). Oh yeah, You got it. It’s the TAPE man. THE TAPE. When the band was unsigned, unknown and just rocking out. Hear the smashing drums, the crunching bass, that funky fuzz from the guitarist and of course those rocking pipes. The very first recording sesh! Groovy! But, it’s just too damn good. You can only listen to it once. Listening to it again will blow your mind, literally.
– Person will not die if they have the amulet. Person possessing Amulet will not die via lynch, night kill or Hunter. Person receives Amulet prior to lynch and before night phase. Protection lasts day received and following night.
-Initial Amulet given by RNG.
-If receive amulet a 2nd time you will die.
-May not discuss amulet if you have it. If you survive a lynch you can admit you have/had it.
-no discussion permitted for a system to pass it safely; no hints …nothing. Its like fight club, it doesn’t exist.
CAN NOT say “don’t want amulet” or “give it to me”.
- I’ll allow “hints”, as long as they are not overt & blatant. They got to be subtle. Can PM me if you have questions on a specific statement.
-Reminder for those sowing hints; the wolves are also looking for those hints, and they can easily toss you the amulet. Sow at your own risk.
-Amulet must be passed on during the day phase prior to the lynch. If not passed by lynch RNG will determine next recipient post lynch and prior to night phase.
-A reserve order is allowed ie “ I will pass it to X prior to the lynch. Or I will pass it to Ann when she reaches N-1”
-Wolves allowed to discuss if they have received the amulet amongst themselves



ORDER OF OPERATIONS

NIGHT
Amulet Passed (if not passed during day)
Good Seer submits
Wolf seer submits
Wolves submit night kill
Old Man dies (if applicable)
Drunk becomes Keith Richards (if applicable)
Results & Notifications sent out
Dawn breaks


Day

Hunter shoots (if applicable)
Amulet passed
Amulet RNG redistributed (if applicable)
Lynch Occurs


FAQ & Thoughts
-Dire Wolf - If scanned by wolves; they could in theory do this: have Double kill wolf lynched, select dire wolf and it consumes both kills that night.
-Amulet will be passed to someone on Night 0. They must pass it on Day 1; they can not receive it again or else they die.
-If receive amulet for a 2nd time, you die during the day. Right then and there.
–If Amulet causes a death it will then be redistributed RNG to someone who has not had it. Person receives it prior to lynch
-Death by Amulet doesn’t reveal alignment.
-If death is caused by an amulet, players will know.
-Hunter neutralizes the Delayed bersker wolf powers.
-If old man dies while holding amulet, it will be redistributed to a player who's not had it yet. Player will receive amulet at day break. Can hold on to it that day & night; following day must pass it.

CONCEPTS & Discussion
-Seer learns alignment on wolves not role (except Hipster).
Ying & Yang – True fan & hipster. Basic concept is that one person on the other team has a pretty good idea who the other teams seer is. They have very similar powers and mirror each other.
For Hipster – was trying to create some doubt and some danger with what he knows. Hence the Seer & Dire wolf.
For True Fan – The danger quotient for him was the drunk & wolf seer.

Amulet – Gives a player an opportunity to give another protection.

Can remove the following from the game if not enough sign up. Drunk & Dire wolf go hand in hand.
-Old man can be removed also


I think the hidden roles add some extra spice to the game as well.
Does this seem as if it would be fun?
Does this seem balanced? Is it slanted against the wolves? After all there is the dire wolf that can screw up their plans, the hunter, seer, roadie & true fan.

Bottom line I really want to try the Ying & yang element and the amulet aspect.


Thoughts/Comments/Discussion/Questions
-Should Old man replace the night kill? Leaning no. For balance purposes, it hurts the wolves and they have multiple challenges from team good.

Discussion –
- True fan – Knowing wolf seer & drunk are those two names balanced? Or should it be roadie & evil seer?
Hipster - At start have two potential names: Dire wolf & Seer. Other options are: Seer & roadie; Or seer & old man? What gives the best balance?



AMULET
Discussion – Should I allow hints for the amulets? I don’t want the system gamed, as is prone sometimes. But I think something subtle would be appropriate and would add another layer to the game.
-Should the wolf team be able to pass around the amulet? I am torn on this, but leaning no. I think it would be a pretty big advantage. However, there are significant hurdles they are up against.

The idea is nice but you start with rock stuff and ends with non rock stuff, like the amulet of protection, why not something like , I dunno, the golden guitar.

Also wolves could be "the manager" and "music critic" , etc.

Oh everything will be spruced up. Its just the mechanics I want to nail. I will make everything much more rock & roll themed..all the roles, etc. I have ideas for it. That's the least of my concerns.

As I said, I just want to nail the mechanics and make sure folks think A. it can work. B. it can be fun C. its balanced. That's why I am hoping to get the folks who are good at tearing things up (ie stessier, remus, CR, Lassr) in here to look at it. I'll work on streamlining it a bit more later on tonight when I have time to make it more presentable.

I figure Lassr's will run for 3 weeks or so. So I've got time. Its just the mechanics I want to get right.

I think these are the most interesting roles in your rulez however I do not understand them. This needs to be fleshed out so we understand how the mechanics work.

I don't like the idea of someone being unable to announce knowledge they know because it will break the game. I think you need a better mechanic for this. Is the Drunk then Keith Richards? Better to clarify that.

Ok, I like that certain roles are landmines for the Seer.

I like the extra votes but is it one vote or two? Better to clarify. Maybe you mean, can secretly finish the votes if player is at N-1 or N-2? Why not make the hold a one time power for each extra vote? I am guessing hold means you say I put my secret votes on this player and if they get to N-2 voting is complete.


Love the Delayed Berserker idea.

Don't understand Old man. Sorry. Does the old man just die randomly? Is this to confuse the village if two deaths happen at night? Doesn't seem like much fun for the Old Man. Unless you give him something fun to do after death? Maybe he can haunt the f*ck out of everyone. For example, can still post in the main forum, can not vote. Can be revived by Keith Richard but this outs Keith.

The unknown Prodigy is interesting but can you give me something fun to do if he blocks the night attack? And something the wolves are able to counter. Something like the forces of good versus the forces of darkness kind of stuff.

You could also make these other roles have a random existence as in they may or may not be in the game??

Do the concert goers get lighters at least?

Ok, the Amulet/Mix Tape. maybe this is your special power that the village needs to get to the Young Prodigy so his power is unlocked but if the evil old timer gets it he uses it to unlock some kind of evil power. How is the Mix Tape passed around? Can the wolves get it? What can they do with it?

Scoop - thanks for the feedback. Its clear in my mind, but hey...guess not explaining it well. But all good.

RE: ying & yang - the way I thought it out is that the person has two names and he knows that those two people are definitely the wolf seer & say dire wolf. But he doesnt know which is which. So it gives the player a bit of extra information to try to ferret out the truth; but at the same time there's no certainty. They need to figure out who is who. In addittion it raises the question: how hard do they get this person lynched? Obviously getting the wolf seer or good seer lynched is a huge boon to their respective side. But how do you ferret out the truth? Also if you know 1 wolf, can you deduce who the others are? If you know the seer, maybe you can watch him and see how he's going after people. Maybe a well timed defense from the hipster can save a wolf colleague.

I kind of thought it could be another way giving other players avenues at deducing or figuring out the game. I also wanted to make sure that the person who had this valuable knowledge respected it and didn't blow up the game. Its for them to deduce what is what and how to work with it. I kind of thought, they might look for connections and also try to get this person lynched. Also, on the flip side as anther player you could wonder why is X so focused on Newcastle & Scoop? Does he know something I dont?

Also - I wanted to add danger to the knowledge they have. If they go after the wrong person to get lynched, it would cause their side to be impacted negativgely (ie the prodigy/dire wolf - in essence blocks a kill & the drunk - gives life). OK so with the dire wolf, upon further reflection getting them lynched doesn't hurt team wolf. That needs to be rethought and tweaked. I wanted a downside to the hipsters knowledge. As it is right now he can go full bore on trying to get those two lynched. There's no consequence for being wrong. Maybe the old man can figure into this somehow? Maybe if old man is lynched instead of night killed, his spirit protects the team? Or maybe he can guide the seer to a wolf?

Keith richards = drunk/drunken lazarus (I'll clarify it).

re: wolf # - 2 extra votes. And they can be used together or at different times. You can finish a player at N-2 if you have both votes remaining. Or you could finish 2 different players at N-1 if you have the votes. The hold/order I kind of thought as a courtesy since I know folks are busy in real life and can't devote 24/7 attention to the game. But only 1 hold at a time. They cant say: If joe, bobby and brian hit N-2, then I will add the two votes. Can only be 1 individual at a time. Even if you have 2 votes.

re: - old man dies randomly. It's a way to inject uncertainty in the game. Also it could cause the villagers to be confused as to why Bobby died, when Joe was the real threat. It just seemed like a neat idea. Yeah doesn't seem fun for them. Maybe there's a way to spruce it up; maybe the day they die they get to do something. Or maybe the night of they can PM someone. I dont think scan. Maybe throw a protection out? I'm not sure. I'm leery of balance to be honest because I am thinking that the game is still slightly balanced against the wolves.

RE: prodigy - basically if they die via night kill it prevents the wolves from getting a night kill the following night.

The other goal of the hidden roles, is the players might think its them and it might change their play style. I mean c'mon every time you get a PM dont you secretly wish you have a juicy role like seer, hunter or wolf; and then you're dissapointed that "ah man, I'm just a cruddy villager".

The other thing am concerned with powering up too many people is that 1. I still feel as if the game is slanted against the wolves. 2. There's a lot of powers running around now as is.

Free lighters? What do they want next? Yeah I'll relent, concert goers get their own lighter. They can also buy the t-shirts! :mrgreen:

RE: Amulet - basically the player who has the amulet sends the GM (ME) a PM saying " Hey i want to pass the amulet to Bobby" or they could say "if bobby reaches n-1 I am going to pass him the amulet"

I kind of figured the amulet would add in another layer as well. Also give the villagers something to think about when passing it around. Also if YOU KNOW and just 100% trust your gut that someone is innocent and they are about to get lynched; it gives the amulet holder a way to change the flow of the game. They can go "Ok I know Bobby is innocent, I'll toss him the amulet, save his ass so he can fight another day". Its a way to thwart the majorities will.

Wolves can get the amulet & can pass it around. Just not between themselves ( i think that's OP; BUT it could be interesting). But if they get it a 2nd time then they die.

I prefer that the roles be defined prior to the game. So that way the players know what they are up against vs. not knowing. This is a bit different than our normal WW and I kind of want to see if it works. And I think the best way is to create certainty in the rule set.

Absolutely up for refining. I know it's rough. I just wanted to change up how we play our games and add a helluva lot of spice. Since it seems certain patterns are repeating and I want to create new patterns and new game play methods.

Ok. Quick thought. I love the secret information that is dangerous because it would lead them down the wrong path. How about this? Instead of saying they can't reveal the information instead make their death a kind of harsh penalty to the village. Maybe when he dies by night his death also cause a random villager death as well.

This should help to keep this player to want to survive as much as long as possible and keep mum about they know until confronted by votes.

Just a quick thought

How bout this scoop - Hipster knows old man & seer - if the old man gets lynched, the seer or a random villager gets the name of a wolf, including his own possibly.

Old man stays same in being unknown. Could possibly remove him dying on night X. I still like the concept of dying on night x though.

That's workable also. Need to refine it as you said. I just want their to be a big disincetive for the ying/yang to come out and say I know X & Y could either be the seer or X. That would ruin the game I think.
