Got it yesterday, but completely slipped my mind. Sorry about that. Will take care of it tonight.

There's definitely a lot of fighting going on.

BTW, whoever's in charge of those large birds and whatever running around my territory has one turn to begin withdrawing them.

I'm going in for surgery tomorrow at 6am (EST). It is supposed to be same-day, but if it becomes complicated I may be admitted.
I'm trying to have all my affairs in order, so I'll check my mail before leaving... :wink:

edit: any of your stinky heroes ihanging out on my lawn are an exception of course, they will be killed on sight.

So are giant rats really good? The "banding +5" ability seems really good, because it becomes pretty cheap to crank out an army of strength 6 guys (that can be built 1 turn / unit)?

Your giant rats kinda suck. Mine have "banding +6", so I get a 7 stack of then for strength 7. 1 gold maintenance each. 10 gold to buy the production in a town.

But... 7 turns to get there, and each lost rat results in that much weaker in the next fight (assuming they survive the first with only 1 hit each).

And only 1 army slot left to put a unit to provide a buff/debuff.

But, if you have some units to attack with while you're waiting, an 8 stack of giant rats is a decent defense for only 8 gold per turn. And they get the city fortification buff.

Offensively, I've found in AI games, they're generally good cannon fodder. They're not going to walk all over the map though.

Well that turn didn't go as well as it could have. My medium sized army with powerful units lost to a neutral army, despite my win estimate as 8 out 10. Stupid advisor apparently didn't realize (as I didn't) that one of the neutral army units can kill other units automatically, no matter how many hits are left. :hawk:

Also, my newish hero completed a quest, but all the reward options were grayed out. I clicked on one of them ("An ancient tome") but it doesn't look like my hero got any reward. :cry:

One question: how do you arrange your armies to select the order they will attack in?

Fight order

Missiles and assassin can instakill.

There are arrow buttons, and you can swap armies in the order by clicking them.

In the bigger buttons that information/reports/save/options, etc, the top left button (looks like a flag) contains the FIGHT ORDER option.

The estimator is not always great. I've lost a significant number of battles that were 7-8/10 chance to win and a few that were 9 in 10.

Aside from missiles and assassins doing insta-kill, you have things like lightening/acid/poison that cut your hit points in 1/2 or other things like that and sure random luck. Very frustrating!

Still... it's a very fun game. :)

As to your hero rewards, you should have clicked one and gotten a reward. The tomes usually give you like 3-4 XP. If it was a level 1 hero (maybe even level 2), it'll be enough that next turn, you will have leveled up.
