The werewolf and to a lesser extent vampire things are not for me but it was cool seeing you do your thing Paingod.
I'm not sure how much of that Tempest problem was me. I've never actually played in a group before that, and had no idea how to get aggro and hold it. The times where a boss was focused on me seemed almost accidental. I know my Werewolf form can take (and deliver) a beating, and I wasn't spamming my heal fast enough to keep me at 100% (since she could hit me for 90% of my total health, I needed to be at 100%). It took me too long to learn to adapt to her attacks and dodge the biggest, nastiest ones.

I also apologize for running ahead like a rabid dingo in our first dungeon. I did try and calm down after that. When I solo through a Delve, I rip everything apart quickly and then circle back through to loot all the containers and bookshelves while Werewolf recharges. That doesn't really work in a group.

No part of any problem was yours--at all. I think everyone did great--what I'm saying is we didn't have an actual tank with tanking skills to gain and hold aggro from the bosses and to mitigate damage.

I think all things considered it went extremely well. Even groups with actual tanks still wipe--especially the first time they ever run something together!

I'm hoping to build a tank but at level 12 I have a ways to go.

Feel free to offer advice on how to do it.

Dragon Knight is the natural class for it. Just take the skills under 1 Hand and Shield for starters. I don't remember the specifics but I'd be willing to bet you'll find both damage mitigation and taunting skills in that line.

Deltia does a great job of explaining and breaking down builds and this one is specifically for Dragon Knight tanking.

I'm a Nord. So far I've vest in mainly stamina with a few health points. I've been spending most of my character points on armor (heavy), passive armor, Dragon Knight, and fire lash type stuff. Two handed mostly with one point in sword and shield.

You should enjoy the ride and worry less about a build at this point. I've heard more than once that a Respec is pretty inexpensive (like 100g per point rolled back) and you can roll back pretty much everything except your race and class. Even then, any skill levels you've earned stay with you (I think) - so you could master anything and roll back the points, but still return to using it later exactly where you left off. I've read this is the same for Werewolf and Vampire skills, too - master Werewolf and remove the curse, rollback points - then go master Vampire.

I hit Level 30 last night and still haven't figured out my build. I know I like 2H swords a lot, but haven't figured out my secondary. Bows aren't catching my attention, and I'm starting to think I should drop in something with defensive bonuses instead of trying to attack a different way. While I like 2H weapons, I simply adore fighting as a Werewolf. I still don't melt groups of enemies as well as a AoE Dual Wield/Bow Sorcerer - but I'm okay with assassination, sneaking, and going berserk as a werewolf.

Speaking of which - Does Werewolf ever "wear off" and stop being able to replenish? Last night I ran a Delve in Wolf form and cycled it three times before I decided to leave. I managed to stay transformed through the entire three cycles, including killing the boss three times. If I'm able to always feed, could I theoretically be a wolf forever?

I finally finished the main quest in Reaper's March (or maybe I should call it the Mane quest). The story line for the Aldmeri Dominion continues. However, I finished enough to be able to buy Sleek Creek, so I am now the proud owner of an empty house. I put a couple paintings on the market a few weeks back and they haven't sold yet - I think I'll withdraw at least one and use it for decoration. Yay!

Press down until the tumbler starts to shake, then stop. If the tumbler doesn't stay in that place, try again now that you know about where that tumbler will click in.

Hint: There are only 3 levels a tumbler will click into.
If you need more lockpicks, look in our guild bank. I think there are around 150 in there. Take as many as you want. I keep finding lockpicks and usually I put them in the guild bank.

I also find a large number of them, amusingly, while breaking and entering. They cost 1g to Launder and make legal, so I do. Same for crafting materials. Once you get the hang of picking locks, they all become trivial - even the "Master" locks. The only difference is the timer.

How many of the Elder Scrolls games use the same graphic for lockpicking? I had never noticed either - a guy I game with pointed it out.

I always fence stolen lockpicks because they're so common and you can only put 200 of an item in a slot. And excess lockpicks are the first thing I destroy if I've run out of slots and can't get to a merchant (like, in the middle of a delve).

I certainly get more than I use and am over 100, but nowhere near 200. I've been collecting them without selling them for the last 30 levels. If I roll over 200, I'll drop that 200 in the Guild Bank and start a new pile.
dbt1949 wrote:How many slots in your pack do you guys have?
I'm up to 100. When I purge and head out adventuring, I have 10 items in there to start - three kinds of Potion, a Buff (Health/Stamina Food), Lockpicks, Soul Stones (Filled and Unfilled), my "Werewolf Nail Clippers" (a useless Treasure item I think is funny to keep on my Werewolf-specc'd guy), and a couple other odds and ends. I keep all of the equipment I want to research stored in the bank, along with all of the Treasure Maps I've found but haven't tried to use, and a few disguises I've picked up through questing. I think my bank storage is at like 75/90 filled.

I also have 40,000+g in my inventory. Short of bag space, houses, horses, and "Player Guild" items it seems almost useless (for me). I'm not sure I need a house, I don't need a new horse, I could use more bag space - but it's not essential, and I've only ever had to shop at a Guild when I needed Alchemy ingredients for a daily crafting quest.

This reminds me - how do I quickly/easily cycle the items in my "Q" Quickslot? I have things set up there, but only ever get the first one. I'm not sure how to roll through the list so I can restore Magicka or Stamina in the middle of a fight.

At the bank just click on "guild bank" then click on the "withdraw" tab to take stuff out and "deposit' to put stuff in. I think the big problem right now is the guild bank is almost full so putting stuff in may be problematic without taking stuff out too.

I have 90 for each of my two characters. I'm not subscribed like the others here so my inventory management is constantly painful and most definitely the worst part of this game.

I'm not subscribed either and I agree. Inventory management is a pain.
I have 3 characters - two for solo (and occasional group) play and one for playing with my non-OO group. The two solo characters now have something like 150 or 160 backpack slots, and both are holding 80-100 items each.
The khajiit is holding armor and weapons that he's researching, plus lockpicks, some healing potions, some crafting mats and some treasure maps.
The solo mage is holding a few items for research, plus some lockpicks, healing potions, crafting mats and treasure maps.
The group guy is holding most of the treasure maps my various chars have found, plus a bunch of hand-me-down armor he needs to "grow" into.

The bank holds crafting mats - mostly for enchanting and weapon/armor traits. And I try to leave some slots for trading stuff among my chars.

I think some good stuff to put in the guild bank might be low-level ores, woods and fibers. Also furniture designs you can't make, recipes you can't use, crafting motifs you already have or can't yet use.

If any of you want to make furniture but don't have enough materials, try our guild bank. I've put a bunch of crafting mats in there, including ones for furniture making.

Just so dbt doesn't go and spend all his money on backpack slots - the first few upgrades aren't too, too expensive. Once the upgrade costs over 2500 g, it's cheaper to buy storage slots at the stables. You do this by talking to the stablemaster. You can buy 1 slot per day for 250, up to 60 slots. Obviously this takes a while.
I spent the additional money on more backpack upgrades after I had over 100,000 g.

If you're not doing a ton of crafting, you shouldn't need so many slots. I think you start with 50? Then buy 2 backpack upgrades, then just buy single slots at the stable.

The first upgrade was cheap and I had 70 total. The second round cost 2500 and only got me 10 more.
It'll be awhile before I get more.
Just got me a "house" in an inn. I guess I could buy/build a chest for it and store things there?

For 250gp a day you can upgrade your horse with one extra inventory slot. Talk to the stable manager and you get 3 choices...inventory, horse stamina and horse speed. Since I run just about everywhere I just put a point into the inventory each time. It's takes a while but it adds up.

I thought the mount inventory slots only activated while on a mount? It seemed silly to me... but if they're active all the time, then that's a bigger thing.

I'd been trying and trying to get some Elegant Gloves to drop because the ones I'd bought in a guild store were level 16. I was having no luck at all until I read that they only dropped from bosses in public dungeons. So I tried running the public dungeon in Auridon solo and, to my surprise, found out I could solo it. So, I did the quest there and got the completion accomplishment and the very last boss I killed dropped the gloves.

I have to say I really like the way they've made so much dungeon content available to everyone without having to group to get to it. The only content in Auridon I haven't seen now is the Banished Cells group dungeon.

I hit level 34 last night and even without training gear the rate of leveling is still pretty swift. 50 is definitely within sight now. I just hope my build stays somewhat viable after Morrowind drops next week.

I've wandered into two different dungeon instances solo and left twice with my tail between my legs after being thoroughly thrashed by the first groups of enemies. I'm just not built to take on 6-8 enemies at once. I might be able to as a werewolf, but each time that ability has been on cooldown. I just assumed I didn't belong there.

I find a lot of end bosses are too much for me. So I have to give it up or wait for someone else to come along and we gangbang em.
I was just in some jungle dungeon with lots of bookshelves with lots of advancements and got lost down there, so I waited by the endboss and everytime someone would attack him I would help. Icollected his booty about 5 times I think.
I almost always help people kill monsters if I'm in the area.

I've found that your primary attribute points for your build make a huge difference. If you have a stamina build, every attribute point on leveling should go into stamina and you should get +max stamina equipment. Same with magicka. All my DPS for pets and skills alike scales off of how much magicka I have. Once I figured that out and got the right equipment, I started doing some serious damage. Of course, my build is an aoe build and I use 2 pets so it handles groups of mobs very well.

There's always a lot of folks in public delves and dungeons so you can also always just tag along with anyone in there. The boss loot is pretty nice.

I'm pretty sure I work on Stamina.

My 2H sword attacks are all Stamina, and my Werewolf is Stamina-based. I'd dropped every point I have into Stamina, I wear +Stamina gear in every slot, and I make +Stamina/+Health (both at once) meals for myself as buffs. Only my Nightblade abilities are Magicka-based, and those are used mostly to heal myself and go invisible. At level 30, fully buffed, my Stamina is something like 30,000 or more.

Knowing more about the game, I'm tempted to get back to my Pet Sorcerer, but not tempted enough to stop playing the Nightblade.

Coldsteel I'll run Banished Cells with you this evening if you want and honestly, I wouldn't worry about a build not being viable when the new patch / xpac hits. I don't have anything to base that on other than years of experience seeing end game players wailing / gnashing teeth about nerfs when they really only affect about 5% of the player population that play at a level most of us will never see.

If that's you by the way there certainly is no problem with that mentality! I just don't want you to stop playing because of it.

Paingod - there's an armor set called "Salvation" - it drops in Malabal Tor. It looks useful for a werewolf -
2 pieces - extra stamina
3 pieces - stamina recovery
4 pieces - more extra stamina
5 pieces - reduces the cost of werewolf transformation and while in werewolf form increases your weapon damage

Public dungeons are tough but usually there are lots of other people (often too many) zooming around killing so you should be able to tag along with some of them. Beware - mob groups are usually larger, there are more bosses and the bosses (I think) are tougher.

Is Banished Cells the initial Undaunted quest? If so, I'd love to jump in with you - I don't think either of my solos have done it yet and it could be that both have it.

And I'd like to do Tempest Island again - I'd like more of the set drops from there. But if we don't do it, that's okay. And if it's helpful, I could run my sorcerer there - he has some healing and he summons daedra.

I'll have to look into that. I've been trying to keep myself wearing Werewolf Hide so I can get the +5 Ultimate every 5 seconds in combat - and it's also heavy on Stamina; being Medium armor, it also works for my stealthiness and thieving tendencies. I think I might have one or two pieces of Salvation on me already.

Anyone getting Morrowind early access?
Is Banished Cells the initial Undaunted quest? If so, I'd love to jump in with you - I don't think either of my solos have done it yet and it could be that both have it.

I don't know on the Undaunted question but I'm sure we can figure it out.

Will need heals. I'm even open to dusting off my DK if we need a dedicated tank..no idea what her build looks like theses days though..I'm sure I would need to reset.

Sure, that sounds great. We'll need to figure a good time. I'm east coast so if you're not, we'll need to figure something out. How early would you be able to go?

Unfortunately, I've been totally ignoring my restoration staff and healing skills so I'm afraid I'm just DPS. I have some self heals but that doesn't help others.

The more the merrier.

I'm Central.

I'm usually on by 9-10 my time--unlikely but not unheard of for me to be on earlier.

If you need a fourth I'll try to be around too.

The initial Undaunted quest dungeons are Fungal Grotto, Spindleclutch and Banished Cells depending on your faction, but I don't think it truly matters which you do since One Tamriel. Not 100% certain on that though.

Mount inventory increases your actual inventory all the time.

I've been fastidiously avoiding that because I thought it was absurd.

I think you press Q and use your mouse to cycle around to a different item. I've never managed to get it to work though, so don't depend on that being right. I have enough trouble getting the quickslot ring to keep my healing item immediately available.

I wish they had used numbers - like the skill slots. Maybe 6 through 0. It would still be kind of awkward in the middle of a fight to find the correct number, but it would be a lot easier for me than their quickslot ring method.
