Any word on a patch for Evil Genius?

If it's a video game it goes here.

Can't hit most of the gaming sites from work - luckily this site slips under the radar....

Anything particular that's sticking in your craw you'd like to see patched in the game?

Documentation is horrible. I love the little movies and stuff that they do but there are so many pieces to the game that I have no idea what to do with.

Also I would love to see a sandbox mode where you can build your base with everything available. Set a ton of individual difficulty settings (how easy it is to make money, how much agent activity, etc).

Actually, I haven't run into any of the known bugs, at least not that I've noticed. That being said, I'm not sure how far into the game I am - I've just gotten the option to go to a new (2nd) island.

I will note that the documentation is el sucko - I have no idea what the henchmen add to the game. Some of the descriptions imply that certain ones will add to your science or research ability, but I've not seen any indications that this is actually the case.

Henchmen add a lot. They are the only minions that you can directly control on the island map. They each have two special abilities that may prove useful, though I manager to finish the game having only used Jubei's teleport skill.

They are also rather useful on the world map. Send one into the world then double-click on him/her (just as on any other stack of minions) and it'll show you what the henchman is good for: some help reduce losses, others reduce Heat, others reduce AOI duration, others help with Plotting, etc.

So IMHO you should have a few strong Henchmen for base defense, as well as 'wussy' ones like the Matron or Mesmero to help with AOIs.

You can also use your henchmen to attack enemies without having to tag them, which helps a lot against Super-Agents. Possible spoiler or maybe even exploit following, highlight at your own risk. Have one of your social minions start to weaken the Super-Agent, then, without re-tagging him with a kill or capture tag (which gives him a window to become violent), move a henchman nearby and send him to attack. If the attack starts when the SA is still busy being psychologically weakened, your dude will continue to hit the SA and the latter will not respond - smells like a bug. Then when he falls down tag him for capture, then interrogate him, then re-tag him for weakening and a social minion will escort him to the helipad.

To answer your original question, there does not appear to be word on a patch. "When it's done."

There is an unoffical patch by the fans at planetevil.com.

Fixes things like the "research sentry guns" issue, the research oliver (the monkey) issue, as well as a slew of other things. Read teh readme as its use at your own risk (may interfere with official patch assuming there ever is one)

its on the home page here (scroll to the bottom) http://www.evilplanet.com
