Component video from a PS2? (original version)

Post by Papageno »

I read someplace that one can go beyond the RCA video and that it improves the graphics. I only see two outputs on the back of the PS2, though-- a tiny Digital Video output and the AV Multi-out. What kind of cable do I need to get S-Video or Component Video?

My analog Sony WEGA 20 inch has both, but it's not HDTV or anything.

You just need an alternate PS2 cable that has S-video or component video instead of the RCA composite video. Like this.

You'll notice a big difference between composite (RCA) and S-video, not so much between S-video and component.

Yeah, unless you have a TV that can do 480p it isn't that big a deal.
