WoW hardware requirements?

Post by portnoy »

:?:

I have been looking of the WoW website and also looking on various sites that are selling pre-orders to the game, I am not able to locate minumum system requirements, or for that matter any system requirements. I see that their appear to be some issues with ATI cards, but beyond that I am lost.

Anyone out there with at least some rough idea of the hardware requirements?

It runs on my rig which has:

P4 3.0ghz (HT)
1 gig of OCZ Ram
ATI 9800

I know thats a bit of a high end system, but it doesn't even balk at that. I figure it will do well on lower end rigs, and I haven't had any problems with my 9800 in the game.

I'm running it at 1280x1024 butter-smooth with a Athlon XP 2500+, 1gb ram, and a 9500 Nonpro.

wow (couldn't resist) that was fast!

Thanks for the info, I am looking forward to the game but didn't want to be standing in the store glowering at the box when I couldn't run it. Would prefer to find that sort of information out in advance, in order to not let expectations run too high!

The stress test ran fairly well for me at 1280x1024, AMD 2100 with a GF4 4800. Slow loading every so often. You definately want a minimum of 512mb ram and I'd say 1GB would be best.

i'm running it on an AMD 2.4, PC 133 (slow) 512 MB Ram and a Geforce 4 ti 4400 (old). Runs great - i've just accepted the graphics setting it has given me and totally happy with it.

Make sure to go with 1 GB of RAM. It ran fine on my machine (P4 2.6C, 1GB RAM, 9600 Pro). I run at 1024x768 with everything at high.

1GB is unnecessary IMHO for this game.

I may change my mind as I increase and get involved in PVP but at the moment 512MB slow mem is fine and working well.

XP2100, 512 PC2700, GF4ti4200 here. I'm running it at 1024x768, all settings maxed with no AA and no AF and I get framerates averaging around 28-33 for the most part. I'm surprised how good it runs and looks.

You and I have the exact same rig. It runs great on my machine too.

I'm on a P4 2.53ghz machine with 1GB of PC2700 ram using a Ti4600 video card, and have no complaints at all with settings maxed out (but no AA).

I've got everybody here beat.

WoW ran perfectly for me on:

1.4ghz AMD
512 MB RAM
GeForce 3

I did upgrade the ram from 256 back in December/January as WoW was behaving badly. They've since optimized it, so I'd wager you could even survive at 256, though I haven't tried it.

I ran the game at 1024X768 (the only rez my LCD supports) and the ONLY places I ever suffered lag/slowdowns were in crowded cities - and EVERYBODY complained about those, so I think it was server-side or bandwidth related.

In other words, WoW will run fine on just about anything.
