I live in Maryland and met Hitesh a while back. I had the misfortune of having to shop Pandora's Cube. While in there, he was pushing his modded Xbox filled with pirated games. I made an off handed comment like "an xbox full of games you don't have to pay for? Someone is likely to go to jail over that." Which he got at vulgar claiming that I had no fucking clue what I was talking about.

So Mr. Hitesh Patel, this is for you:

Heh, good thing I had my Playstation modded all those years ago at Pandora's Cube before the long arm of the law caught up with Mr. Hetish Patel.

The problem wasn't that he was modding systems. He was selling modded systems loaded with games. Thats what got him in trouble.

Dear Mr. $iljanus,

After a lengthy and through investigation into the files and customer transactions of Pandora's Box we have discovered that you had a Playstation modded by the company. We regret to inform you that we have no choice but to confiscate your unit, and place you under arrest for violations of the Digital Copyright act.

Please have your Playstation ready when we arrive at your residence tomorrow. Good Day sir.

It's not illegal to mod the systems right?

Only illegal to pre-load games onto the HDD unless the owner already owns the games.

Modding isnt illegal but some specific mods are probably illegal if they contain copyrighted code. There are mods out there that do not have copyrighted codes (I would guess old ones would have copyrighted code while new ones dont)

If you own the game I dont see how it would be illegal to play it off the xbox hard drive instead of the original disk.

What would be illegal is copying games that you do not own to the hard drive.

I couldnt be wrong though its just my general idea of how it all goes.

But if Osama had an XBox with modded games, he'd be toast.
