HL2-Who's staying up tonite?

Post by Greg Wak »

Not me-exactly. I do get up 2 or 3 times a nite and if one of these happens to be after 2:00am I may try to unlock it. To me one of greatest gamming joys is that first time you fire it up and I am not about to do that half asleep. I still wonder if the servers will crash at zero hr anyway.

I am! I'm on the west coast though, so it's not really staying up all that late for me.

I really really really want to, but I think I've finally resigned myself to the fact that my first taste of Half Life 2 will have to be tomorrow, 9:30pm, after work and a night class.

I'll be firing up Steam at 00:00 and hoping I get there before the other 2 million preloads. Their forums are down right now from the load, I hope they can handle activation storm.
kind of like a cloud I was up way up in the sky and I was feeling some feelings that I couldn't believe; sometimes I don't believe them myself but I decided I was never coming down

I'm still trying to decide if I should stay up or not.

Reasons I Really Shouldn't
  • Image It's only a game.
Image I have to be up and start being a Dad at 8:15. Tomorrow morning I take Amelia to the much-dreaded Music Class.
Image We're paying for childcare tomorrow afternoon ostensibly so I can get some work done between 2-6pm. If I'm exhausted from playing games all night, me no write so good.
Reasons I Really Should
  • Image It's Half-life 2. That's really all I need to make a decision, but regardless, I'll continue.
Image I want to experience Half-life 2 for the first time late at night with the lights off and the family in bed. That's not gonna happen for another 24 hours. AN ETERNITY.
Image I have a large glass of freshly-brewed, sweetened, and chilled coconut and vanilla flavored Boca Java iced coffee for energy.
Image I have a new tube of Tollhouse Cookie Dough in the fridge for sustenance.
Any gamer worth his salt knows exactly what has to be done.
And I am nothing if not salt.
MORTON SALT.

Stupidly, I'm going to try to. I have school bright and early tomorrow, along with a fairly major test. But if I don't stay up to play, I won't get to play until wednesday. And that's unacceptable.

I'm going to get up before work tomorrow and load up the intro. I figure 20 minutes should do it. I just can't stay up until 3am and then go to work on 3 hours of sleep.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

official time is 3am here in indiana...don't think i'll be pulling an all-nighter considering i have an interview tomorrow. although i know i won't be logging any serious playing time tonight, i am curious to see how the Steam unlock goes, so i may take a little nap and wake up in time for the activation. i'm really interested to see how smoothly the whole process goes for everyone.

If I had been able to snag my retail copy early then I would stay up and do an all nighter. Instead I'll be picking it up tomorrow morning when the stores open.

I have no classes or work tomorrow...

This is only a slight benefit to being between jobs.

I reserved at an EB that's not that busy, so they might not have a midnight sale. I'll still drive up there around the time and check anyway. :P

I just tried that bonus Codename Gordon side scroller and it's great!

Very reminiscent of Abuse, what with the mouse aiming and all.

i played through Codename: Gordon sunday night and immediately thought of Abuse as well. playing a 2D gordon was fun while it lasted, but his guns weren't as cool as the guy in Abuse. that was a great little game...maybe i'll have to track it down and play it again sometime...

Update: when I got to the cereal cupboard, I decided Honey Smacks sounded more appetizing. So I had a bowl of those. Instead of Life.

<checks clock>

Say, did you ever notice after you eat Honey Smacks your pee smells just like 'em?

www.SteamPowered.com appears to be down. Hopefully it's planned and not a sign of the servers crapping out already.
