Am I supposed to be invincible at the start of HL2?

If it's a video game it goes here.

Am I supposed to be invincible at the start of HL2?

I can't seem to get killed. Is it supposed to be that way?

Well, before you get the hazard suit you don't really have any hitpoints, so yeah I guess you are invincible. At any rate I was bopped quite a few times by Combine guards and didn't seem to have any issues...

MINOR SPOILERS

It is possible to die before getting the HEV suit, though it takes some doing. In the rooftop chase sequence I just stood there getting shot at and eventually died.

I imagine you can take an infinite number of billy-clubbings, though.

In HL1 you can jump off the edge of the tram-station-railing thingy at the very beginning, and the fall will kill you.

Not sure if there are any other ways to die prior to getting the HEV suit -- it's all just rooms with scientists and barneys.

If Gordon is nigh invulnerable before he puts on the HEV, why does he ever put it on!?

Yeah I was thinking that -- he should keep it off! :)

My theory is that Gordon doesn't believe he can die until he sees that counter on his HEV Hud read 0. Otherwise, he just keeps trucking.

Thanks! I thought maybe something was wrong. But guess not.

I fell off the roof a couple of times not paying attention, and bit the dust. So, you're not totally invincible.

The first time a BASTARD tazed me, I launched at least 15 crates at him. Of course, he kept tazing me but I did not care, I hurt him bad enough :) I could not wait until I could kill him. I will kill them all

Do you think that's air you're breathing now?
When the sun goes out, we'll have eight minutes to live.
