Joint Operations: Escalation: are the servers up at all?

Just picked up the expansion for JO sunday during my annual, post thanksgiving orgy of consumerism and went home to play a bit. tried the tutorials, loved the motorbikes and the parachutes, and was all ready to play when I found that when connecting the screen just stops at CONNECTING TO NOVAWORLD. from the forums it appears there have been some intermittent problems with servers the last few weeks and I was curious if anyone knows the current status of the servers? is it just me? i'm pretty sure I have the correct ports open and i have no problems with other online games.
