City of Heroes - I'm lost now.
Wow, it's been like 4 months since I've been on and a lot has changed. There's badges and a bunch of other things I'm unfamilalir with. I think there's some new quest type too? Can someone fill me in?

Wow. That's a tall order.
I've been playing about 4 months now.
The badges are simply awards you obtain for ocmpleting quests, beating enough bad guys or seeing "secret" areas.
There are a few new areas (the Sewers, the Hollows) that contain all kinds of quests and/or random fighting.
There's been some power balances - tweaking of super powers. Capes for characters over level 20.
The chat window has been improved.
There's a cool sidekick system now that allows a level 10+ hero to sidekick a team member. Its main purpose is to give your sidekick a little boost with fighting - they get a bonus to their combat level when they're close to you.
They've had some events that you missed out on. Alien invasion and Halloween weekend.
I think there are other changes, I just can't remember them all. I suspect that after an hour or two of playing, you'll be back in spandex tight goodness.

The sidekick system was already in. What is new is the "reverse SK" or exemplar system which, with some limitations, let's you lower your level to help others do their missions, do task forces, etc.
Issue 3 is about to add Striga Isle for those evel 20-30, which is thought to be perhaps the best zone in the game yet by some who have seen it.
Issue 3 is also adding a new group of power pools for characters above level 40 and the first of the Epic Archetyes, Kheldians. The two varieties require that you have a character at level 50 to unlock them. Other Epics will come later with dfferent requirements.
One of the major things that Smoove_B didn't mention was that the respec (Terra Volta) trial finally went in with Issue 2 and it is a lot of fun. Perhaps this is what you meant by "new quest type". There's also a couple of trials in the late 30s-early40s range (Sewer Trial and Eden Trial) and one early one (12+) in the Hollows.
They're also going back and sprucing up the artwork on some of the old missions, which really helps set the mood.
If you're on Virtue, send me a tell in the eveniings (Inspectre).

Yeah...I'm not real hip the the CoH game yet - even after 3 or 4 months of playing. I came aboard RIGHT before Issue #2 was released, so I'm not real clear on what was original and what was upgraded.
The Tera-Volta thing seems cool...but with a level 13 character, it's a pointless endeavor.
I did forget about the artwork changes though - they really make a difference in the atmosphere of those early missions. As well as adding combat challenge - some of the ice bosses' lairs have patches of ice all over the floor, making you (and enemies) slip and slide all over the damn place.

Some changes to quests have been:I think there's some new quest type too?
- Outdoor instanced missions added.
- Prison in some missions (you die, you can't teleport to hospital. You teleport to mission prison).
- Missions that require 2 or more teammates (have to hit two switches across the map at the same time, etc).
- Missions added for tailor (get costume changes), cape (get cape), etc.

Some of which they've since changed, I think? I noticed a few missions that require "simultaneous" defusing that in fact don't. On the other hand, they didn't change all of them (like the solo-only players wanted), because I just did one a couple nights ago that required three of us in different spots of the map to do the defusing thang at the same time.LawBeefaroni wrote: Missions that require 2 or more teammates (have to hit two switches across the map at the same time, etc).
Smoove_B, I'd say yer plenty hip. You got almost all the big changes.
The respect mission is just plain fun. I love it. No other task force or mission has, for me, had the same sense of accomplishment when you successfully complete it. After saving that dang reactor, I really feel like it's time to go hit the bar and slam down a few cold ones to celebrate. But, Misguided, be prepared for a few failures. The respec trial can go very smoothly and easily, or it can be an utter disaster. There's all sorts of theories on the 'correct' team for the respect, but my experience has been that the biggest factor is how well the team works together.

Phouka,
I've done it twice and been successful both times. The first time was with my rad defender and the sky raider version. I wasn't a factor at all, but the team was great, overcoming a boo-boo in the large room of the final mission that should have caused a party wipe but didn't.
The second time was my Illusion controller doing the freakshow version. This one went great until the final wave, which was sheer chaos. At one point, three of the 5 went down and I got agg'd by 3 tanks and almost got taken out myself. Without having FF bubbles there we would have been hosed.
