did Will Wright have anything to do with Sims 2?

did Will Wright have anything to do with Sims 2?

i only saw in the credits that there was a 'very special thanks to Will Wright, creator of the Sims' or some such message - did he have any involvement with the game at all, or was it farmed out to some development team?

EA owns maxis, but Will Wright is still there. Amazingly, there are no credits in the manual.
