POOP v.2 is available for your gaming goodness.

For now only available as a torrent, but we're looking at some direct download solutions.

Tracker dead for a sec. Bugsquish imminent. Kill your torrent for just a minute.

So awesome! Happy release day, triggercut! Hopefully you can finally dig in and play.

As I mentioned in the OP, I also wanted to share this project which I had a lot of fun putting together...

The Oblivion Background Music Project - Two hours of new background music for exploring the game's wilderness, towns, and dungeons.

Huge thanks to EvilIdler over at Quarter to Three for offering to host it and building the website with me.

Enjoy!

Kivan decided to do the final(?) ever version of the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (3.2.0) today. Will make installation easier for folks if they don't have to hotfix it. So there it is. Rebuilding the archive now.

Maybe this is mentioned someplace and I am just missing it, but how many of the mods in POOP need the OBSE? I am asking because it does not work with the direct 2 drive version of Shivering Isles.

Hmm. Off the top of my head:

Streamline, Oblivion XP, nGCD, COBL...seems like there are a few more.

Why do I have to ctrl-home each time I run Oblivion to make Streamline work? Isn't there a way to get it to initialize automatically every time?

I thought nGCD (or whatever it's called) had an option to remove the stats level-up screen after sleeping. I still get that, and of course it does nothing. Similarly, I notice that my level stays at "1" all the time. Does it not tell you which level you're at for climbing up the internal levelled lists?

I can't remember, is there a way to sell an item without the game asking for confirmation?

Because that's how the code is written, either in Oblivion or in streamline.

You don't need to. You just need to initialize your changes once after every edit you make to your ini file. (Correct, trig?)

I'm not familiar with nGCD, but you're right... it sounds like it's not configured correctly if the level-up screen is still appearing. Perhaps a problem with your load list? Did you run FCOM helper to sort your load order?

I don't think so. In Morrowind, you could CTRL-click or SHIFT-click but Oblivion was obviously made for console fanboys.

Yeah, I thought he meant any time he made a change to sl.ini.

Streamline *should* start anytime you start Oblivion up. CTRL-HOME you just need to do if you've changed settings.

BTW, just got done with a 3-hour session of Oblivion, with the sound of Rob's BM filling my ears. Awesome stuff, Morton!

I think it's time to dust off Oblivion again.

So, I'm at the part where I need to choose a leveling system. I used Kobu's "The Great Wheel" last time I was in Oblivion, and enjoyed it, but yeah it was pretty inscrutable as to why some of my stats never wanted to increase. I was thinking of using "The Nexus" option for my next character, which is like "The Great Wheel" only it levels slower. But I didn't realize there were all these other options added in POOP2.

Reading the docs, it seems like you're leaning towards nGCD as the way to go, but how fast/slow does it level? If want to build strength in my character so I'm not so easily encumbered (I'm a pack rat, so this is a priority for any game that has weight on items as a factor) how easy/hard would that be to do? Is it possible to 'break' a character because you've been using the wrong skills for a while and didn't realize you were leveling up in those more than others? Or is it as foolproof as it sounds?

The XP Leveling one sounds the most like what I'm used to in other leveling systems, having played Baldur's Gate, IWD, NWN, etc. But I worry it's too much of a change from the original intent of Oblivion.

I'm torn between all 4, but may be leaning towards nGCD or Realistic Leveling as they seem the least intrusive.

We're in the same boat so by all means, experiment with something new and report back.

I'm gonna go tackle the Streamsight settings and sl.ini file per trig's helpful write-up. Glad yer diggin the music, Chief! I'm also glad you got to sit down for a 3-hour session! Talk about well-earned.

took me only about 2 or 3 hours of puttering around to do the complete install. So far no crashes. the only issue i'm having is that some buildings way off in the distance will appear to be black "placeholders" at certain angles, but then will fill in when I turn to face them completely. not a big issue and something i'm sure is due to my own ignorance during the install  .

overall, an amazing project and a welcome addition to my oblivion experience! now i can finish Shivering Isles and the Dark Brotherhood quests with new fervor.

Thanks again, folks!

edit: apparently my character Raz has the strength of a 4 year old girl, if the rate at which he gets fatigued even walking 12 feet is any indication. my guess is that with an encumberance of 120 out of a potential 220 is a problem?

Everything's installed (I picked Tamriel over AEVWD and nGCD for leveling). Great job on this! It's running nicely so far and it feels like a huge upgrade even over POOP1. Love the new menus, inventory screens, etc. too.

With POOP1 I never used the darker caves, but I really like how it works with the torches mod. A few questions on this: What's the hotkey to take out the torch? (I've set it to one of the number keys in the meantime) Can you set it to put your weapon away when you bring your torch out when armed rather than automatically dropping the torch on the ground? Finally, do the torches last indefinitely, or do they go out after a set time?

I'm trying the immersion mods, even though they don't seem to be my thing at first glance. Of course, I've got plenty of questions about those, too. I fought the two bandits outside the ruins across from the prison sewers, and while it was an easy battle, it felt epic since I was collapsing and out of breath by the time I was fighting the archer. Afterwards it said I needed 1 hour of sleep on my character screen- does that mean I need to sleep right away, or can I wait until I need 8 or so hours? Also, how do I know if I need food/water? Is the need for water even included in these mods? The story from Rob in the poop docs reads like it is, but it's not clear. Also, as I level up, will my need for these things grow less, or can I expect to fall down a lot by the end of every battle?

Finally, I had the hard luck of contracting Swap Fever with the first mudcrab my character encountered. I'm now constantly fatigued and I tried resting for a bit, and woke up falling down from hunger. Eating something stopped me from constantly falling down, but it seems like I'm going to die before I ever be able to reach someplace to cure my disease. Yikes!

Sounds as if you have the same problem I did: you're eating like a starving viking.

Instead of just clicking ingredients in the list, go to the last tab on that inventory screen, the one that brings up miscellaneous stuff like the mortar & pestle and things. You should see a "+dinner plate". Click that. Wait a few seconds. Now it should bring up a list of edible ingredients for your eating pleasure. Pick some. Wait a few seconds. You should get a feedback message ("I'm stuffed!" or "That should hold me over" or "That wouldn't feed a rabbit"). Your stats should recover a bit, if they're depressed from hunger.

On Monday I'm putting up a list (and some omod scripts) for some alternate mods that we couldn't get into POOP. One of these mods is Experienced-based training for nGCD. Give it a look if you're playing with nGCD. I just started a toon yesterday with both of those.

Also, in poop1 there was a mod that added some combat moves, like you could bash enemies with your shield. Was that unable make it into Poop2? I kind of enjoyed knocking my foes back and trying to get a few wacks in while they were staggered.

That's Deadly Reflex. We were refused permission, since the author is planning a major overhaul. We'll link it with OMOD scripts, along with Reneer's Guard Overhaul. I'll also have some links to things like Supreme Magick and Thieves' Arsenal as well.
