SWTOR appears to have gotten the idea that players are all really, really, super obsessed with HK-55.

I mean. He's cool and all. But really. This is getting out of hand.

Kinda pisses me off that me and my friends worked hard on the HK quest years ago and now they just give them to people.

If XCOM2 ever gets its hooks out of me, I might finally revisit this again. :)

I revisited maybe around 2013 and had some fun, and even finally found a large, friendly guild that played together regularly. Just somehow the game never kept me hooked in the long run as I thought it would at launch in 2011 -- I mean, I spent $100+ on a CE edition and still have this big Darth statue gawking at me. :D

Part of my issue was feeling like the SWTOR game and engine was stuck in the past. I felt like if it updated to steal some good ideas from games as diverse (and sometimes dead :P ) as Guild Wars 2 [which I had to give up a while back due to inexplicable motion sickness issues in certain higher level zones], City of Heroes, Tabula Rasa, Planetside, Age of Conan. To me, Star Wars (regardless of which era) is chaos and out of control, not so much "move from one mob of 3, to the next mob of 3, lather, rinse, repeat."

And after battling alongside fully animated Walkers and other iconic vehicles (albeit in an action game) in SW Battlefront, I just don't know if I can return to SWTOR and its fields of dead AT-AT walkers and vehicles -- presumably because the game can't really animate any vehicle larger than a speeder on the ground content.

I also consistently hit a wall around L50-55, just couldn't get my characters far enough for the expansion content. I'd read about getting a pre-made L60 character, and that might help me overcome that roadblock.

But I had fun in the day, and maybe I can again. :)

You need to sufferplay through Rise of the Hutt Cartel first. Revan starts at around level 55.
All expansions can be started via the mission console on your ship. :)

But anyway, here's my new Jedi knight and Kalimera's little sister, Nyseira.

She's definitely my most "girly" character so far. But it's kind of fun to try something different. She's semi-LS, but also a bit immature and impulsive. And very eager to break out of her sister's shadow and prove herself as a Jedi.

I've mostly been hearing 'meh' to 'bad' feedback regarding the last couple chapters of KotFE, which has significantly tempered my enthusiasm to resub. I'm sure I'll probably do so somewhere down the road, but there's certainly no pull right now.

I also got re-addicted to Final Fantasy XIV, and can really only manage one MMO at a time.

The Kaliyo chapter was pretty meh. Jorgan's chapter was better. The newest one (early access starts today!!) looks a lot more interesting, fingers crossed. I think overall, though, the chapters simply suffer from being so short. There's so much excitement all month long, and then it drops and you're through playing it in only an hour or two. It's hard to fit much interesting, well-developed content in such a small space of time. So, much of it ends up feeling like highly anticipated filler.

That's my personal view of it, anyway. There's also been a severe lack of companion-to-PC interaction, which most people I've spoken with (and myself too) have been deeply disappointed with.

KOFE started really well but ended up falling flat for me. I just didn't end up liking it as much as the class stories and they really should have released it in its entirety IMO.

I may finish it one month once it's done. After playing through all class stories, the expansions, and then the initially released chapters of KOFE I was ready for a break.

I tried to get back into this game recently (was a subscriber back when it was subscription-only) but their free-to-play model is just atrocious (imo). They should look at other MMOs that went free-to-play and take some notes.

I disagree here, the F2P model is fine. You can get through all the main game story content without paying a dime. You do probably have to pay for the expansions, but that's only fair. The only real paywalled stuff is end-game raids which I don't give a rat's ass about, and the rail-shooter ship flying sections which are best done in small doses anyway due to being kind of boring (last time I played through one of those my ship actually blew up because I fell asleep). The rest of the microtransactions are cosmetic or otherwise optional.

And most of the annoying things can be made manageable by unlocking things via the Legacy upgrades. If anything, I sometimes feel the game is giving too much away.

And I'm saying this as a FTPer (well, preferred status really) who's played all classes and spent a large amount of time in-game to know the limitations.
