Both of you guys have houses now too.

I refreshed Dynmap and set it to do a fullrender of /world. that should solve the problem with it's chunky display. if it continues to not updated your building let me know.

I installed Courier, seems to be the most up to date.

I went as far as giving everyone all the permissions but no one is on to test anything else, feel free to play with it.

Whose is the mill far to the northwest? I was thinking of tackling some jungle a few hundred metres away. Was wondering if I'd be a welcome neighbour.

Stuie, I didn't see your jungle construction. I presume it's in one of the more southerly or central jungle zones?

-989 +1088 According to the server map. Now that I look at it, there's not much of a jungle there. Regardless, I haven't had a lot of time to play, so don't restrict yourself because of me.

Very cool. I can barely see it beneath the leaves on the map. I think there's a fair bit of jungle there.

I was eyeing the bit in the -1100, -100 area. But I'm concerned it might be too out of the way.

The mill is Covenant's I believe. I'm pretty sure he moved away from that area and started building elsewhere.

Hello! I've been messing around in single player but it is getting boring. I was hoping I could join your server and build myself a little homestead and mess around with building a castle? I promise to not make your eyes bleed 8-) .

Welcome Ninyu!

I've been taking a bit of a break, but will be back eventually. Mrs. Nym said if I played Dragon Age (her favourite game right now), she'd finally cave to my constant pestering and try Minecraft. But we'll see. 8-)

Hey, McG...

Did we lose the boat mod with the latest version? Isaac and I have been sailing around the starting continent (much bigger than I anticipated) and are having a hell of a time between the lily pads and the squid. Even the off shore sea chickens have gotten us a few times.

Just askin is all.

I just got an email from our server host. They are having issues with the machine or group of machines our server is sitting on. As such it's been intermittently up and down the past hour. I don't know if there will be any time warp side effects. I'll post when I get an all clear from them.

OK, Ninyu you have a house now! Its near the park.

The server is still a little willy nilly but its been good for about a half hour. Use your personal thresholds to determine if that's enough of a roll back buffer. just in case.

I also reinstalled the boat mod.

I check in from time-to-time (as you can see from server logs); but nobody has been around lately. I took a walk last night to go look at the big statues. I hadn't seen the Blaze one up close. Its very nice.

The latest snapshot has their first attempt at unifying SMP and SP. For those who don't know, there's been a pretty big technical divide between single player and multi. They said in the late winter that they want to eliminate the SP mode so that coding and modding efforts could merge. The idea is that when you start a SP game you are hosting a local server that only you are connected to.

Should be interesting to see how that effects the mod community.

I have a confession to make: I've been playing Minecraft Hunger Games whenever I have the chance (and there's a server open). I feel so dirty.

I've been getting to the last 8 or so most games, and when teaming up with one of my sons we've managed to win a couple in a row. It's actually been fun, though I can see the strategy I'm employing getting old eventually.

First and foremost, Rei's Minimap is almost a must.* You have time before the "game" starts to scout the area, so I'll find the nearest swamp (for mushrooms) and then scout our ravines for coal/iron, using Rei's to waypoint any good locations. Also the "big map" (x key) helps narrow down where the swamps are. If I'm solo, I try to head toward one of the edges so I have time to get myself established. If I'm co-op, we try to establish a rendevous prior to the start so we're not blindly looking for each other in the mass of people at spawn. I always go with the Barbarian kit; starting with a sword is better than a fishing rod or a couple speed potions.

Priority items (in my mind)...

1. Mushrooms for stew - stew replenishes health, then the hunger bar. It's like food that doubles as a healing potion. Can't have too many.
2. Wood - obviously. Bowls (for the above), sticks, etc.
3. Iron - again probably obvious. Full iron armor is the first priority, then sword, then lighter, then either bucket or pickaxe. If you're not finding diamonds, the pickaxe might not be necessary if you don't have iron to spare.
4. Flint for the lighter. Set anyone that gets near you on fire. :)

Nice to haves:
Bow and arrows - I got lucky and found chickens in one game, then killed a skele that dropped a bow. It was archery the rest of the way. If they can't get near you, they can't use a lighter or any other tricks.
Lava - there's all sorts of mean stuff you can do with lava. We burned out the one guy that was hiding from us in the co-op game that I won.

I could go on but I should probably be doing some work. :p

Edit: *Rei's may or may not be allowed on the server you're using - check the rules.

I dropped the player max down to 10 from 30. There's a pretty big drop in memory to go along with it, but since no one is really logging in thats the price we pay, so to speak.

Minecraft is an "in between" game for me that I come back to when I'm feeling creative. I'd be sad to see this server go, but I understand if you're paying out of pocket. I don't think Minecraft is "dying", but a big release like D3 will definitely steal playtime.

I've been having issues trying to log on the multiplayer server the last few days. I either get disconnected by server because it takes too long or it says the server is unavailable after I choose it when it's green. Other times I log in with no issues at all. Just a hiccup on server side?

sheesh the entire MC community is dead. there's been some snapshots released but no excitement at all. Most interesting thing since February has been this week's release of tripwire's to activate stuff, which is actually really cool. but zzzz.

Zomg a posting!

So the 1.3 update is coming out on august first. My plan is to server wipe back to vanilla. Due to the changes in 1.3 the status of things like bucket are up in the air.

The worlds that exist now will be backed up. If any of you love your above ground structures and would like me to migrate then I'd be happy to do that.

The theme for the new world will be zombie apocalypse. I'm planning on ripping city sized buildings from other maps and starting the player spawn in the heart of the city. You can rebuild the city or run to the wilderness. There will be no zone building/digging limitations so you can rebuild the city in your image or harvest it for parts.

I'm trying to get back into this game so if anyone has thoughts please share!

Can't say how active I'll be, but I'll definitely check it out! Had a blast in the weeks or month I played with you guys. Definitely have always planned to return. Would be neat to be a part of day one. Really neat concept, too.

Is it impossible to distribute the server's current iteration as a single-player map, due to how the single and multiplayer games are different (at least till 1.03)? I'm not too attached to what I have, though it would be nice to be able to revisit it someday. But what some of you guys have done, specifically dibree, I'd be really sad to see disappear forever.

I might be back in for the Zombie Apocalypse. I've just read the Autumn series and I think that sounds cool.
It's 104 first team All-Americans.
It's a college football record 59 bowl appearances.
It's 33 bowl victories.
It's 22 Southeastern Conference Championships.
It's 14 National Championships.

At some places they play football. At Alabama we live it.

Yeah things can be distributed. I was thinking about adding some of the stuff on the current map to the new map as museums or sculptures or just themed areas.
