What's to wonder? It's a great tool, and it's zero risk.

Wow, I just found out you can build your own house. I must have spent 4 hours last night doing just that. I still have to find the trophy animals and personalize it more.

Assuming that you are referring to the Hearthfire, there are actually 3 houses you can build. Which is nice. It allows you to build more of the rooms. :D

Actually I'm playing the vanilla version of SE and the Jarl at Falkreath sold me some land and the house I'm building is called Lakeview Manor. It's out in the boonies west of Falkreath.

That is from the Hearthfire DLC. Not sure why you have access if you don't have the DLC. Hmmm... reading the description for the SE version, it sounds like it may include all the DLC.

I'm pretty sure the SE version has all the DLCs but they're not list as such.

I wish you could build more freely. There is something restrictive about having just 3 houses to chose from that ruins the building idea for me. So I always look around for house mods even though I feel that many of them are too fancy.

Well, that was the first step towards Fallout 4's settlements. Hopefully, they'll continue to explore this aspect more in their future games.

You guys notice the release of a 58 gig HD texture pack for FO4? Wonder if NASA can run that?

If you read the Fallout 4 thread, you would note that it is an HD texture pack.

BTW, on this playthrough I actually completed the "No Stone Unturned" quest where you find all 24 jewels to Barenziah's crown. You then have to find the crown itself, but after delivering all this stuff to Vex you get an ability called "Prowler's Profit" or something like that where anytime you open a container containing a gem, there will be more gems and of higher quality. If you like finding lots of gems, this is one hell of an ability. Just sayin...

I don't think I've ever done that quest. Normally I accidentally pick up one of the stone and start kicking myself. So far on this run I've managed to leave them alone.

I usually end up with half a dozen. I grab them as I see them with the idea that if I should choose to finish the quest, I'll be ready. I've never actually made an active attempt to do it, though.

I was using a list of locations but I ended up somehow missing one of the stones(of course  ). I then found this mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9385/?) which puts quest markers on each stone so you can be certain of finding them.

Sure enough, the last gem was in a location I had already cleared but had missed a few things, including one of the gems. You need to go to the Thief's Guild and talk to Vex after you have all 24 stones, at which point she will tell you where the crown is located. Once you bring that back to her you receive the "Prowler's Profit" perk.

I can tell you from experience that this perk is well worth the trouble if getting lots of nice gems is important to you. It is pretty common for me (at level 53) to find 4-5 jewels on one body or in one container!

Does anyone know of a randomizer? Looking at my list it seems to be missing. A mod that will randomize the npcs a bit. Like make some of them shorter or bigger or smaller busted. Something to make them all not so same same.

It's both sad and wonderful that Skyrim SE, a new computer that can actually run some of the mods that improve the look, and a new overhaul (basically Enai's full suite of mods - Ordinator, Wildcat, and Apocalypse) has sucked me back in so completely. My level 35 Nord illusionist still has much more that I'd like to do but I'm itching to start over (again).

That's the other thing. My old computer had that problem. Now with the new HD I have gone a little crazy with new quest mods. Which wouldn't be too bad except that by the time I've reached the level to start the new quest mods I have tons of other quests

I haven't had to delete a game to make room for another since 1994 when I had a 210 meg hard drive. But I really wanted and needed a SSD this go and could not afford a 1tb one so had to just get a 500gb one.

Has anyone seen a mod called CLARALUX? Its a lighting mod that looks really cool. Anyone tried it?

Its the same mod that made some of the coolest other mods...Electro City for New Vegas, Dynavision, Imaginator and others.

This is a good video on it

Another good video

Of the two, the first, although I personally don't like ENB series lighting. They tend to skew way too much toward vaseline-lens cinematic, and they bring a massive, massive performance hit along with them unless you have the hottest off-the-shelf PC. I can run Skyrim with 200+ mods, all of the texture packs at 2k or higher, and maintain 60fps. I put on an ENB and I get a solid 35.

Now, the ENB without the lighting features is an absolute must, as it actually improves both performance and stability. See here.

Simple mods and graphics mods are available. Some of the more complex mods, including the big UI mod are waiting for the Script Extender and it's looking like a long wait.

People are still doing cool things with the available tools however.

On the other hand, if this is your first play through, unmodded is a fun game. Maybe just the unofficial bug patch, or whatever it's being called these days.

Couple silly questions that I may have asked somewhere before.

1. Is it possible to mix and match body types? Like have Lydia use a sweaty body since she is a fighter and companion and use the curvy type for another one?

2. Is there a mod that randomizes NPCs? Everything from the clothing they wear to racial features like taller Orcs or shorter wood elves? Random everything..hair eyes clothes weight...where are the fat people in this game? Stuff like that without me having to do tons of work.

EDIT: Any reason this mod for normal Skyrim would not work with SE?

I planned to use Superb Serana SE if I cant get this one to work.

As the time leads up to when I actually reinstall and get back to Skyrim I thought every now and then Id pick a mod from my list and highlight it so you can get a feel for what Im planning on using and maybe consider these mods for your own use.

The first one is True Storms

This is a weather mod for Skyrim. Whats great is it started as a sound mod and it has amazing sound in it. Im not yet sure if Ill use it alone or with the other weather mod I have listed. but this one is pretty kool all on it's own.

Video one
HODI video on it

Also it has been ported over to Fallout 4 with even more features like radiation storms. The Skyrim one comes with fog and dust storms already.

My 3 month sky break is done so I'm setting up the SE edition. But so many quests aren't available which makes me mad. Legacy of the dragonborn isn't and a lot of collection quests aren't along with many others. I guess i could wait but got the urge and see there are some I've never tried.

A lot of the best mods were created, finished, and the authors had moved on long before the SE was announced. Those are unlikely to ever be ported to the SE. A lot of modders have also moved on to other games over the intervening years, so there aren't going to be as many new mods, either.

The SE will absolutely get quite a few good mods, but it will never be as complete as the vanilla version.

I think the SE has less chaff to it. Less "Hey I textured the birds" or "I added a scarecrow to that one field" and more good mods.

It has less of everything, so yes - fewer silly ones (retextured birds, sexbot companions, etc), but fewer good ones, too. Legacy of the Dragonborn, for instance, is good enough that I've based my entire playthrough around it.
