Downloading 32 gigs... This is going to take a while even with a good connection. Guess I'll go watch the Mets lose again.

All done. That wasn't bad at all. Enough time to check it out for 5 minutes before I hit the sack.

I've read some good things about the updates.

Considering giving it a go.

I keep it fully patched and updated but haven't been in game for awhile. I picked up The Witcher 3 and have also been playing CoH 2 a fair bit.

I could log in at any time though and I'm sure I'll get back to it.

Ok, I'm at about 30 hours played and I have some questions.

#1. I'm level 14 and just running quest after quest. I have crafted some, but most of my time is questing. I'm finding leveling very slow. Is this about right or am I doing something wrong?

#2. I know I can't go to the other Dominion areas, but how about the other cities in my alliance? I go to a wayshrine and see about 20 different cities listed, but so far I can only go to 2. Is there a way to get to the other cities? I'm in the Aldmeri Dominion.

Been playing a little bit of this again lately, trying out the Templar. I think I'm still a member of the OO guild but haven't seen anyone in game when I was playing.

Pretty sure I'm @BrianEnd will check later tonight.

1) Yep, leveling is not fast in this game, but questing is by far the fastest way. I think it is safe to do away with the idea of 'grinding mobs' for leveling--very little xp.

2) Keep working quests. The natural progression will take you to the other zones that have the different cities.

-When you hit 15 you'll get weapon switching, which is sweet.

-If you have any skill you want to increase at a quicker pace make sure they are on your active bar when turning in quests. The skills you have active will level faster from turning in quests than the ones not on your bar. You can even switch to your secondary bar just to turn in quests if you want to level those skills (say your bow and related skills if that is what you switch to).

I got a PS4 for Christmas so I've been playing Battlefront almost non stop. I'll hop on tonight some and maybe tomorrow and will be happy to answer any other questions.

I can craft armor / weapons as well.

Yep, hit level 15 and opened up a new map with dozens of quests. I should be good until level 20 and something else opens up.

How do I open up the secondary bar? I thought all you get is the primary bar with 5 skills?

Also, I'm doing Provisioning and really liking it. However, I just can't find many recipes. I'm opening every chest, basket, night stand, etc. Is there a secret I'm missing with finding recipes? I'm level 15 at that as well. But I think I only have around 6 or 7 recipes so far. I'm making the same low level ale over and over.

You should be able to access it from your skills page. At the bottom is a sideways 'U' shaped button which switches to your 2nd bar.

So I'm playing this again. I subbed to ESO plus for the first time to get access to all of the DLC release so far.

For some reason I've decided to set up a Twitch channel to stream while I play. I'm not an expert and this is a low level character just running quests, but I thought I'd put up a stream in case anyone wanted to see what the game play was like.

Feel free to say hi if you stop by. I may or may not be able to answer questions and my presentation may be a little rocky since this is my first try.

I started messing with a bit tonight as well after being underwhelmed by my little WoW experiment. Rolled a Redguard Dragonknight...will see how that goes.

You probably know this already, but apparently ESOUI is the way to go now, rather than Curse for add-ons.

So, I've kept an eye on this game since they changed to a "buy to play" model and figured I might pick it up on sale. Well, it's now on sale for less than $10 for the regular version until the 23rd so I'm tempted. However, some of the things I'm seeing on the Steam forum are raising some questions.

Is it really a 70GB download? That seems like an awful lot but that's what people are saying.

Does it run okay with older video cards? I have a GTX 670.

There's also a gold version on sale for $29. It apparently includes some DLC but not all of it? Is it better to just get the base game?

What's the OO consensus on the current state of the game? Worth getting?

I haven't played in probably 6 months but I don't think the game play has changed much other than the One Tamriel thing. I leveled all 4 classes to 50 playing off and on since it was released so I'd say it's worth $10. I found you really need to get to at least level 15 when the second weapon slot opens, which basically doubles the amount of abilities you can use, for the combat to really get interesting. My ESO folder is 51 GB and it's up to date. The Gold Version seems to include the four major dlc's so it's a decent price if you can play enough during the F2P weekend to get a feel of the game. I could send some crafting mats, gold, and give a Vampire or Werewolf bite for anyone who plans to hang on past the weekend.

I play it on again / off again. Currently on again.

I think most of your question was answered but I'll add: Make sure you put the skills you want to raise on you action bar. They increase every time you gain experience and when you turn in quests.

Many players will put at least one skill of each of their class lines plus a couple of weapon skills on the bar so they level equally.

There is actually an OO guild though I rarely see anyone else online. Send me a friend request @Redfive and I will send you an invitation if you want.

EDIT: it is a very forgiving game on lower end systems--you should have no problems.

I played for about 7 hours during the free weekend on Steam last week. Got my character up to level 8 running around as quickly as possible completing all the FedEx, escort, and grind missions I could without reading any of the dialogue. That was enough to confirm that I'm still burnt out on the MMO game model.

ESO, more than any other MMO not named FF XIV, has a really interesting storyline that underpins all of the typical MMO questing "stuff". Folks who purposefully skip all of that in order to powerlevel as quickly as possible are unlikely to enjoy the game, I would guess.

To second skinypupy, yeah you probably would get more out of it if you followed the quests.

Not judging, different strokes and all, but ESO does a pretty good job providing interesting quests. The FedEx are there for sure, but I've gotten the most enjoyment out of the questing in ESO than any other MMO.

I wish more folks around here would stick with it a bit. I have a great time playing the game but it'd be even better running a dungeon every once in awhile with some OO'rs.

The leveling process is slower too. It took me awhile to adjust but once I stopped watching the xp bar so closely I've enjoyed it even more.

That said you can actually speed up leveling a fair bit but it is not without a little effort on the front end and you would need to spend some crowns. I had 900 sitting in my account since they went B2P and finally used most of it on 5 scrolls that boost xp for 2 hours each. There are other ways to stack the bonus xp on top of that as well.

I saw this was super cheap in the steam sale and then I upsold myself on the edition that included some DLC (Dark Brotherhood please). I played a lot of this weekend. I have a level 13(?) Wood Elf Nightblade. I'm still bouncing around the starting continent with a few things to finish off there. My intent was to be an archer (hence wood elf), but the bows seem so slow. I have been dual wielding/assassination for the most part. I guess once I hit 15 I can equip a bow too and maybe switch in combat?

I do slow down and read quest text once in a while, which is a pretty big change for me in an MMO. I like the graphics and the semi-active combat. I don't like the loot and crafting. Also, unlike WoW some of the non-dungeon content is HARD. A few times I have found myself hanging around a mob waiting for someone else to come along to help.

I still have no idea what I am doing, and only having 5 skills equipped at a time is tough. I give up 20% of my offensive options to add a crowd control ability. I'd have to give up 25% of the remaining if I wanted invisibility. I guess that will go on my bow skill bar when I get to 15.

I guess I should go back and read the previous pages unless someone has an up to date "tips for noobs" link. :D

I made the same type character back when I started and played. As I recall Id could get one or two bow shots off then had to switch to melee. Seems like I had..or maybe I thought I needed...a tank pet.

Coop,

The single biggest thing I would say you should be aware of while leveling is to make sure you have at least 1 skill each from your class lines (so that's 3) and then a couple of weapon skills on your bar at all times.

In case you don't know, the skills that are currently on your active bar will level faster because they benefit from experience you gain when turning in quests.

This advice seemed familiar and I see that I said basically the same thing a few posts up.

Combat options will open up at 15 like you mentioned because you'll be able to hot switch bars during combat.

I really enjoy the character building in ESO. You aren't limited by what kind of armor you can wear and you level the skill you want so classes can be very customized.

Send me a message if you'd like an invite to the guild. @Redfive

There are rarely more than two of us on at a time but you never know :) Also, we are only 2-3 members short of being able to place our own guild store. Just don't ask me how that is supposed to work :)

I updated and fiddled around with a new DK over the holiday weekend. I am obsessed with making a competent Bow user for some reason and DK is my latest attempt :) I so do not have time for MMORPG anymore these days but I really dig this one. I'll be futzing around over the holidays some more and will look for you guys. Red, I think I am already in the guild but will message you in game if not.

I had no problem with a bow dual slotted on a Nightblade, although it takes a while to get the right skills so I dual-wielded with one slot until then. First slot bow is for single target and the second slot bow for AOE. Scatter shots + Volleys can clean up in most situations in even the harder public dungeons and any anchors. The dungeon bosses and unique world rares are hit and miss, especially if you can't CC them. Epic food buffs that improve stam/health/magic regen are extremely helpful too. I also have a cloth wearing DK with sword & board and resto staff who is also pretty bad ass.

I never seemed to be active when others were around so never got into the OO guild. If someone is going to be on a certain time I can try and log in and join to stock the gbank with epic distillates, although I am missing the level 30-34 recipe. I have all but enchanting maxxed so can craft something if your gear is falling too far behind. I picked up the Orc DLC when they had it on sale so will be trying to get back in the game. It sounds like Redfive is going to be out of pocket for a while so an invite might be hard to come by. I will add you to my friends list so I can bug you if I see you on. :D

I'm only 14 so I am not wanting for anything as the levels go too fast to be bothered now.

I do have a question about the DLC. I bought the Gold Pack so I have 4 DLC and have the starter quests for three of them. Does anyone have any idea if I should wait on these or just dive in? As a Nightblade, both the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood interest me in particular.

I keep seeing people in chat say level doesn't matter so I guess it doesn't matter but I imagine if the DLC have good loot I'd rather have it be high level good loot than stuff I would just replace. The argument for sooner would be if I can get skills I can start building up now.

I've only dealt with the Thieves Guild dlc and overall I would say it doesn't really matter much when you do them. The Thieves Guild dailies can help you level the Thieves skills but they're not really relevant to combat and questing, just handy for selling stolen loot and dealing with guards if you get caught. I think the same goes for Dark Brotherhood. You can find Thieves chest anywhere in Tamriel that can only be opened if you have the dlc and they can have some really nice gear. When the dlc was first released the chests would respawn every few minutes so people would just camp them. If an NPC sees you open one it is considered stealing, so you kinda need to be careful when you see them in towns.

Nice to see forum traffic pick up a little for this.

Morlac you are in the guild from before and you might have officer rank which means you could send out invitations until I get back Monday afternoon.

Akron is the guildmaster, hopefully he'll see this thread and can perform promotions as needed.

As far as DLC is concerned, all level 'requirements ' were removed when One Tamriel went live so no need to wait on starting if it looks interesting.

This thread has me on the fence whether I should install and give the game another go. Never got very far the couple of times I tried. My big question; is there more bag space or is it still inventory Tetris a couple a times a night? Second not so big question, have mount's become more attainable?

You still start with a 60 slot bag but its relatively cheap to upgrade to 70 & 80, or at least cheap enough where I could give you the gold. I think they added a few walking vendors on the road to help and I feel the number of way shrines make it kinda easy to port back to town. Upgrading your mounts carrying capacity at the stable every 20 hours also helps a lot, which brings up the next question. The cheapest mount is 10k and its stats are no different than the more expensive ones. I don't remember how long it takes to make 10k, people just starting probably have a better idea. You can also buy a mount for as low as 900 crowns that I know will be available for any character, not sure if it works that way for the gold vendor mounts. If it does, I have no problem in helping out with the purchase of the 10k mounts since the sooner you get the mount the sooner your bag space can grow. I use to log on even when I wasn't playing to max out my horse skills, which are character based not account. I'm not a hard core player in the least so I have no problem in giving out some of the gold I've accumulated.
