Since I turned on Specials to get Hunt missions again, his trust was capped as soon as I completed the first Hunt - which he wasn't even involved in. Apparently you get Trust with other survivors when you help any of them complete something.

That is true, though on the higher levels ('m on 27 right now), it becomes increasingly more difficult to max out the trust bar. That's where the "Leadership" skill comes into play; Marcus can woo those other survivors a lot more quickly than my other A-team members.

New cool DLC coming out this weekend. You command a squad of soldiers sent deal with the situation and maintain order but things quickly go bad and you have to decide how to proceed as you get less and less support and get cut off from the chain of command:

Note the PC version will be available at the same time. Looks like fun!

Re: State of Decay
Well, I am not a fan of this new one. I like the new map, and the idea of the new scenario. But the zombies are fast now. And there are more of them. Plus, the boss zombies also seem more numerous and resilient. I emptied two clips into a feral and it kept getting up. Used to be, those guys died if you got the drop on them with a gun.
So I guess I am just going to have to wait until someone makes the new DLC easier.

I wonder if it will overwrite the current MODS installed for State of Decay or if I need to uninstall the MODS before downloading.

One interesting thing about Lifeline is that, unlike the base game and Breakdown, time does not pass when I'm not playing. It takes some mental adjustment.

Fun game but unbelievably frustrating. The clipping, controls, and camera all take away from the enjoyment. But the unique gameplay and atmosphere keeps me playing. I think I am going to restart again with the George Romero mod so I can remove the special zombies. I hate the behemoths or whatever they are called. I lost Ed, Maya, and Sam to them. Do not mind the other special zombies but those big bastards piss me the hell off.

Re: State of Decay
The big bastards get better once you can make grenades. I always have two per person after they've been researched. It only takes two. The game is rough around the edges, but it is still my favorite game since Skyrim.

Are you asking yourself a question ? There are options for different combinations of special/no special zombies, both with or without extra enclaves.

That was a bit odd of me. I thought I missed something obvious and somebody could point me in the right direction. Thought I installed No special but it added all zombie types. Crazy level of zombie population.
Edit: My game is corrupted from the mod. Have to do a reinstall. Sigh.

Re: State of Decay
Dead Island is a polished FPS/RPG with zombies. You follow a story and explore the island and finish the story. You evolve your character through experience and collect items to stay alive and repair/upgrade your equipment. It's got a lot of scripted moments and tense scenes. NPC's come and go as you move through the game world towards the end. You can start over in a "New Game Plus" mode where you're still level 50.wi111 wrote:just wonder how is this game compare with Dead island or dead rising ???
State of Decay is more like Grand Theft Auto with zombies (you do a lot of driving). The main story has you exploring a town, aligning with survivor groups, defending against hordes, and working to stay alive until you can escape. The main story has a lot of scripted moments. The game does progress while you're offline, but slower and slower as you stay out longer. You can control any NPC you've gained enough trust with in order to increase their skills or change their equipment (or get them killed if you don't like/want them). You scavenge buildings for supplies and gear, and the NPC's do the same while you're offline. The sandbox mode is the same - without a story or scripted scenes - but escape means starting over with a select number of previous survivors and all the gear in your inventory, on a harder map of the same town. You start over, over, over, over and it gets harder each time. Death (you or your team) is permanent and there are no old saves to revert to, but that doesn't end the game unless it was your last survivor.

Re: State of Decay
Finally got the game playable by using a gamepad and dropping the camera sensitivity way down. It still isn't perfect, but it is playable.
My backup character died on my mission to the vet at the beginning of the game (somehow two zombies appeared behind me despite the two NPCs walking into the room they came from and nonchalantly started scavenging while I died) and I was moments away from dying with my main character (lesson: I should not take my characters out at night yet) when I quit and deleted the profile. Question: when I start over with a new profile, I'm assuming the game will treat that like a complete blank slate, right?

Re: State of Decay
I have played both and not gotten all that far into either bu Id say State of Decay. You could go out on gathering runs and recruitment runs...more stuff and people you had you could upgrade your base with more stuff like beds, work areas, and even towers to snipe from. I enjoyed that part. but again I didn't get far. In SoD I got to where it was time to move base almost but didn't.

Yeah, State of Decay is all about survival. You do various things for your friends and neighbors while also scavenging for goods and materials and upgrading your base. Running is often your best option.

Do you get a car repair place at your 2nd base? In my original try at it I must have had 15 cars sitting outside of my base on fire and smoking I like running over walkers too much it seems.

Anywhere you can build a Workshop and then upgrade it to a Garage (I forget the name, not the bomb factory) then you can repair cars - but it takes a game day to do it.Daehawk wrote:Do you get a car repair place at your 2nd base? Re: State of Decay
Considerign a reinstall. I never did get my second base going my first play time.
Questions will be many Im guessing as usual with me.
First up...Should I take out a different person all the time to get them skilled up or something? The first time I played I just took the same guy all the time.

Re: State of Decay
Gotta switch up at least to get some rest - one character can't run around forever - but there is benefit in getting everyone up in skill to some degree. Improving aim helps thwart zombie invasions, improving other stats helps them survive missions out and helps you if you bring them along as an escort.Daehawk wrote:First up...Should I take out a different person all the time to get them skilled up or something? Okay, now I understand where you're coming from, but your quote does not mean that it is a truly separate single player universe. They may just be saying that it is possible to play solo within the multiplayer universe. Sorry for being pissy, it's been difficult for me to process the events of this past weekend, and I've been a little short-tempered..Max Peck wrote:I have no idea what you're talking about re "from 6 months ago." Re: State of Decay
Understandable.
By the sound of what I'm reading, you can play the game just like the original - solo with a group of survivors to manage. There's also a multiplayer aspect where you do the same thing, and so does anyone else in the game - you both run your respective camps and work together.
