Sim City
For some reason a search came up empty. Anyway, what is the state today? Greenman Gaming has it for $28, and I'm wondering if it's worth it.
I spent 90% of the money I made on women, booze, and drugs. The other 10% I just pissed away.

Re: Sim City
They fixed a bunch of stuff but the refusal to increase city sizes has made me largely disinterested.
They seem more interested in making cheesy addons/DLC than making a good city simulator.

Re: Sim City
You can have a short bit of fun, but even if you overlook a ton of the flaws you still generally run out of things to do pretty quick in any city.
This is MOO3 levels of fail. I'd recommend waiting for it to at least drop below $10 before experimenting.

Wait for $1.99.
This game might actually be my biggest upset/disappointment/worst game 2013.

1.99$ is a bit low.Citizen wrote:Wait for $1.99.

It's a bad game but you can get 10$ worth of playtime out of it (at 1$ an hour).

Re: Sim City
I didn't have very high expectations (it being an EA game and all), but, while I think it has short longevity I did have a lot of fun with it. For couple of weeks or so. Certainly not a classic like the original SimCity or SC2000, but good fun for a while. Like much of what EA throws up these days.

Re: Sim City
They just announced an offline mode to be released in the next update (10).
About time, if by some miracle some modders can expand the map size I might install this again.
Only time will tell........... but we're on the right track!

Re: Sim City
Little bored tonight so playing with it a little. Still to early to know if inteaction between cities works better. I could deal a lot better with the small cities if trade/education etc. works effectively between the teeny tiny cities.

Re: Sim City
But you still have to be logged into the origin account and you can't close origin and be playing Sim City. So it seems like I'm still online.

Re: Sim City
I put Origin in Offline mode and I could play SimCity single player. I think they use their client as their DRM much like Steam.

Re: Sim City
Between the $20 price tag and the "impossible" off-line single player mode finally being activated, I finally bit today. Purchased from Amazon but still had to download from Origin. You would think that the version available for download would be the latest and greatest, but I spent the better part of the afternoon patching.
Then again, this is EA we're talking about.

Re: Sim City
Heh, I can relate. When I saw the offline update was available I fired up Origin when I got home and clicked on Sim City and told it to update. It began downloading an update and so I let it do its thing. Sometime later I return and it says, all done your game is ready to play. On launch the update dialog starts and yet more waiting. Yay.

Re: Sim City
my elder nephew reallllly wants this (and the Cities of Tomorrow expansion) for Christmas, for some reason. this is after i gave him Sim City 4 + Rush Hour expansion as a present last year, and his dad and i trying to tell him that SC4 is the far better game.

While that is true, there was a good bit of fun in this one.

Cities Skyline is the answer. Tell him there's nearly 100K mods for it.

Re: Sim City
Cities Skylines is on sale for $7.50. It's a slam dunk at that price. Get the Mass Transit DLC as well, the rest is optional.

Re: Sim City
two issues:
1) nephew's dad doesn't want nephew to have a Steam account yet (but looks like Origin's ok)
2) grandparents already purchased the Sim City discs
EDIT: can you use the Paradox client to play it? or whatever Paradox uses? GOG.com doesn't have it. i suppose the Xbox One version is also an option.
