Sid Meier's Ace Patrol

Post by dbt1949 »

(not the Pacific one)
I finally achieved every achievement (52). First time I've ever done that with any game on Steam.
And I didn't get a lousy plaque or a go to hell or anything. What a bummer.
Took me 83 hours to do it.

You're welcome.
I spent 90% of the money I made on women, booze, and drugs. The other 10% I just pissed away.

I just realized I had this in my Steam backlog and started playing for the first time ever. It's quite a bit of fun. Unfortunately, it keeps crashing at the end of missions making me replay the whole mission. It's fun, but not that fun. :(

If I recall, I beat a playthrough of Ace Patrol, and had fun too. I don't have many achievements unlocked though.

I don't think I made it through the sequel, Pacific Skies. Might have to give that a go.

EDIT: OR I could play the original as one of the other countries. Upon checking, it looks like I only beat it as the British.

I've finished all of the achievements on Ace Patrol and 42/50 on Pacific Skies.
I love both the games but prefer WW1.
In WW1 I like the British, especially using the DH2. Only one gun but it'll fire in many directions. I have used it all the way until the last year w/all the updates.
Before a mission save your game and choose your mission, if you don't like it reload the mission and start over until you find one you like. Works for both games.
I prefer flying over my own territory and love one on one with me against an ace or 3-4 newbies.

I started saving after every mission and haven't had another crash. I'm not very good at the game, but it really is a lot of fun. I also appear to have the Pacific sequel, so I have quite a bit of flying in my future.

Yeah, I had the same crash after a mission, at the camp screen, when I went to start the next. I started saving every time, and found it to be smooth sailing after that, but wanted to make test it a bit more. Glad to hear that's working for you too.

I have both, but I don't think I played it THAT much. It's fun, but the skill unlocking thing just feels a bit too arbitrary, even if you do get to choose the skill, sorta.
