Well do you ever get the feeling that the story's too damn real and in the present tense?

Reading lots of complaints about the graphics/animations. It doesn't really matter to me, I'd play this on the old engine as I love the ME series, but for a new entry into the series, the graphics don't seem to match something like today's DXMD or ROTTR.Max Peck wrote:CES 2017 Gameplay Trailer.

I've been replaying Dragon Age Inquisition lately, and the overall aesthetics between the two games are remarkably similar. Just swap out lasers for swords and you're 90% of the way there.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
Which is now Frostbite, the EA engine. They use a lot of the same effects now, and for a while Dragon Age Origins used a lot of stuff from Mass Effect, and vice versa. It's fine, and part of the Bioware style.
To be frank, I stopped listening to the masses complain about graphics and animations a long time ago. I think most people have a vision in their heads that's unobtainable by any kind of tech or studio, and it's all about the gameplay. It's like how there's a contingent complaining about Dawn of War 3 not being grim dark enough, which is the same stupid argument you saw from people about Diablo 3.
I remember the talking mannequins of ME1-3. They may look a little weird in MEA, but they're a far cry from the original trilogy and actually have complex expressions.

A look at the Tempest and Nomad
I really love the look of that Nomad. M<akes me wonder if we could build one for offroading now....minus the element zero core of course ....and that Tempest can do 13 light years a day?

Is there any information out yet with regard to just how many explorable star systems there are in the game?

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
I'm hopeful is a small, better crafted galaxy then sprawling land that Dragon Age: Inquisition was. DA:I has some stunning locations but after a while it got overwhelming and many of the quests weren't very high quality. Crafting was way over done too with very little of it leading to meaningful RPG choices.Max Peck wrote:"We have an entire galaxy to scout, recruits."

Mass Effect is supposed to have crafting too and I hope they have learned from their experience with DA. Yeah, I'd take a smaller galaxy if it a really interesting place.

I really wish they'd stop putting "crafting systems" into otherwise good games. Unless it's "blacksmith simulator", in which case, fair enough. Look, I'm an ultimate badass galaxy saving hero, I don't need to be collecting boar testicles and turning them into leather shoulderpads.

I fully agree with a game like Andromeda. Totally un needed and sometimes tedious. In ME2 I got SO sick of scanning for my upgrade stuff. I dont mind upgrading weapons but prefer the way it was done in ME3.NickAragua wrote:I really wish they'd stop putting "crafting systems" into otherwise good games. Hmmm, I don't even remember weapons upgrades in ME3 and thats probably a good thing. Things like that should just organically work.Daehawk wrote:I fully agree with a game like Andromeda. Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
This entire time Ive been thinking that the reason the other species have planets is because the Human one got lost. But what if its like some of those episodes of the Star Trek shows? Its supposedly been a few hundred years that they slept as they made their way to Andromeda. What if in that time the Milky Way races improved their tech which is normal and simply made better drive tech and surpassed the sleeper ships. Built ships faster than them and passed them up?

Amazon is running a promotion, if you are prime member, you can pre-order the game for $47.99 (PC, PS4 or XB1), physical copy only. I think GMG is about the same price, but GMG EA keys are not from EA directly I heard, so may not getting the pre-order bonus if order from GMG.

Well, my i7-4770K and GTX 780 fall closer to the recommended than the minimum, and that's the situation with Ghost Recon Wildlands too, so I guess I can work around it.

More info: BioWare reveals file size for Mass Effect: Andromeda, plus a Day One patch
55 GBIt's next month. This is not a drill. Next month, Mass Effect: Andromeda will finally grace us with its presence—and boy, is it an imposing presence.
If you're going to be playing on a PS4 or an Xbox one, you'll need somewhere between 45 GB to 60 GB of free space (though it shouldn't extend past either of those extremes). If you're a PC player, the file size is looking to be about 55 GB. It's hefty either way, but we can't really be surprised what with all the bragging about 4k BioWare has been doing lately.
BiOWare also confirmed that while a good part of the team is still working hard on the Day One patch, the game very recently went gold—which, if you're unfamiliar, means that the initial development of the game has completed.
I'm going to say that again. Completed.

You won't be able to wait till November ... article from Blues News, Mass Effect Andromeda Promises "Totally Softcore Space Porn"
BioWare responds to a couple of fan questions following a post a few weeks ago on the BioWare Social Network Fan Forums revealing an "M" ESRB rating for Mass Effect Andromeda (thanks VG247). The rating says the game includes partial nudity and strong sexual content, and Aaryn Flynn tweets a reply to a query about this, saying "Yes it's totally softcore space porn." When asked if he was trolling his followers, he follows up with a tweet saying simply, "Oh I'm not."

'Mass Effect Andromeda' Lead Designer On the Influence of the Original Game
bits and bytes:
During the presentation before we got to play today, you folks mentioned that you wanted to emphasize "seamless space exploration." That didn't jump out at me when I was playing. What should I have been looking for?
I'm nonetheless noticing an emphasis on wandering and exploration after playing for a little while. It's evocative of the first Mass Effect.
It looks like you've embraced granularity when it comes to some of the game's mechanics, particularly in combat and character advancement.
I noticed something called the Explorer profile when I was playing. It stood out amongst a bunch of class names that I'm familiar was from Mass Effect. What is it?
