I looked at the specs and I'm wondering how much I'm going to suffer having a GTX 780. From the gameplay videos I didn't think it would be too much of a graphics games, but the minimum is a GTX 660 and recommended is GTX 950... :?

Wait, I looked this up on PassMark Videocard Benchmarks and supposedly my GTX 780 is better than a GTX 950 :D. Huh, the things you learn.

Anyway, over on Green Man Gaming (which is offering 20% for the next day or so with a code) the description blurb says "jump into single-player skirmish mode to test your strategies against the AI". I'll probably only be playing solo, does this game have a lot of content for the solo player?

Sorry to be so ignorant of the game but I haven't been following it, I've been confusing it with that VR first player one

Yeah, it's actually mostly single player. You basically run a mercenary company out in the sticks doing jobs for various Inner Sphere and periphery powers.

There's a multiplayer skirmish component to it, but I don't really plan on spending too much time there.

There's a full on single player campaign (not sure as the length but there's apparently infinite number of procedurally generated missions that you can play instead of the story missions). The Inner Sphere map has hundreds or thousands of systems you can visit and take missions from. The single player campaign can be infinitely long

Then there's single player skirmish against AI as well.

The campaign is single-player, so far as I know.

I clicked on the last two trailers before that and realized immediately that I'd rather wait and experience the game first-hand and then backtrack on these things later. 13 more days.

Longest 13 days of my life.

There are a few steamers who have been allowed to preview the first section of the campaign. I've watched them all and they just make me want it more.

Plan to be playing(and streaming) this for a long time.

I watched just enough on Youtube to satisfy myself that it's right up my alley, but want to experience it firsthand. Day One for sure

I watched two different people play the "3 years later" mission where the intro tells you, "take out the turret generator quickly to shutdown the turrets." They both are getting hammered over and over by the turrets while trying to kill the pair of mechs that are hardly touching them. At the end they both are like "I probably should have gone after the generator first." In fact one of them says they should prioritize it over and over again and never freaking do it. I enjoy watching ChristopherOdd play XCOM, but man he doesn't learn fast.

It doesn't help that in that mission there was a bug so that when talking about the Turret Generator the screen is focused on the Command Post and then when talking about the Command Post focus shifts up to the Turret Generator. Confused a lot of people.

I don't see why more people don't do as was my gut instinct.
Spoiler:
Just quickly sprint/jump around the right side and take that TG out before you even bother with anything else. If you must let the BJ-1 harass the mechs to allow the others to focus on the generator. The turrets around the generator are just AC/2s so I would totally ignore them.

This is so weird because until a couple of weeks ago I didn't have much interest in it and now I'm excited. I'm hoping it's got a lot of the flavor of Titans of Steel: Warring Suns. I played a lot of that game.

Well, I've been a fan of BattleTech ever since it was BattleDroids... I bought the original Mechwarrior game before I even had a PC to play it on (and my PC requirement at the time was "Can it play Mechwarrior?". I bought my PC at PC Richards because they were he only ones who let me install and test the game on their demo PC. I sat and played for about 1.5 hours in the store...
If they have a pre-load by early Sunday, I can pre-load onto my laptop that I'm taking with me and then just have to unlock it.

Hopefully better level/mission design though. I remember one mission where you had to make your way through a narrow mountain maze full of lava lakes, not fun.

<3 <3 <3 Many many many hours were spent with this game as well as it's predacessor on the Amiga many years ago.

too many game and too little time, so I'ma go GreenGoo on this and watch here reviews and wait for deep discounting even if this does very much look like my game.

My only concern is the AI seems a bit brain dead and all the missions boil down to kill all the enemy mechs. The Escort missions I watched basically were walk the friendly units to a point and then kill all the mechs . Don't get me wrong I enjoy killing the enemy mechs but more variety in the missions will give it longer legs.

Hopefully the AI has been tweaked during this streaming period and I am wondering if things change after the embargoed mission is unlocked with respect to the missions.

I know that sounds negative but I watched all of COHcarnage's 36 stream videos and really enjoyed what I saw. I just noticed some odd unit behaviours and how all the missions basically boiled down to destroy all the enemy mechs (but then again that's the whole point of Battletech).

There is no longer an embargo and they are all streaming a newer version.

They can now play the entire game with ANY restrictions.

Does anyone know if that means I'll be able to install and play on multiple computers?
