The Japanese site Nikkei is reporting that Hideo Kojima has officially left Konami as of today, December 15, and is in the process of creating a new studio with former members of Kojima Productions. The site also reports that Kojima is currently in talks with Sony Computer Entertainment.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Never heard of him.
"This game is best played with a warm cup of Folger's coffee in your hands, so you can actually smell the oppression while you relive the greatest period of all time. The period when white people discovered the world, and decided they didn't like it." - EUIV Steam user review

What was up with the Bond-level secrecy of "He isn't leaving, any notion he is leaving is a rumor" earlier in the year? Was this an attempt to not mess with sales of MGS:V? Despite him being admittedly unhappy, the game did come out really really well.

In an interview with the BBC about his new game, Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima mentioned that his studio, Kojima Productions, will venture into filmmaking. This idea isn't exactly a surprising one; Kojima is famous for taking a film-like approach to game design while also being infamous for including lengthy cutscenes in his work. That said, filmmaking and game design are two different beasts. Kojima doesn't seem phased by this, though. "If you can do one thing well, then you can do everything well," he claims, seemingly bucking conventional wisdom.

You can swim so surly you can be an astronaut.

So maybe 1 or 2 years before he is on Kickstarter wanting to make a game / company again?
