Fingers crossed that they'll bring it over for PC.

In the meantime, I've added an Xbox One S to my wishlist and Christmas is right around the corner.

I expect that it will eventually come to PC (maybe on a similar schedule as GTA5), but I couldn't resist curb-stomping any incipient premature hype. :)

Sadly no. I was hoping today's announcement was going to include it finally being ported over....but maybe still Thursday. It was definitely in my Top 5 games of the last generation. If I could send you an Xbox360 and a copy, I would...it's that good. :D

Oh, I've played the first one on my PS3 and really enjoyed it. I just don't see a PS4 or XBoxOne in my future so that will mean no sequel for me

I think Red Dead will never be ported. Too old and system specific. I would love RDR2 to be on PC..id buy it there because of the chance of mods. Ill likely wait a year to see if it comes to PC..if not Ill get it at a sale price for PS4.

IIRC, the reason that RDR wasn't ported to PC was rumoured to be that the code was too much of a mess to do the port (alongside some internal wrangling?), not that they just arbitrarily decided not to do it. I expect that we'll see the same thing with RDR2 as GTA5, where they release it first on consoles and later on PC.

They released a version for the XBone not that long ago. I was thinking that would likely help bring it closer to a PC release seeing as the XBone runs on a modified version of Windows.

It was added to the XBone backwards compatibility list, but I don't know if that would require any work on the game itself. I don't see any info about an actual XBone version though.

No, you're probably right. But I still think that would likely make it easier for a PC release.

Maybe, if XB1 backwards compatibility extends to W10 compatibility somehow. Otherwise, if the game's code base was too much of a mess to make a port cost-effective before, then nothing has changed. I won't get my hopes up for a PC version of RDR1 unless they announce something like a remastered edition for consoles first. In the mean time, I'll remain cautiously optimistic that we'll see RDR2 on PC -- eventually. :)

Okay, so maybe there will be a way to play Red Dead Redemption on a PC after all. Sort of...
In addition, the PS3 classic Red Dead Redemption will be coming to PlayStation Now soon. Relive the epic story of former outlaw John Marston as he hunts down the gang members he once called friends through the harsh and punishing landscape of America’s dying West.

Interesting. I knew it allowed you to play older games, but I had no idea they had made it available for PC.

There already is a console thread for RDR2. This thread is needed for our emo kvetching about how Rockstar is rigging the game against the PC Gaming Master Race®. At most, it should be renamed to "Too Soon To Start Thinking About Red Dead Redemption 2?"

No, it's not too soon. From BluesNews:
Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Plans?

[Jun 22, 2018, 11:07 am ET] - 10 Comments
A post on Reddit from TeamGuru, a group of GTA5 Easter egg hunters, shows evidence that Rockstar is planning a PC edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 (thanks VG247). This comes from a LinkedIn profile where an unnamed Rockstar Leeds programmer listed the following credit: "Red Dead Redemption 2 - PS4/Xbox1/PC." The profile has apparently now been edited to remove the reference, which helps support the idea that this was a leak, rather than a typo, which probably would have been corrected, rather than deleted. The original installment in this wild west shooter series has not yet made its way to the PC, and the sequel has an October 26th release date for consoles.

RDR2 made Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me this weekend...

Apparently one of the features in RDR2 is that horse genitals react realistically to temperature changes, and for some reason they thought that might make a good joke.

I bet Rockstar could make a mint off a DLC "John Wayne", "Clint Eastwood", or "Steve McQueen" playable character with voice.

Ian McShane doing Swearengen would be awesome.

And stop talking about this game in the PC section because I don't want to be forced into buying a console.

Don't worry, there was a reference in some article to a LinkedIn profile where someone's second cousin was linked to an unnamed Rockstar programmer that might have once used a PC. So it's a done deal.
