Re: Starcraft Remastered @ 4K
I’ll give that a try, if nothing else to see if I remember it correctly or if time has colored my memory. I remember SC1 feeling a lot different than SC2 ended up. I enjoyed SC2 for the campaigns but the multiplayer I passed on almost entirely. It just feels so much spammier than the original with units dying almost instantly. Of course it could just be that I played SC1 as a teenager and my reflexes are shot now…

Re: Starcraft Remastered @ 4K
Only being able to select 12(?) units at a time was my least favorite thing about that game. Total Annihilation was out around the same time and had no such issue. But I measure all RTS games against TA and C&C.
Not that I hate SC. I loved it. Protoss is my favorite. For Aiur!

I think that limitation was one reason why I enjoyed Starcraft 1 so much more than 2. I dislike macro in RTS and limited group sizes reduced the number of units that tended to be in fights, at least outside of proplay.

It's almost as if people are the problem.

Re: Starcraft Remastered @ 4K
I only played the demo for SC, twice, for about 15 minutes each .. I was a TA junkie and couldn't adapt to other interfaces. I also hated that 'turned-askew', organic building design that kept your bases from being tight, compact .. trivial, I know, but not to an OCD out-patient. TA didn't have that.
so if you could only select 12 units, what happens when you drag a box around 20? .. would you always have to select the group individually? Shift-Click?
I do remember making a unit or two, and sending them to stand at the edge of camp, and this guy at the lower edge of my screen said something like: "Excuse me, sir, but I don't think the commander knows what he's doing .. you need to give him orders to shoot"

Since the ad says: "Presale Unlocks: Korhal Command Center, Aiur Nexus, and Char Hive" I pre-ordered Starcraft Remastered.

You can only select twelve. Drag a box around 20 and you get 12 of them. You manage your troops by hotkeying the groups of 12, and as I recall, you'll always hit the population cap before you run out of hotkeys.KDH wrote: so if you could only select 12 units, what happens when you drag a box around 20? .. would you always have to select the group individually? I liked it. The benefit was that people tended to use their troops more tactically (hotkeys 1 and 2 were front lines assault, group 3 was long range units that set up in the rear, while 4 was fast fliers that served as reinforcments, etc.) as opposed to just grabbing 50 units and flinging them at the enemy.

Nope. I was ranked in the top 100 in DoW2 though, which was all about small scale tactics.Isgrimnur wrote:Ever play EndWar?Lordnine wrote:I think that limitation was one reason why I enjoyed Starcraft 1 so much more than 2. I probably will get this for memory sake. But I'm curious, will they ever released Diablo 2 Remastered? I've heard tons of rumors and speculations about it. Yet haven't heard any official info from Blizzard so far.

Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 are very, very likely.Antonio94 wrote:I probably will get this for memory sake. But I'm curious, will they ever released Diablo 2 Remastered? I've heard tons of rumors and speculations about it. Yet haven't heard any official info from Blizzard so far.
I'd honestly wish for an update to Diablo 1 myself. D2 was great, but it has aged better than D1 has.

I bought the first Starcraft 2 episode. Played it a few times and quit. Fast forward a few years and I get the urge to play it again. They tell me I don't own it anymore.

Re: Starcraft Remastered @ 4K
That's strange. I have a number of Blizzard games that I have owned for years and have never had that problem. After buying a new PC, I have the option to Install games I own but which haven't been installed on my new PC. Don't you have that?dbt1949 wrote:I bought the first Starcraft 2 episode. Are you sure you did not get a trial code from someone? IIRC, they were giving out trial codes in WoW boxes and maybe one in Overwatch.dbt1949 wrote:I bought the first Starcraft 2 episode. I have the cd sitting in front of me as we speak. Maybe if I reinstalled it but has a very big footprint.

I'm pretty sure you can input any Blizzard CD key into their website and instantly have a digital copy added to your account.

So as it turns out teenage me was much better at this style of RTS...Lordnine wrote:I’ll give that a try, if nothing else to see if I remember it correctly or if time has colored my memory.
