I can hardly wait. Although I have to admit I have at least two games I bought last summer that I haven't got around to playing. I installed them, adjusted settings, benchmarked them, so they are ready to play. I think I enjoy that process more than actually playing the games themselves.

I've actually built a small wishlist of games that I want but don't want to pay real money for, so this might a good season for me... Or a bad season for my wallet...

So, do I run up to Meijer to get $5 off a $50 Best Buy Gift Certificate (which is also like a free $1 on their $2 back for every $100 you spend), so I can run up to Best Buy and get a $50 Steam card? Recently Amazon was giving back $5 on $50 Steam Cards. I was totally debating buying $50 Amazon cards from Meijer for a net of $6 back so I could $5 back from Amazon for buying $50 Steam Card.

I could have then essentially gotten $50 of Steam Summer sale for $39.

If I had the time and patience to be as cheap as my inner self desires to be, I could totally clean up on these things.

How much money are you spending on gas to get there?

I grocery shop at Meijer anyway (which is on my to/fro work) and Best Buy is about 3/4s of mile from Meijer.

It's more about the effort than the gas. Best Buy is an extra wait in line. Amazon sometimes play game when they offer discounts and you have to figure out whether or not that discount applies to the exact purchase and method you are making.

I'm going to be out of town at a gaming convention, but I will be back before it is over. Luckily, I got a $20 Steam card for Father's Day, so I'll probably be able to pick up an item or two.

And then play more Skyrim.

When does the sale start? Not that I need anything ... still have 125 games in my backlog -- but since when have I let that stop me from buying something new!

it's funny seeing people get all obsessive about selling their Steam cards for nine or 12 cents or whatever, trying to game it for that extra cent based on market conditions, when they make livable-or-better wages.

We're driving down to Puerto Penasco for the weekend to visit friends who retired down there and check out the viability of retiring there ourselves, so no extra spending for me until my return.

Fortunately for me the sale extends through pay day.
I spent 90% of the money I made on women, booze, and drugs. The other 10% I just pissed away.

And that is why I give my cards to JetFred. For him, it's a meta game itself that he enjoys. For me, it's a worse return on my time than coupon cutting that I find no pleasure in.

Think the only thing I will grab is the Fallout 4 season pass if it's a decent price. Other than that I have so many damn games that I really shouldn't buy anything.

If there was an easy way to click and give all my cards away, I would too. Right now it's too daunting to think of the hundreds of times I'd have to click.

Will this finally mark the occasion when Civilization 6 gets more than 10% off in a sale? Only time will tell. Firaxis certainly don't seem to be in a rush to make it cheaper to buy. :P

Me neither. I once did a trade with Jetfred and he was all like "why do all your cards suck? I'll just take your foil packs I guess" and I was like "I don't know, but...my foil packs..."

He told me all my card sucked too.... I think he may be lying. I've never seen a steam "foil" card. Steam has never given me anything but something it has labelled "Common"

These sales feel so anti-climatic now that they just discount everything at the start. So much of the fun was to see the new deals every day.

Yep, this. I don't know why it was such a difference for me either but definitely this.

I also think, without any supporting evidence, that the sales aren't anywhere near as good as they used to be discount wise.

I like sales, and I like them all being at once, so I can buy what I want, and then agonize over the second tier of games I want for a week or so... Then buy them anyway...

And then never play any of them....

But start them prior to going to work, so I can get the cards and make my 50 cents....

I will play all the games sooner or later... Most likely later...

Since I don't know what my connectivity situation will be this weekend, I'm kind of glad they eliminated the daily deals. Everything will still be on sale at the same price when I get back next week.

Welp, that's some pretty slims pickings from the PoV of my wishlist.

Edit: Maybe all the discounts aren't showing up yet. I think that's happened in the past.
