If it's a video game it goes here.

Could we get KOTOR 3 now?

Post by Daehawk »

Casey Hudson is back at Bioware. KOTOR and Mass Effect were his babies. I know SWTOR has kept a KOTOR 3 from happening. But Casey is back and imagine how many would join SWTOR after playing a new KOTOR?

I could get behind that. With less pod-racing, though. Like, none would be acceptable.

A man can dream, but it's still a fool's dream.
It's also an EA game, so it can't possible be interesting, let alone worth playing.

I've been hoping. SWTOR is kind of slowing down now, and they might need a game to fill that gap. Some of the things that game did with Revan were really silly and terrible and the way they've handled the character showed that they didn't really care much about him or the legacy. Some of the other legacy characters like Bastilla who does appear briefly were kind of screwy. They kind of ran them into the ground and shoved them out of the way. So, if there's ever a KOTOR 3, I don't necessarily think it needs to tie itself to the Revan storyline anymore. But doing another KOTOR might be a good idea in the sense of winning back fans that were displeased of making an MMO in favour of a 3rd game in the series.

Suddenly out of the blue I am tempted to replay the first KOTOR. WHY!? Why must my brain do this to me?? I know if I play it I have to replay them all. Its just the way the KOTORs and the Mass Effects are to me. But this one is imprinted in my brain. I know it by heart. Why would my gelatinous mass want to play this again? Damn meatbag.

Nothing wrong with KOTOR.

And if/when you get to KOTOR 2, make sure to grab the restoration mod and the droid planet mod. The restoration mod makes it about 100% better, while the droid planet could seriously use a lot more hallway shortening but is still an amusing little area.

Speaking of mods, there are a lot of them available via steam workshop for the sequel. My favourite being a high-resolution textures including skybox and man does it make a difference. Like a brand new game.

Ok thanks Mr R. I found a skybox one for the first one and have installed it. I gave up looking for a cut content patch. The only one I found was buggy. I put only 3 mods in...a skybox replacer, a space stars and such replacer...and a beam weapon effect replacer.

Yeah, KOTOR 1 was pretty much perfect out of the box, so nobody ever made too many mods for it. ;)

One thing I would suggest is to look for a mod that makes those stupid pod races easier. They might be fine for teenage cyborg me in 2003, but cranky old fart me in 2018 doesn't need that crap.

Yeah, there's a mod somewhere for those that disables the damage you take from barriers in those races.

Replaying KOTOR 2, I forgot how the opening sequence takes roughly 10 million hours. They really could have cut that down a bit.

I've got mixed feelings about it. The main annoying bit for me is the part where you go outside the space station and walk really freaking slowly. And I'm pretty sure you have to do it more than once. I think one of the mods multiplies the walking speed of the space suit by about 10x, making that segment more bearable.

First time I played it through, it was pretty amazing. But the second time, everything plays out the same so there's not much new or interesting to see, unlike all the other areas where you can make a variety of choices with regards to how you proceed.

Played until a bit into the planet part. Again I felt all I was doing was pressing buttons. Which all Im doing anyways but most times Im having fun pressing those buttons. here I feel like Im just pressing buttons. So deleted it too. While I was at it I deleted For Honor and a couple others. More fun to delete stuff it seems.

Not sure what Ill install, fix up, and delete next.

Daeehawk, take this for what it's worth.

I also sometimes enter a phase where I start installing games because they sound like fun, get frustrated or bored, uninstall it, and try again with the next game. Especially with old games that I know I had fun with before. Absolutely nothing ends up being fun. It usually carries over to other things, too. Favorite hobbies, favorite movies, favorite shows. Without exception, I've found, the problem isn't the games. The problem is me.

It's usually a sign that my depression is waking up again, and it means that, right then, I can't have fun. My brain isn't letting me. When it happens, I quit searching around for something to force me to happiness and deal with the actual problem. Afterwards I am able to have fun with things again.

I was just thinking how me and my online friends would sit here all day and play one game.....like Everquest......all day. 10 -20 corpse runs and all and we sat here having fun the entire time. Now I cant find a thing fun. Of course Im alone in gaming now.
