Latest hullabaloo is the launch flag -KoreanRating. If you launch PUBG with this flag, blood is a kind of neon blue. Supposedly it's for regions that don't allow blood in games played by minors.

Having watched some videos, I can say without a doubt that this makes it easier to tell if you've hit someone, and easier to see where a squadmate is shooting, assuming they've hit their target.

Not sure why they went with this shade of blue, and I'm not sure if they plan on removing the flag in non-censored regions. Seems...unbalanced somehow.

Give it a try and let the rest of us know what you think.

We need to work on our final circle strats.
A lot of it is getting into a good spot early and not engaging people unless you have to. You aren't trying to kill people. You are trying to make sure everyone dies. Everyone else fighting while you are chilling in a corner is the best situation. Of you could be Thunderball and just roid out.

Bad news Red, the replay stopped recording a few seconds after I died (probably when I switched to spectate). It stops right after you throw the grenades over the hill, after Cort is down, but before you come over the rise and start shooting up the place.

i.e. nothing good was recorded of the end game fight.

In any case, congrats on finishing off the 4 man team that stood between us and a chicken dinner.

All hail Red, provider of chicken for dinner.

That's okay, thanks for checking. Like I said in discord I can't believe I forgot to screen shot it since I did on the others.

I knew we were getting down to the end but honestly I thought they got me for about a second and a half or so before I realized it was a chicken dinner screen. I mean, I saw my shot blow the guy's helmet off I guess the follow up did the trick.

Picked up a 3rd for the first time in awhile on an NA server. 3 solid kills too, all of which included a headshot but none of them were killed by a headshot. I'll take it.

Died running full tilt to the circle, weapon put away, no weaving/dodging, just straight out sprint. Essentially I played it too cautiously at first and didn't give myself enough time to reach the circle so I had no choice but to abandon all hope and sprint. Died a few meters near the circle, by the circle.

Reviewing the tape, I knew where 1 of the last 2 dudes were, and the map was such that the other dude would have had to go through the guy who's location I knew to get to me. Chances are a little caution (after getting in the circle) and a grenade might have won it for me. Dude was in the second story of a octagon building and I happened to be approaching it on it's one semi-blind side.

Kill #1) Dude on second floor of those open sided (doors are rolling garage doors in the up position) buildings with all the windows on the second story. He hears me, I hear him. We wait, and wait, and wait. Circle's coming, so wtf, I throw I stun and run up. Well he was on the roof at that point, and jumps off. I rush the window but hear him coming back in. I start aiming at the stairs, when he starts shooting. The first 2 hit me but then stair railing blocks the 3rd (huzzah!) I fire back, clip him in the head and then body shot him all the way down. Lvl 3 body armour + metal bar won it for me.

Kill #2) Circle's getting pretty small, not a lot of time between circles. I see a dude up ahead inside the circle, about 75m away. There is no cover between me and the circle and it's only a matter of time before he sees me. I use my suppressed M4 with 2x scope to peek around a tiny tree and fire. Miss, miss. Geezus. he hasn't placed me yet, so more shots, short bursts, one clips him in the head. He's ducking around, trying to find me when I body shot him and he goes down. I take a quick peek at his loot (didn't make a huge amount of noise, but still risky) and loot his damaged lvl 3 helmet. I'm now wearing level 3 everything, but at about 1/2 durability (still good!).

Kill #3) Running to a new circle I see a dude ahead of me doing the same thing. I lose sight of him when he runs down a small gully so I toss a grenade on the run at where I think he is (not even close). I get inside the circle with ~15 hp, lie down, pray and use a full medkit to heal to max. I then start making my way to where I last saw dude. I've got the circle on my left as I move around and scanning, scanning, double take! He's about 20m from me lying on the ground about to throw a grenade at me. I pop him in the head and another in the body and he drops the grenade onto his lifeless body. It goes off but I'm far enough away that there is no danger except for the noise it made giving away my position. I move quickly and quietly around the edge of the circle and then spend too much time being cautious. This is the point where I realize I'm doomed and run helter skelter for the new circle but don't make it.

LoL I'll have to see if I still have the replay. Probably not as I play too much. I got killed for 3rd place by Aculite. I had no healing left and exposed myself running from someone else. We won a squad match in spectacular fashion last night. I have to see if I can figure out how to edit the replay as there were so many awesome moments. Blew up a bike with 2 shots, Thunderball and I fought a squad of 3 from behind one tree and somehow won. We were dancing back and forth from each other and somehow never shot each other. I was quite impressed. Hell almost every match was fun. Another one Thunderball hid in a hiding spot in the casino and killed two people from behind. It was great. :horse:

New season started this weekend, I just noticed. Not sure when exactly. Last night?

Just had a duel at about 75m with a dude wielding an m16. I had a x-bow. He was winning, then I hit him in his lvl 2 armour and took him down to 30%. That was enough to scare him off. Was a fun one. He only had iron sights, or I would have died.

First one. Thanks.

With five left, I waited on the circle timer, as I knew a guy was in a nearby building. There was a buggy outside, so I waited, and sure enough, he went for it. Watching the replay, I got a headshot and at least one other hit, and took him down to ~5% health. Someone else finished him off.

I stopped watching the number, so the rest of it, I was unaware of standings.

Watching the replay, two of the other three got in a point-blank shootout outside a shack. The third guy was up on the ridge, and finished off the winner.

After this, I’m slowly creeping up the slope on a lower hill to his right when I see movement. He dances around for a bit, looking around. He stops moving while facing the shack, to my right, and I send five rounds. Pop-pop. Pop-pop. Pop. He drops, game end screen pops, and i wonder of the zone got me.

I had no clue for a few seconds that I got the win.

I've always found peaking to be a PITA in this game no matter what combo I tried. I just looked up some suggestions and I can't believe this didn't occur to my myself. Someone recommended mapping the leans to b and N instead. So you lean with your thumb instead of trying to do some kind of weird claw combo. Also that frees up Q and E for other things. Going to try this out tonight. :horse:

Jacky just did a video on this and when I saw what he does I was like "no freakin' way".

He reaches up with his index finger to the left or right to lean. There is no question he is amazing at it, but my index finger is just not that flexible.

As I use my left movement finger and right movement finger to lean left and lean right, I can't lean and move in the same direction at the same time. I also use my left movement finger to crouch, so the weirdly fluid movements I see where a player ducks, moves and leans in various combinations are just not going to happen for me.

Being a better leaner would definitely help my game, but there are bigger fish to fry so I'm not going to worry about it right now.

Guys, is this game still great if you play solo? I am such a newbie at MP (and generally not a fan, especially with voice) that I tend to veer away from stuff like this, but the videos I have seen look so great, hard to miss out!

Well, Octavious plays solo *a lot* despite saying at one point he was tired of it. Goo seems to play intermittently. I play solo when I want an adrenaline rush and Red doesn't play solo at all. YMMV.

You should get a voice modulator-- not hearing your own voice might get you past your speaking issues.

It depends on how much patience you have for getting killed a lot. There's a ton of people with ridiculous skills and you will have a rough time at the start. I probably have the most hours by far and I only win solo matches here and there. So ya I think it's quite fun, but seriously it's crazy hard and the learning curve is quite steep. I'm not all that talented at FPS online games so my learning curve was higher than most. I am good a sniping though. I had some sweet sweet snipes last night. :ninja:

Let me follow that and say that it is hard to win, but not hard at all to play.

You will die every single game except for the ones you win so you shouldn’t really use that as a measure of if you could be good or not.

Even a new player can get kills. My advice would be maybe start on the Asian server...the skill set there seems....low. This is probably due to the sheer number of players and the fact that I think the good Asian players tend to play the NA server.

Oh yeah, and just for Doom, I got hit in the red zone, knocked down, and before anyone could rez me, got hit again and killed. So I was hit twice during 1 red zone, at the same location. Lightning (or A2G missiles I guess?) does strike twice.

Re: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

tl;dr - Easy rule of thumb, keep the highest level helmet, no matter how damaged.

I heard some guys asking whether a damaged higher level helmet is better/worse than an undamaged lower level helmet. In almost every case, the damaged higher level helmet is better.

A helmet with 1 durability will still reduce a headshot by its full amount before being destroyed. Head shots do so much damage that getting full damage reduction for the first shot is worth way more than less damage reduction for 2+ head shots.

Obviously the math will, sometimes, work out in favour of the lower level helmet, but not often.

If I have a lvl 3 helmet with 1 durability and take an sks shot to the head, I will take about 64 pts of damage, leaving me with 36 hp (if I started at 100%). The helmet will be destroyed, and the second head shot will kill me.

If I have a lvl 2 helmet at full durability (150) and I take an sks to the head, I will take 85 pts of damage, leaving me with 15 hp (if I started at 100%). The helmet is not destroyed, but the second head shot will kill me anyway.

As you can see, the 1 durability lvl 3 helmet leaves me with 36 hp, while the 150 durability lvl 2 helmet leaves me with 15 hp.

I'd rather have 36 hp and no helmet than 15 hp with a lvl 2 helmet.

If you have body armour, getting hit in the body for the second shot might allow you to live if you start with 35 hp. It will probably kill you if you start with only 15 hp.

All that said, getting hit in the head twice will kill you with almost anything that isn't a pistol or smg, no matter how good your helmet is.

Artillery.

I had three crap rounds this evening. I was killed twice by campers (and yes, I commonly use it as a strategy myself), and a third time by someone creeping around an area I just pulled up to on a bike.

4 different guys shooting at me from 4 different cardinal directions, none shooting at each other, despite me waiting patiently and quietly for the ones making a lot of noise to attract the attention of the others.

Eventually I had to start shooting back and that's when things got really interesting.

It was one of those "you have got to be kidding me" moments.

The guy who killed me stumbled into the action from yet another direction, spotted me fighting back and promptly killed me from a direction with no cover for me. I was gratified to see at least 3 bullets hit him during the death cam, after I was down. He probably should have taken more time to assess the situation rather than go for the easy kill. :D I didn't see him die, but with no cover and at least 3 shooters that I knew were still around, he was dead meat.
