Nice I mostly played the event last night which I found quite fun. What I have been practicing as of late is being quicker with my shots. So I'm taking a lot of snap shots with the AWM. Surprisingly I'm not half bad at it and just need some more practice. In battlefield 1 that's how I kicked it up another level. Once you figure out how to quick shot a martini henry you can go nuts in that game.

Had 5 matches in a row where I made top 5. I keep on messing up my positioning towards the end. It's pretty darn easy to get top 10 on the island if you just rotate around the busy areas. Sure sometimes you will get ganked, but mostly it's pretty safe. It's just not much fun. I've been trying to play some other stuff as this finally is starting to get a bit boring to me.

I was ON FIRE yesterday for some reason. Multiple 5 kill matches. I was trying to get a game going with Thunderball, but his computer keeps on crashing. :grund: Ended up running a duo on my own. 5 kills and got top 5. At one point a truck crashed and flipped right in front of me. I quickly took out the one guy as he was jumping out and the tossed a grenade in to finish them off. I wish I could replicate my good days. I know I'll try and play tonight and be terrible.

I love those days when everything lines up and you're a rockstar. One of the highest compliments I think I've ever gotten in an online multiplayer game was being accused of cheating.

Congrats!

For whatever reason whenever there is a new season I almost always get a win right away. Second match 5 kill win. The one kill I got I bet the guy reported me. He was a good 100m away and I did a quick spray from my QBZ which killed him in a half second. I then naded the next guy and then last guy was hiding in a bush. Once he took a shot at me I knew where he was and quickly disposed of him. In TP on the island if I see the person first I will generally win now. I've gotten really good with spraying most of the weapons. Only took me 2 years.

Got another win yesterday. 3 left and the 2 guys duke it out leaving it 1v1. I wasn't far away so I bolted up as soon as they started fighting. The guy was behind a tree and I had no cover so I just kept shooting the tree until I got to cover. Kept him from popping out and pew pewing me. I then saw his arm raise to toss a nade. It was like a starting gun to me. I just bolting at him and shot him mid toss.

Nice! I almost got a chicken dinner with my daughter yesterday. We ended up second. :( She has no idea how to play so it's more like escorting the president than a duo. Stay behind me! Don't stand there!

Won a match this morning in FP. 4 kills on the new map. I'm starting to like the AKM. It's a love hate for me, but as long as I'm crouched and don't try to go rambo I do pretty well with it. One match this weekend I got 5 kills in bootcamp in a minute. I felt like Shroud as I kept on having people run up on me with no weapons.

I have no idea how you could get anywhere in this game "baby-sitting", so to speak! As it is, half the time it seems like one of us is rescuing the other, and that's despite having really upped our team-game.

The AKM and I are buddies. Out to 50m I'm great with it, and get a compensator on it and I will use it happily out to 200 m (feels like I might have typed this earlier in the thread). However, the Beryl is trying to butt into our relationship; while it does kick like a mule until you get it fully kitted out, rapid single fire is actually quite smooth, and will win most fights unless they are knife-fighting you with something on auto (like the Vector that carved me up in a house last night). I haven't experimented enough with burst fire to comment there, yet.

It’s not that hard to totally avoid people on the older maps. We just circled around the back until everyone was dead. Hell we got two crates in the process.

Two kinda interesting stories from last night. First, playing with a couple of new guys who've entered the fold, Cort and I had a 4-man squad Chicken Dinner. We *almost* managed to win it with the whole team intact. During the last moments of the game, one of the new guys went down. It's pretty dicey at the moment, so obviously no one can just go running over there, but he gets himself a good spot behind a rock and I charge the 25 meters to pick him up. While rezzing, there's gunfire close and I have to drop him for my gun. Nothing. Go back to picking him up again, and hear footsteps close! I have to drop him again, this time to cut down the final player in the game for the win. It was just sad to watch his lifeless avatar role away as I did it.
Also had two crossbow kills again last night. Playing a duo, my partner and I went to the Water Treatment Plant. So did 3 other teams. Partner went to the big building. I screwed my jump, so I was able to warn him that another guy climbed into the NW window of his location while I was floating in. Just as I enter the building from the SW, my guy goes down. Apparently he only found a pistol, while the baddie found a dual-barrel shottie. I run to the control room facing the complex: Nothing. The baddie has left my guy to bleed out and I see him run through the central room towards the door I came in, just as I entered from my closest entrance. Scanning, scanning... a crossbow? Really? Jump in the corner, load up. Dude comes around the corner, lifts her shotgun... *thunk*. Right in the belly. Just tightened my aimed and prayed. :D

I'm almost 100% burned out on this game. I got sick of getting shot 5 seconds after I went behind cover. People magically always having pinpoint aim.. Dropping in an area and running through 7 houses to find no gun and then get shot. I ran into a stretch the last 2 weeks where I wondered why I bothered. It's supposed to be fun right? :P Instead I've been focusing on single player games like F1 2018 and I just started a co-op game of Divinity Original Sin. I have better things to do than get pissed off at a poorly optimized game. :P

From everything I've seen COD will completely replace this game for me. I'm going to try the beta tonight. I may even stick to PS4 for now so that I don't have to worry about people cheating. And it's a bit easier as everyone won't kill you in 1 second with amazing aim. I tried to play with Thunderball last night and pretty much have given up. This game is clunky, unbalanced and frankly not any fun for me anymore. I got the most hours out of any game in my life x10 so it's been a good run.

Did anyone try the battle royale mode in the call of duty beta this weekend? PUBG might have some stiff competition.

I put some time into it -- mixed impressions.

It certainly feels polished and has an interface that works well. It was easy to jump into and it was natural learning how to properly loot, equip weapon attachments, use items, etc. I have a basic PS4, not the Pro, and I had no issues with the framerate or resolution or any of that jazz. It's definitely a good battle royale experience, and I certainly liked it more than Fortnite, which didn't click with me.

But while I had fun with Blackout, it didn't feel as magical as PUBG did when I was still playing it. Blackout is a faster paced experience which I think a lot of people will like, but I think that makes it lose some of the best parts of the tension you get in PUBG. It's a lot easier to find a decent weapon in Blackout, so it didn't seem like you'd ever find yourself making do with something truly inferior past the first 50 seconds of the game. With Blackout having both a smaller map and more abundant loot, outrunning the circle felt less like a looming threat and time pressure to plan around, and more like a simple task you do every now and then.

So I'm on the fence. It's definitely a very solid foundation, just not sure if it's quite amazing enough to take the place of other games I've been looking forward to buying this release season.

Played it both Saturday and Sunday. Definitely prefer pubg at the moment due to the character movement speed, hit feedback and the ridiculous circle speeds. However, I'm being told that this was a "mini" version of the BR experience, though I haven't read that anywhere. Will keep an open mind if other versions become playable.

I liked it a lot, but yes the pace is super duper fast. The circles need tweaks which I'm sure they will do. I didn't think they were too fast just that they weren't paced well. I had GIGANTIC circles with only a few people left more than a few times. I bought the game as I plan on also playing the other modes. There's so many things coming out next month that I will probably regret that. :P

SO... I'm a little behind on my PC gaming, but I finally downloaded PUBG last night and played a few rounds. Pretty fun, but I keep getting killed. A lot. Finally today at lunch I managed to surprise someone in a building and we both danced around spraying lots of shots and not hitting anything. I finally won that encounter by standing still and firing. I'm not sure that's winning strategy long term, but it got me my first kill.

If I'm understanding the game right, it's totally different paradigm from most FPS, and works almost more like a stealth game. I'll play a little more tonight and try out my rusty camping/sneaking skills I suppose.

Not that I have an example to link to, but if you need to keep your chin up, find a pro (sponsored) player who's willing to create a "not best of" compilation video and put it up.

That should really drive home just how incredibly often things happen beyond your control and there's nothing you can do about it. The game is all about stacking all the odds in your favour so that sometimes they all land in your favour. A player who wins 25% of his games loses 75%. i.e. even the best players in the world lose more often than they win.

Oh, and being a good shot is also important.

In the COD beta, shooting while jumping around like a toddler who truly believes the floor is lava seems to be the way to win. In pubg, the opposite is true-- you need a steady aim to put your bullets into the target. That isn't to suggest there isn't movent involved. There's peaking, and also relocating your cover. That said, in a knife-fight, just stand there and be the better shot, preferably to the head.
If you haven't already done this, consider changing your sensitivity of soft aiming (holding down your right mouse button while you aim) to the same sensitivity as your regular movent. It will make transitioning to knife fight-range shooting more accurate and easier.

I would have been shocked if you liked COD over PUBG. It's not intended to be realistic which I guess some people like. I had fun with it, but it's certainly not the same game as pubg. I already pre-ordered it though. It's a fun diversion.

I spent a lot of time with COD 2 / Black Ops Multiplayer. I'm sure this is something I could spend some time with and probably enjoy, but I'm not sure I'm ready for another battle royale right now.

I don't consider PUBG as realistic at all so that's not really a factor in any decision I would make though I'm absolutely certain without ever playing it that Blackout will be much faster paced.
