With everyone home for the holiday its really slowing my internet down for gaming. I normally have a 65 meg speed but today its about 10.

I tried to gift to someone in the states and Steam complained about regional differences and refused to let me gift it. First time I've seen that since I joined Steam.

Not happy.

From what I've heard, you can't do it if there is more than a 10% difference in price, calculated in local currency.

I'm guessing that this is either to stop people from forming a group to always buy it at the cheaper price and gift it, or it has something to do with Valve getting screwed on the exchange.

I also had it happen when I tried giving something to Rumpy - but it didn't happen when I tried giving something to you. I was perplexed.

First regional pricing, then forced market separation. I'd be willing to pay the difference, if that was an option.

Unrelated, my daughter bought me hatoful boyfriends as a practical joke.

Joke's on her, Smoove assures me it's a good game!

How much steam money does she have that she can waste it on joke gifts?!

You're going to play for like 15 minutes and think yeah, it's totally a joke. But the ending that I experienced was pretty damn heavy...for a pigeon dating simulator! It's rather enjoyable so yeah, the joke's on her! Definitely dig up the thread after a few hours of play.

I have enough to buy my final Christmas gift for myself thanks to my wife. But I cant find anything. And I need to finish off the cards to make the badge. I didn't seem to get any cards for stuff I bought or stuff I got. Not sure how they were handed out this year.

Scroll down the front page. You get three a day for doing discovery queues. You can also get them for voting.

Same as last year. You vote on STEAM awards (+1 card a day) and then take three trips through your discovery queue (+3 cards a day).

I believe you have to be a certain minimum level to get the cards, although I assume you are long past whatever the level is (edit: yeah, you are way past the minimum).

1 card per queue, max 3 queues per day, 1 card for voting, 1 card for every 10 bucks spent (I think).

Seems like Steam is getting hammered. Had a few more transaction attempts fail, and then one finally went through.

Im getting stuff way under $10 so no cards for me there. I picked up a bunch on the queues and grabbed the rest off the store. Finished both my normal badge and the foil one.

You have 13 pages of STEAM trading cards in your inventory - I'm sure it's difficult to keep track of the new ones coming in. :D According to my count, you have 4 cards.

I got stuff in there from the dino days. I really have no idea what all is in my inv these days. I finished up both badges just now. If you guys want a card just open a trade for it. I dont want anything for anything I have.

I believe Steam keeps a running tally of how much you've spent during the sale, so even if you're buying 1 or 2 dollar items, 1 per day, when you finally hit $10 spent after 5-10 days (assuming the sale lasts that long), you get a card.

I'm almost certain that's how it works. The trading card gurus can correct me if I'm wrong.

Just sell it all. You probably have a few dollars worth of cards, maybe more. They really do add up.

Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star is what I received. It's apparently a separate game. So far it's about the mysterious Christmas thieves. I'm supposed to solve the mystery, I think. No dating so far.

Thank you Isgrimnur for 1979 Revolution: Black Friday! ("Enjoy being repressed", lol....)

And thanks Smoove for Age of Gladiators! ("Do you like games about gladiators?" :?)

I don't know where you people got my name, but next year I'm unfriending you all on Steam before the holidays. 8-) I'll have to spread some love back around when I'm not broke. (And broke does not equal "no exciting games in my backlog"--Humble has made sure I have 100s.)

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I like adding top peoples backlog so even if you didn't sign up you still need your pile of games increased so that I don't feel as bad about mine.

While people are adding to their backlog, remember I still have lots of unclaimed indie crap here. Plus GRID 2.

She was disappointed to learn there was no dating in the game she gave me, so she bought me the original too.

I don't know whether to be proud that she is giving me things, or mad that she is wasting money because she thinks it's "funny".

I was going to buy Tank Warfare Tuesday when I got paid. Hate having my end of year paycheck delayed 4 days for tax purposes.
