Yeah, we'll have to watch out for Talon Company ambushes later. Burkes put out a contract on the Lone Wanderer.
I remember those d*cks. They could be a serious pain. Good source of loot, though.

Went into Arlington Cemetery and cleaned out Arlington House of loot, as well as two other loot caches I have at Hotel Malice and DC Metro. I'm at about 1000 caps. Need to find some enemies to kill...

Odd. That was never a problem for me in any of the Fallout games.

No worry, I'm at Grayditch killing those fire spitter ants. But I'm using up ammo like crazy even if I can one-shot kill all the ants. I'm not going to let those darn ants get close enough to roast me. Have to switch to a different weapon, as I just used up most of my .32 hunting rifle ammo.

I was cleaning out the sewers near Grayditch, and even killed that killer clown Gallo in the sewers. Stashed most of the loots, disarmed a few traps... Took the loot back to Megaton, but I've emptied out everybody's cap stash. I had to run to Mresti Family's merchant, and that requires a lot of running back and forth. ARGH.

Any way, went back to the sewers... Why's there a kid standing there? Turns out that's Brian Wilks, the kid from Grayditch, some fireants had taken over the town. I promised to help him look for his dad, and he ran off so fast I can't follow him. I got about half way, when I noticed some guy started chasing him. Talon Company Captain?! Then I remembered, there's a Talon Company outpost. Decided to pay them a visit... Killed three of those goons inside, nabbed a shotgun and some other loot. Then went off toward Grayditch. That captain was chasing the kid with just a sledgehammer. He has a nice armor though, "apoc armor" with +1 STR and stuff. Shot him before he got within 15 yards.

I walked around the whole down, killing fireants left and right. Haven't quite found the underground entrance yet, but soon. I'm full on loot, so I'm heading back to Megaton.

I'll need about 1800-1900 caps before I can afford the infirmary accessory in my Megaton house. Eeek. I'm at 1200-1300, and another 200+ caps of stuff unsold as nobody has caps anymore. May have to search for merchant first.

Cleaned out Grayditch for the Scientist, and fought my way through all the way to Galaxy News Radio. Unfortunately, now I'm stuck with a Nuke Launcher and Nukes AND a Brotherhood armor I looted, I'm encumbered. And I can't wear the armor yet as it's not fitted. And it seems there are no merchants at GNR (!) I'll have to stash the stuff here in GNR and hope when I come back it'll still be here.

I'm going back to make the Scientist give me caps for the fire ant nectar, that's quite a bit of caps right there (I have 15 x 40 caps each) Plus some misc loot hopefully it'd be enough so I don't have to pay Doc Church every time I go out.

Oh is that who hired them? Im to the point where nothing really gets me. I can kill behemoths simply with my guns while running around them. These games get a little boring once you can do that.

Yep, just ran into a bunch of Talon goon right outside Rivet City. The Weapons Caravan was right there, and they attacked me in full view of the guards. But I just shot them in the head one at a time. The Lieutenant went first, as he's the blabbermouth that accosted me. The other two fell quickly. I just stripped off their bodies and sold the stuff right then and there to the merchant. :) They do have nice gear, but mine are better! (I have Outcasts power armor!)

I was in Rivet City to settle the kid. That was easy enough. Went back and told the kid to get moving, then when the scientist settled in his shack again, he paid me the 600 caps he owed me for the fire ant nectar. I FINALLY was able to afford that "my first infirmary", which actually didn't save me much, as it takes a stimpack to heal and stimpacks cost 96 caps to the Doc's 100 caps. Hahaha. Guess I have to get a "my first chemistry" set to make stimpacks myself. :)

Fought my way through the tunnels. I was just about to hit the museum exit when the system froze on me during a battle. ARGH. I know I'm playing on EASY, but I'm here for the experience, not to get slaughtered over and over. I alternate between hunting rifle and Wattz Laser pistol. A head shot will nail even a supermutant. The trick is duck behind cover and avoid their thrown grenades, if any. When they reload, pop out and VATS them.

Just nailed three Supermutants when I popped out at Seward station. Wrong station though. I need Museum Station, which is raider territory.

Okay, fought my way out of Museum Station... and the square is a series of trenches with supermutants fighting the Brotherhood. Not good. I got pinned down almost immediately, can't get out of the subway entrance, and I have 3-4 supermutants rushing me. Had to switch to my emergency gun... AK-74 with 3-round bursts. I wait for them to come down to the stairs, and hit them with a headshot burst each. Whew. Then some supermutant took laser shots at me. Then I get abominables, floaters, and more. WTF? Just as I popped out of the subway entrance. I took cover behind the entrance, and shot them all down. That supermutant has a Wattz 2000 laser rifle, which I claimed.

My health is down to half, with a crippled chest, so I decided to head home. I already found the entrance to the Tech Museum, so I can quick travel back easily. Enough for a day's work.

Ill need to look for that Talon base if its near Greyditch.

Ive not been to RivetCity yet. Only went to GNR in the town itself because I HATE that maze of metro stations to get around. I tried to go from the radio to the monument or museum and ended up getting lost and discovering about 8 metro stations. Got so sick of it all I left and have been exploring the entire wastes instead.

Been avoiding the crazy Cthulhu house but may go there soon.

Lordy me. I must have found 20 useless crutches when I didn't need them but since finding the plans to the railway rifle I haven't seen one at all. Ive fast traveled to all the places Ive been and checked all merchants and doc places too. Nothing.

Also Im finding lockpick 100 doors deep in places now and have only 85 in it. Bet I forget to ever go back.

"Hotel Malice" - I have no idea where this is.

It's funny, I haven't played in years... YEARS... but I can still remember/picture some of those areas. I remember that subway entrance. Pretty sure I died there multiple times over the course of my multiple replays. Having several mutants rush down the escalators, or toss explosives.... That was a challenging spot to get out of. I was not playing on easy.

It's near that "highway overpass" that heads into Grayditch. It's that building that has this staircase on the exterior. Description says "Talon Company Outpost".
Lordy me. I must have found 20 useless crutches when I didn't need them but since finding the plans to the railway rifle I haven't seen one at all.
There's some in Anchorage Memorial's "clinic" area.
"Hotel Malice" - I have no idea where this is.
Halfway between Wilhelm's Pier and Brotherhood Citadel. It's "under" the freeway bridge. Some raiders claimed the area under the bridge as a "Hotel", so to speak. It's labeled as Hotel Malice, no idea why.

When I killed that Talon Lieutenant there's a document on him that says very clearly Burke put a hit out on me. So it's definitely. And when that LT accost you the first time, he'll tell you so too.

Running into that Weapons Caravan vendor at Rivet City was a lucky break for me... That guy has repair of 100, the only one in FO3. Repairing my stuff to full condition was invaluable. Moira's repair was only 79.

Turns out the Brotherhood couldn't care less about my Outcast power armor's original source. But then, the game's dialog only depends on who you are, not what you're wearing, even if it includes a full-face helmet like the power armor. :) I was like very impressed when Three Dog recognized me and I was sure I was wearing the helmet. :D

I stumbled into a sewer and met a ghoul name Gallo. Unfriendly sort. He was wearing a birthday hat and seemed to be having a party but he did attack me and my spike took his head off and nailed it to a wall with the hat still on it. A gruesome sight yes but made happier by the choo choo of my freshly made and used railroad rifle.

Actually I was a bit sad at this. he seemed happy, had a really cool Nuka Cola collection and a cage of per bugs..which I killed too. Sigh. Sometimes my play isn't all that happy.

Oh did come across some crutches in Bethesda's offices haha.

Not sure what to do with Paradise City. Im a good guy this go. Cant decide if I should buy all the slave and set them free, kill everyone or what. I killed Jones but Crimson and Clover,*snicker*, turned on me and I had to kill them. Reloaded and bought Clover. I have a mod for her and want that companion...dont know of others in this game but Dogmeat. It says I can set her free but Im not sure she'll stay my bodyguard if I do. And other than pissing Clover and them off if I kill the slavers I would like to keep them a place to shop and sell junk.

Does anyone know if you free Clover from her collar if she stays a bodyguard for you?

Do not. Don't remember that part. I probably killed all the slavers too. Pretty sure I never had her as a follower.

I do recall that there is a ghoul you can get as a follower. I think from the ghoul area in the city. There is also a super mutant, but he may have been tied to a DLC.

I often get tired of followers and run solo. Especially since I like to play stealth a lot, and followers aren't very good at that (generally).

I haven't used Dogmeat because he can die but you can set Clover to essential.

I think I had a npc mixed up with one in FONV so I can stop looking for that one :P

HA! Accidentally found Rivet City by the damn metros when looking for Reillys base doh.

Man my Pipboy radio is messed up bad. Radios in the rooms are fine and on my pipboy the DJ is fine but when music plays on the pipboy its just a total stutter. I added a mod to improve the radio with tons of new stuff and such and I guess it borked it somehow. Will need to remove it tomorrow and test.

My Charisma's too low to get any followers, but now I got my ammo engineer perk up I can convert ammo into the ones I want. That's going to be a lot of help.

Went through Minefield. Had to kill Arkansas, but can't be helped. Still took a couple hits from the mines, but it's fulfilled. Now I had to get irradiated, but I guess I should have just went ghoul hunting. Actually went into bowels of a subway and got chased by two ferals and a glowing one. And that thing is NASTY... When it blows up (after you kill it) it'll STILL irradiate the area. Actually the first time it killed me (I got irradiated to 1000) Had to redo the area.

I went back to Anchorage Memorial and cleared all the way to bottom. They had a Mierlurk farming operation going on. Hahaha.

I also got the dish from the Tech Museum and installed it on the Washington Monument. Had to kill a few more supermutants.

Walked around Lincoln Memorial, got nailed by the slavers... too many of them. My small guns skill wasn't good enough to hit them from afar, because my concentration (tagged skills) was explosives and melee (and meds). How *does* one survive as a melee guy in FO3? I'm starting to feel I was replaying what I did in the first playthrough, albeit with a badly suited character or something (I'm pretty sure first time I played a science/small gun specialist)

Found the Outcast Outpost and they wanted me to help them start Operation Anchorage Holoprogram. I think I'll wait on that a bit.

Cleaned out the Mama Dolce's Food Factory. Wow, there are infiltrators in the factory? And they've been here all these years? Dang.

Went exploring west, found a power station with nuke waste that I was able to satisfy the Moira quest on getting irradiated. Unfortunately, as soon as as I stepped out, I got ambushed by two Talon goons. Had to reload from earlier game so I have the gun ready to kill them.

Had to explore various underground stations to find Tepid Sewer for Moira's next chapter... Molerat repellant. Didn't work, of course. Did the extra version too...

Next chapter is on Mirelurks... except I already cleared it all the way down to the bottom, including killing all mirelurks. Well, that just means I won't have to kill any this trip, right?

When I was exploring trying to find the sewer entrance, I came across Talon goons fighting a bunch of supermutants. They killed each other, I was just there for the loot. :)

Mirelurks quest for Moira was done. Killing everything ahead of time was an excellent way to complete this quest without killing anything. I just walked in, walked all the way down, then dropped the observer in.

Investigating Rivet City and talking to Pinkerton was actually not that hard if you know what to do... To make it through that trapped corridor...
Spoiler:
Stand all the way back, into the room at the bottom, then chuck a grenade at the gas section. It'll go boom, taking out ALL the traps there with it.
Got the history of Rivet City for Moira by talking to Pinkerton.

Was heading to RobCo, headed past the "car dealership". I guess that's the part about FWE's optional "fast travel" system with "motorcycles". :) It's cute, but I didn't use it.

Continued toward RobCo, and walking past some buildings when I got engaged by multiple raiders. They managed to kill me (!) by encircling me. I reloaded, and tried like 5 times, but each time they managed to flank me. :( Then I realized I was being stupid. I nabbed 4 frag mines moments earlier, so I put them to use. I put all five I got along the path they may flank me from, spaced apart so one bang won't get them all. Then I tried the ambush again. But this time, they got blown up by the mines. There were 2 stragglers, but those I can handle.

Checked out Dukov's place, but left without doing anything. My speech is too low to do anything significant there.

Explored the downtown area a bit going through the sewers and subways and whatnot.

I was exploring Dupont Circle when I decided my Neostead isn't good enough. I switched to the HK CAWS I picked up, and boy, that thing is a real supermutant killer, even at range that should be beyond most shotguns. But it uses ammo like a firehose. I had like 200+ rounds, but after engaging a dozen supermutants and floaters I'm just about out. But if the enemies are stuck in a corridor, this will sweep them like a scythe.

Found the Hospital. Took two trips to clear it and get all the loot I wanted. There's a ton of metallic objects left in the hospital to loot, if I ever want any. Now I need toy cars to craft some shotgun ammo...

Was exploring "Dry Sewers" when I heard battle just beyond the door. I just waited. It seems Talon Company got bushwacked again by Supermutants. They were having a great time shooting at each other. Again, I walked in AFTER they sorted themselves out and I killed the survivors.

That eventually lead me to Dupont Circle. I accidentally hit a couple mines, but made it into the clothing store. I'm heading back to Megaton to recharge. I'm just about out of 5.56 mm ammo, I used up 200+ round of shotgun earlier. I need to find more gunpowder to make more ammo. :)

My guns list is..

1. 44 scoped
2. chinese assault
3. combat shotgun
4. wazer wifle
5. sniper rifle
6. grenades
7. railroad rifle
8. stimpacks

I just switch around when I either get bored or find a gun is working too well. Ive increased difficulty to hard now. If something is taking forever to kill Ill use my shotgun or Lincolns repeater which I found. Ive not gone back to the slave guy to give him all Lincolns stuff because I like using the rifle :)

I cant craft ammo. Is that a mod? I have the scrounger or whatever perk that lets me find more ammo in stuff. I find 10-26 or so in containers. I have 100s and 100s if not 1000s or bullets.

I am using FWE, which includes CRAFT, (building stuff at workbench) and CALIBR (more guns and ammo). There's an ammo engineer perk that I can pick (requires repair of 60) that I can build ammo from common parts like toy cars, tin cans, and gunpowder (special part from vendors).

My scrounging sucks as I'm only finding a few rounds here and there. It took me a long time to build up the ammo reserve.

My favorite guns so far...

AK-74S (better than the Chinese assault rifle)

HK CAWS (super shotgun, semi-auto with 16 round burst fire)

Junk spear (very good melee weapon!)

-----

I added EVE, then realized my combo actually requires a different compatibility patch as the FOIP is no longer maintained. Eeek. Turns out there's a new patch called "Blackened".

I'm doing the FWE + EVE + MMM+Project Beauty (aka Fallout Redesigned) patch, and I'm adding WMK to the mix. Yes, I'm tempting fate by adding mods mid-game. But FWE so far feels very hard. I'm barely level 8. :)

I'm also using FO3EDIT to created the merged patch. It's surprisingly small.

Wish me luck! :)

I avoid the FO3 mod site like the plaque but I accidentally opened it. Saw a 30k to all vendors. So tempted but theres no way in hell Ill add a mod now and break my game with me this far in. I have like 12000 caps and nothing to buy. I also cant sell all Im carrying . After 7 stores I still have a huge inventory of crap to sell.

Without that gun mod I have boring weps but Ive seen all thats out there. think the two rares Ive found are Wazer Wifle and Fisto.

Quick question. Clover has been asking about a better gun. the combat shotgun she uses works very well and I see no ammo on her so it must be set to use none. If I replace it I have to tell her to drop it. If I give her a new weapon does she need me to give her ammo or is it magical too?

Think I may leave her the gun but trader her sword for a super sledge.

Walked past Camp Freedom, the Outcast HQ. I'm wearing a Fallen Brother armor but they didn't give a ****. :) They have gauss gatlings though. :) Nice gear.

I'm about 75% done cleaning up RobCo. It's just protectrons and whatnot inside. I built the junk hammer, pretty good so far. Not sure how it'd fare against robots, but then I have my FN FAL w/ 180 rounds of 7.62 as backup. Maybe I should take some energy weapons too? I know I can hack it (okay, I cheated and read the Nukapedia entry on it) with a little chem help.

-----

I don't' have any followers this run. The last run I did years ago, I think the follower have magic ammo with whatever gun they happen to have. If you give them a better gun, they *may* use it depending on the amount of damage it can do and if it has the appropriate range, but only if it has appropriate ammo. So, it's only their default weapons that have unlimited ammo.

I've been wondering why does this run-through feel so... hard. It's FWE. It slows progress significantly (roughly twice as hard to level than vanilla FO3). Add to me tagging the wrong skills to start and it's not a fun run, but interesting. The grenade hotkey mod helped a lot though. Hold G, let go to toss grenade.

FWE, as I said earlier, includes CALIBR and CRAFT, which added GUNPOWDER item, and ability to build ammo with scrap metal, tin can, and gunpowder item added to vendor list. The problem is Moira never seems to have much gunpowder in stock, and my barter is too low to make ammo affordable. I can sometimes loot some from searches, and I can take apart ammo for more, but it seems a waste of perfectly good ammo.

My STEAM just glitched out and apparently completely forgot I had FO3 installed. WTF!? It's rediscovering all the installed files. I hope it won't erase all the setup I've done. I had edited a TON of stuff like Fallout3.ini and all that. Darn it. I was running it when the computer just sudden turned OFF (by itself). WEIRD!!!!

EDIT: It wiped out my menus I had setup with DarNitfied UI, argh! I can't read the main menu anymore. AND the game's stuck on monitor #1 when I had it running fine on monitor #2. WTF?!

EDIT: Had to reinitialize the DarniFied UI mods to get the game working, and somehow that slowed the game down tremendously. I have no idea what's going on. It had somemthing to do with the load order, I think. ARGH! Hate that. I had a good thing working, and now this screwed it all up.

Finished the Arlington library quest. Cleared the library upper floors of all the riff raff raiders, and got access to the card catalog. There was a close moment where I got rushed by 4-5 raiders. I got smarter and laid down two mines and at least got one of them and the rest I bottled necked them inisde the staircase and just hosed them with 7.62 NATO bullets from the FN FAL. Those flamers didn't do too much damage to my power armor.

Went outside and decided to explore a little. Found a building full of booby traps and one raider not too far from the entrance to Arlington Library. There's a glitch where when the guy got killed his body turned into a stretchy rubbery man and bounced all over the place. Bug. :) That place is full of booby traps. A door beam, bear traps, trip wires with grenade bouquet, shotgun, landmines, even a laser turret (!). Fortunately there's a good stash of drugs up top. At that time my repair is ZERO due to "meth withdrawal psychosis" (Thanks, FWE) so I can only trigger the trap, instead of disarm them. But turns out you can shoot the trip wire post and trigger it that way, instead of stepping on it.

Went home and cleaned up the addiction. Resting. Next game day... resolve the replicated man once and for all. I want that unique plasma rifle. :)

One of my favorite mods for FO3 added roving BOS patrols around the DC area. So cool to see a patrol disappear down a tunnel and start clearing things out - and they will ask you to join them if you want. Good times.

Wouldn't they clean out your exp opportunities? ?

I just made me the rock it launcher. Other than the damn annoying vacuum sound Im having a blast with it. Ive never ever used it in any game because I hate wasting items I can sell. But in the Robo building I collecting about 100 wrenches, glasses, and books. Too much fun. once all ammo is spent Im packing it away due to that sound. But right now its a smile on my face blast.

I never found xp lacking in any of these games. Plus I usually add a mod that increases the number of random spawns.

Something happened last night that turned my machine into a total slug. It's still happening somewhat, but I think I've tamed it. It seems Avast and Comodo Firewall are fighting over each other and it's affecting my DisplayFusion (dual mon manager). My CPU was pegged to 100% most of the night, even when nothing's running. It's now back down to 20% or so.

Im kinda getting a little burn out going. ive set the diff to hard but nothing is hampering me. I just cleaned out the capital building full of mutants and mercs no prob. I also grabbed the explorer perk so all map sites are now marked. Plan to visit some for fun. I could simply finish the game but will look around a little first.

Time to install the hard stuff then, MMM with tougher monsters, or add A World of Pain (AWOP) which added nastier locations. Maybe add MTC Wasteland Travellers V2 or that mod that lets you build a whole new settler town... and random encounters. Worst case, restart with FWE active.

Which is also why we do say, buy the DLCs. :) I've checked Point Lookout Reborn, which is like an extended version of Point Lookout. Looks interesting.

Thanks to Fallout 4 I never ever want to see a settler that wants me to build them a home. :) I was so excited about that part but 6 places in I lost my desire to help people. In fact next time I replay FO4 Im going full institute.

I am at Lvl 9, and progress is slow, due to FWE. I'm not getting that many skill points (11 per level I think) and books don't raise the points much, and there are minimum skill level requirements for the books. Even hacking and lockpicking got minimum requirements. Normally I can pick just about ANY lock in FO3 vanilla but when FWE's revised lockpicking rules won't even let me try (my lockpicking is like, 25, barely enough for Easy) I had to leave a lot of safes uncracked. Still, I have a good chunk of the quests done. However, I don't have a companion, which pretty much means... what? I dunno... :)
