Star Control II HD

I wanted to talk about SC2 but didn't want to keep putting it in the Stardock SC:O thread.

I tried the GoG version of Ur Quan Masters and the main one from the UQM site itself. But looked bad since they were so old and the controls were very bad to say the least. I then found a site offering the HD version of UQM. Wow it is a nice version and Im actually having fun with it. It nearly fills my 2560x1080 screen. Looks wonderful and plays just like it used to. Awesome.

Thought if others were interested in SC2 Id link it for you. Very good version. Full speech and all. Im working on mining out the Sol system and the one next door. Early warning...dont try to even quickly mine anything from Venus..you wont survive.

That held my attention maybe a few hours. After cleaning out SOL I realize it has no journal to keep my info in. Like when I discover a planet location or something I need to get. I have to write it all down...like the old days. Im not up for that. SO I think Im out of stuff to do in the game.

Since this has starting impinging on my one nerve Ive started looking for games like SC2. Maybe a bit newer. Doesn't have to be. So far this is what Ive found. Also I left out Escape Velocity Nova. Just didn't look good.

3030 Deathwar Redux - I own this one
Endless Sky
Drox Operative - own this too
Starsector - own it
VoidExpanse - own it very fun

See now the trouble with these are ...the ones I own and played....are fun and all but they are not very SC2 like. Theres no planet landings and exploration. They are basically ship exploring and fighting. Any mining is done on asteroids and space hulks. But I may need to go back to a couple that I didn't give a hige go at like 3030 or Drox. Ive played Starsector and VoidExpanse to death.
